Met Andy in 2020 at his store an confirm that he is 100% what you see in his videos. I was deployed to AZ for the border mission and had an opportunity to travel to Phoenix for a day. I took the opportunity to swing by his store. Andy was very welcoming and spent time talking with me. After months of "Army" it was nice to speak with him while in his shop. I bought a small pile of models for myself and a couple of other guys which gave us a nice distraction when we had free time. Cheers Andy!

I have been commenting about wanting to see one of these since you started having 1/16th kits produced so thank you for making it happen. I spent so long on these vehicles I could identify the parts as you were going through the sprues. The parts look fantastic and similar to a good book this kit will be a best seller, I can only imagine the amount of aftermarket items which will be coming out for this, the list is almost endless.
Thank you, Andy for fulfilling my wish to see one of these I can hardly wait.

Thank you Andy. So many of us in Australia have been wanting this for a long time. I actually wrote to Takom on behalf of the M113 model group on Facebook and got no reply. I’m guess that is because you were already in discussions with them. Of all the 1/16 kits available, this is the one for me. Seeing all the detail in your video made me smile. I drove these as a young man and the detail brought back memories. Again thank you for going to the effort and creating this kit.😊

I love your constant interest in what ever you are presenting. I am not going to get into that modification soon, but a Danish uparmored UN A2 version from Kosovo in the '90s. They used the ACAV shield, extra plating front and rear, and used the controversial Israil wavy Urdan side armor. Smoke launhers each side of the rear hatch. It would be so striking in "dirty" white. Always a pleasure to watch you present, unpack or talk about new releases. Regards from Denmark. Alex..

It looks a really great kit Andy. The similarities to the Bradley in interior layout are huge.
I made a Meng (or Mong as a guy from China told me it's pronunced) 1/35 scale Bradley with full interior. Its some kit. I didn't glue the upper hull on as there is so much detail and the turret basket has so much interior detail too. I added a TOW missile leaving the case on the turret; the only thing it was missing. I think the M113 would look good beside it.

Awesome video!!! May just have to get this kit for nostalgia purposes for i rode around in one of these for 5-years in West Germany (M113A2 version) and for 1-year in South Korea (M113A3 version - hated that version), and for 8-years at Fort Riley, KS (M113A2 version). The primary reason for the extra track shoe (think it was 2 extra shoes if memory serves me correctly) on the LEFT side was because the vehicle had a natural tendency to pull to the right because of the weight of the engine being on the right side. The driver had to "fight" the vehicle constantly in order to drive straight, otherwise vehicle may end up in a ditch, run over a tree, or whatever. Not saying that happened to me a few times, but...
Also, whatever unit I was in we would take off those side skirts and place them into storage. Main reason for that was because good sized rocks, chunks of wood, frozen chunks of mud, or whatever had a tendency to get stuck between the top of the tracks and bottom of sponson, get stuck in between the wheels, jam up the idler wheel, or whatever thus causing a rather sudden stop!! There are support bars that hold those rubber side skirts in place. You would have to remove all the bolts that held them in place, remove the end supports as well, clear the obstruction, replace all that nonsense - was easier to leave them off. No side skirts allowed for quicker/easier access to the problem area when in hurry, doing maintenance, or whatever. Only time used the side skirts was for cheesy V.I.P. visits.

any chances of us in New Zealand and Australia being able to order and it gets shipped direct from factory instead to save us on freight? or someone selling on behalf at equivalent price? (seeing the factory is closer) only comment i have so far on details is the tail lights are not quite right (at 14:06) one side should have the slight oval recess with the slot through the middle and slot below, the other should be just a deeper oval recess to fit lens into with the slot below. (shown at the bottom in the video is correct shape for BO Brake side) one is the Blackout Brake Light and Marker the other is a Service Brake Light and Marker. this was standard for a lot of American vehicles from that time. i take full moulding will the floor plates have checker pattern also? another i just noticed is it has the heater and air pipe but will it have the ventilation distribution box on the floor (what the pipe feeds to) good to see little details like combat locks and hatch locks included and even detailed torsion bar holders

Is there anything you can do about your crazy high shipping costs (from your Europe shop) or allow other countries to buy from the US site? I would love to buy from you but your shipping costs (on the Europe site) are considerably higher than other retailers and most of the other retailers take the tax off as well so it makes sense to buy elsewhere where it works out much, much cheaper. Not a complaint, just bringing it to your attention to help get you more direct sales.

Keep an eye on BNA Models in Australia. I purchased both the AHH Korean War M4 and M10 Achilles in 1/16 scale from them a little while ago, and they were quite reasonably priced (as well as the shipping) BUT, it would be nice to have a dedicated AHH store down here to avoid the inevitable price mark-ups that we get pinged with.

Most of the M113s (gas/petrol) that were upgraded to A1 have this hatch. It was an inspection plate for the integral fuel cell (gas/petrol). Only when the diesel engines were mainstream, did they delete that hatch.

You might want to consider offering the later/ larger high visibility marker/brake lights for these, as the style lights you have lasted until the early 70s only. All the 113s I rode, or operated had the larger marker lights. I enlisted in 1976.
    Just a thought.
The radios you have are an RT-524/R-442 set. RT-524 was a Receiver/Transmitter. The smaller radio is a receiver only (R-442). The primary radio (RT-524, or RT-246) would be tuned to the Platoon net, with the receiver only tuned to Company net (commonly referred to as the "Guard radio". This allowed the TC (Tank/Track Commander) to monitor the communications of the element he was a part of, as well as the next level up. Other tracks would have their Guard radio monitoring the Infantry net they were supporting, or the Artillery/Mortar section supporting them, or when available the FAC net (Forward Air Controller) for Helicopters, or Zoomie fast movers.
It is great you have the radios, but I see no antenna mounts. There are three possible options. For the RT you need an MX-2799 for Viet Nam, or the MX-6707 for very late VN, and post. This is a tunable base that automatically switches the internal attenuation of the antenna for optimum transmitting capability. The receiver only, only needed an AB-15, and only used the top section of the fiberglass coated antenna sections, as it only needed to receive. Early on, the antennas were made up of multiple small metal sections that screwed together, but were weak, and very prone to damage in the thick undergrowth of Viet Nam, hence to introduction of the later two piece fiberglass coated antenna sections.
    OK, ramble over.
Oops, I stand corrected: I saw the MX-6707 mounted just behind the drivers hatch. However, the R-442 would need a separate mount, as the two radios can not piggyback off the same antenna.

Nice kit. After spending a few years driving one of these, I have a a soft spot for 113's. Any chance of an engineers version? I spent time in A2's and A3's. On the A2's the benches were replaced with custom built storage boxes (for all our engineer stuff) that doubled as benches. On the A3's, since the fuel filler was not in the way, we had a larger wooden box mounted on the back left deck for our stuff. And of course we can't forget the towed MICLIC.

(1) what your referring to as grab handles are tie down points for 1” straps to be fed through then cinched down securing anything and everything the Section needed. There was no grab handles that I recall. (2) Is the Janitrol heater that was on far right corner against the engine compartment included? Incidentally that heater was the same one used in CH 124 Seaking helicopters! Can’t wait to get one and personalize it to my 31C.

Looks awesome! Not sure if I missed it or not, but is there a current guestimate for the final release?
Also, given the vehicles extensive overseas service life, I hope it will include a decent amount of world wide marking options with the base kit, especially New Zealand Army and Australian Army for our cousins across the ditch (Tasman Sea) without having to go the always expensive aftermarket route.
Would love to see an up armored M-60 Tank in 1/16 scale from AHH to pose alongside it.
Edit: Just pre-ordered. Also, with your store expansion to Europe and now Canada... any plans to expand to the South Pacific to cover Australia/NZ to make shipping/postage a little more affordable? Fantastic kit.A few suggestions, full data on tyres including numbers not just name, small super magnets for the big hatches/doors,simple metal pins for the big hinges.Slide moulded barrels or at least a separate hollow end piece like on the M60s,separate cables even if in one piece, larger diameter rod for the M60s swivel base so they are not so wobbly.I note the molded in track guides thanks heavens!
I understand why they are separate on hollow ones but why not use slide molding,in that case even hollow guides won't have to be glued on all 200 plus of them.
This kit looks even more detailed than the last. It's good to see each kit just getting that little bit better rather than resting on your laurels like some overpriced kits.I'm always looking forward to the next release.keep 'em coming.

Wow, I can see building a few of these. Only nit pick I have is the left tail light shouldn't have that rectangular slot in the oval. It's a solid oval glass on that side

The grab handles that you were referring to are called "footman loops" I was a 63T10 ITV/IFV/CFV SYSTEMS MECHANIC while I served in the Army.

You need two side gunners besides the Commander. Make one look like David Drake.

That is awesome, sorry I can't get the preorder. My wife and I are buying a condo. When the dust settles I will be putting in my order for two. I have an idea for an awesome diorama. Thank you for sharing. That is just awesome.

Hi Andy. Is there a way to keep the ramp in the back up without have to glue it? Looked liked it kept wanting to drop open all the time. Just wondering. Thank you.

I’m not familiar with that version. How hard would they be to scratchbuild from sheet and strip?

Hopefully you will be including clear parts masks. It always makes it a more enjoyable build when you know all the hard work isn't ruined with a bad masking job.

Please Andy, can it have the extra fuel tanks on the back, it makes it look so cool and was widely used in the gulf war.

If this has been asked already, I apologize, will this M113 be released down the road as the non-cav version, I drove the M113A1 & A2 as well the M577's. This it is cool and very tempting, but I'd rather have the INF version, I figured I'd ask before pulling the trigger.

With no diesel engine with the kit, how hard would it be to make it into a RC ACAV putting the drive train, electronics in that space?
