I grew up at the dragstrip. My dad & his buddy Eddie built BB/GD's from scratch, chassis & everything. They even built their own trailers. I remember push starting it, watching it run, and hanging around the shop counting the trophies they'd won. Well over 100 before I lost count. Better back then IMO.
It's so nice to watch a guy adjusting his carbs, or using a timing light in the pits on these monsters instead of three guys staring at a lab top while they tune a motor with a bunch of bent tubing and hair dryers no disrespect but this is the drag racing I remember, when it was fun! Thank you for sharing this video!
I grew up w/racing like this. My dad & his best friend built BB/GD's from scratch, chassis, engines, even their own trailers to tow it on. Cast Iron 392 Hemi w/a 6-71 blower. They were running low 7's at around 180mph in the 1/4mi when they quit racing in the early 70's.
Crazy crazy crazy crazy crazy crazy crazy shit. Insane, Beautifully Insane, the line up (0:00 - 03:44) was something else. Jaw droppin. Damn that was nice!
That Altered at the end was S I C K with the cockpit. Proof that safety doesn't always make cars clunky. Sometimes they make them look even more wicked!
I have a 192 inch, alcohol injected; 412 inch SBC; 2 speed powerglide; Front Engine Dragster. Runs high 7's, low 8's. I run it at Nostalgia events. I enjoy it every time I go. Lotta people like the FED's.
Wow, what's that hopped up red semi-convertible "roadster" at 3:29? I can't even tell where they've stuffed the engine in that thing! I bet it's really lightweight... Maybe it's just a coincidence, but I seem to recall seeing quite a few of those cars cruising around near golf courses.
Nostalgia in name only. I was around in the early days and these cars look very little like the old time race cars, even the AA/FD's don't look correct, just modern design dragsters with the engines up front!
Hi bud, the red #J318 dual engine rail, is that a GM small block in front and GM big block at the rear? If so that must have been quite an engineering feat getting them to run together!! Unless I miss my guess, EVERYTHING is different about them,, unless the guys custom manufactured the cranks to keep the stroke and torque the same. Anyway, this is also a super video and we thank you for sharing it. Please keep it up!! We luv 'em and for sure are sharing your channel with our friends!!
John Z Thanks again for all the kind comments, not sure about the dual engine rail setup but that thing was crazy as were most of the cars at this event!
+John Z They have the same firing order, ture alignment of the cranks is all that's needed, regardless of how long the connecting rods are, rpm is rpm, could play hell on main bearings, didn't see any power adders also, which is a big deal on a combination like this.
Or however long it lasts just good to see drag racing still exist!!? I've been crewing and owning funny cars since 72! 1/8 of a mile versus quarter mile racing!? Well it's simple! Fans love the quarter mile and car owners and tracks when it comes to match racing and points meats do the 8th!! When you're spending money out of your pocket for $5 a second operation! That's early days numbers! Yes you do 8th mile been doing it since the early seventies! Us 30 Maple Grove Lebanon valley! Exedra we're all mostly 8th of a mile in the seventies! Sorry to break your heart but jungle Jim especially did more 1/8 stuff than quarter! Especially during the week!!
No thats a replica and the times are shown at the end of a majority of the runs on the actual scoreboard, if your viewing on a cell phone it may be hard to see them but on a desktop they are easily seen
+W4CHHUNDi Larry Harlen's “Bad Anglia” `49 Anglia Blown BBC can also be seen in another video of mine at the 7 minute mark...ruclips.net/video/sphIlFMczaw/видео.html and 7.51 mark in this video ruclips.net/video/TjraD3tKCiQ/видео.html
GahDub that black sedan with the flames racing the green slingshot at 17 min looks awesome and must say reminds me of a hot wheels I had up until I got all my stuff stolen a few years back when I moved in with some douche bags called freinds anyhu I love the sedan black n flames a total classic. one day il get my dream ride and make my pops proud "RIP pops" flames rock n surfers rule. peace ya'al from the uk. +Randi “Chicken nugget” Gal Thanks! The "beast" is actually a '48 Ford, here its is in another video of mine ruclips.net/user/edit?o=U&video_id=TjraD3tKCiQ
Never did understand the two engine thing. I know the history of guys like 'TV Tommy' Ivo and stuff but what's the point? Twice the drama, thrice the engineering and zero payoff in E.T. AND SPEAKING OF E.T., who shot this vid and thought that the trap times weren't important to catch in the vid frame? Geez-Louise ...
That's pretty harsh dude, this is when I first started out and I'm using a dslr camera. Check my latest videos out and maybe you'll see some improvement...ya think

I'm a sports car guy, but I'm glad to see that the drag racing crowd has historic races too.

Sweet music to my ears......and I'm not talking about KC and the sunshine band, either
Nice to see 1/4 instead of 1/8
Yes I think 1/4 is best to keep it original I raced in 60'searly 70's s.africa and Santa Pod
Good job thanks for posting
dual `engines doubles the torque right but ,not hp as effectively compared to a single engine right?
i think i was at this event. also this is my childhood right here
This is absolutely wild, I luv this s***! Got some great footage on “H Bomb Baby”, but for my next song video this crazy stuff has gotta be in!
Thanks and get my approval before using any of my copyrighted footage.
Back when I was a boy, we called front engine dragsters “Slingshots”.
Cuando creiste aver visto todo
11:11 Drasgsters de dos motores.
😱😱😱🤯🤯🤯🤯
That nitro injected dragster sounded healthy!! ( 14:23 )
Brave souls to sit between 2 opened wheels ,a trans and a diff at their legs and groin .
Tim Altin

Sweet video and cars, but you might want to invest in a tripod. The bouncing was making me a little dizzy.
If u can't handle the ride from there good luck handling it out there lol. The 'bounce' adds atmosphere!
Please hold the camera loose / still while walking- thanks
Does it have a hood?
I didn't even know that double engine dragsters were allowed!
Those boys never miss a meal do they !

Steveraxx some of these rails are pretty slow...
EXELLENT
Very hot and sporty.! Yea!
BAM...YESSSSSSS POP
14:47 steering is a little bit wonky! Imagine doing 200 mph knowing it’s like that?
I feel like those back tires cost more than the actual car itself
@ 14:43 watch the front tires
Is that the REAL Stone Woods And Cook Willys at 1:57??? Also, you should show the times on the runs.
No thats a replica and the times are shown at the end of a majority of the runs on the actual scoreboard, if your viewing on a cell phone it may be hard to see them but on a desktop they are easily seen
3:04 can’t just brush past the barrel sized supercharger
