    True, new bulbs are brighter, but not enough in many cases. The bulbs in the '68 panel were all functioning and when we pulled them they all looked recent (enough that we couldn't bring ourselves to throw them away). Won't say they were new but none were grayed like old bulbs can be. We are sold on LEDs in the Ford stuff especially in cars like the '71-'73 and Fairlane/Torino where the lighting was never much to write home about. For the record no JD was hurt in the filming.

    @JeremyBlakeNettles We appreciate the offer Jeremy, however we have Gina's '65 that covers that base. But we are glad that you watch! Keep us up on what your are doing and if there is anything we can cover to help you out!

    Thanks for posting, this video was very informative. I have those tail lights, I am happy to see that they work so well and make an incredible improvement over the stock. Get Lit!

    You can buy the lights from several places. Many of the aftermarket lights are of a smaller diameter and you'll need o-rings to make them stand off the socket correctly. Also be advised that the metal on the light is pretty soft and can be bent. As for LEDs check with your local authorities on usage of the outside LED lights.

    We have had situations where the bulb has two elements in it and one will burn out while the other is OK. Also, do a continuity check from the switch to the back of the car using a test light and long lead. You should be able to determine if you have a bad wire doing that.

    The guys at West Coast Classic Cougar sell a replacement that I highly recommend. Part number: 5870. Good luck!

    @turbocobra Not sure on the EZ. I've not really had any dealings with their product. But looking at Vince and Gina's '65 I have a feeling we'll be needing SOMEBODY's harness for that car. Some harnesses want you to retrain the original sockets for the lights. So that might be the case.

    Pretty much. The '71-'73 will be harder to separate as it is glued.

    We are waiting on a car at Mustang Central to do just that. Oddly the '65 hardtop, with all its issues has great cowls...Who knew.

    Thanks for the video! Looks like some real funny business going on there with the JD! Good job on the scripting and editing. Just the right amount to make the video entertaining. We just did the mustang project shelby lights in our 65, frenched them in for mounting on the inside. We also have a EZ wiring harness. Any thoughts on how to EZ harness will connect to the mustang project shelby sequentials? Thanks Gary

    Pop out to the internet and find a general automotive LED re-seller. If you have the bulb number they will usually have a cross reference available.

    It would be amazing if NPD or another supplier would offer a complete Lighting LED replacement kit. It is so time-consuming to research the light for every single option. I would pay good money for an entire kit for my 67 convertible!

    Have you run into a situation when the actuall brake light function does not work .....but the blinkers, turn signal, reverse light and running lights are working fine? there all in one housing also. ive checked the brake switch and has power and fuse is good.

  • @lionieg
    @lionieg 11 лет назад

    should both wires to the brake switch have power? and in the trunk i have green, brown, and yellow i believe in color wires now should all of them have power?

  • @AutoRestoMod

    LOL It took a while to figure it out. The worst part was the original bulbs! Almost no room to get Jeff's fat fingers in the main opening and around the bulb. He even considered just busting the bulb.The LEDs actually went in easier than the stock stuff.

    are there specific bulbs you have to use for your dash lights? i have a 1978 datsun 280Z. I want to change my interior lights to LED's but i don't know if there are specific bulbs i need.

    Hey guys, My 66 mustang is almost done but i dont like the way it sits. The front end is significantly higher than the back, i was wondering if it would be wise to cut the coil springs in the front or just get a new pare that lower the front end. It is a inline 6 and i can only seem to fin V8 springs. what should i do ?

  • @handsolo01
    @handsolo01 11 лет назад

    can u just buy any old LED lights from say canadian tire or something? or do they have to be special dash lights for the car?

  • @vhockada

    Hey I need help. I installed leds in my instrument cluster only. No where else and I'm getting this sort of crackling noise and then a ping and it repeats. Now I don't know if this is because I need some sort of led flasher. What do you think?

    • @AutoRestoMod
      @AutoRestoMod  7 лет назад

      We'd check and make sure you don't have any loose ground or 12 volt wires in the dash. Grounds will arc, as will loose 12 volt wires.

    • @AutoRestoMod
      @AutoRestoMod  7 лет назад

      Is the new flasher LED compatible? Some aren't. We'd suspect that first.

    Do you have a link for the LED dash bulbs you used?

  • @AutoRestoMod
    @AutoRestoMod  12 лет назад

    @saxophoneman0024 We'd recommend contacting Eaton Detroit Spring (313) 963-3839 The can set you up with fresh springs that are designed to work on your six. Cutting coils will result in a higher spring rate and we don't recommend doing it.
