    I have a Megane E-Tech EV60 Iconic model here in France (LHD) I don't think of it as an SUV, more like a large hatchback. Mine has the full size infotainment screen and a camera for the rear view mirror. The audio stalk with the wheel is a Renault thing from the 1990's! I had the same on my Meganic Scenic. We have had ours for over 6 weeks and done just over 1000 km and no issues and really liking the car.

    • @MrEV
      @MrEV  Год назад +1

      Great to hear! Strangely, the only other Renault I've driven is the old Zoe and I don't remember it having the same style audio stalk. Perhaps it did... my memory is terrible!

      Norwegian here, techno owner(same equipment as you though :) ). Agree with you on everything Done 5k and loving it. It is simply great. As for not a long ride. I live in Western Norway. Driving through to Copenhagen from here will take me one and an half hour longer than in an ice. But thats a lie.
      It would take 13 hours of straight driving to get there. I would never drive that long without stopping to eat, or just take a breather from driving ICE or not. So.. would I be faster in the ICE? Maybe somewhat.. but I don't get why it should be a race.

    Great review Andrew. I was on the waiting list and got a launch edition which has a 360 degree camera which is brilliant and a rear view camera which gets over the small rear window problem. You are the only reviewer I have seen (and I have seen a good number ) who mentioned the warning sound coming from the speaker nearest the potential collision object so good spot you. Keep up the great work and I look forward to your good lady's opinion . I really like mine and gave up a CCS charge connector when I arrived at a charge point to a Tesla because I knew I could charge faster than him on AC as you rightly say it's a very big plus point many reviewers miss.

Just wish your reviews wouldn't be so complimentary about your LEAF - I'm trying to decide what to replace mine with but seems there's no obvious affordable option without some kind of compromise in efficiency/build quality/interior design issues.

    Thanks for this Andrew. We are starting to see the Megan e-tech on the roads here in France but like most EVs of this size (New Kia Niro EV included) they are €10K more than petrol equivalents like the Qashqai, T-Roc, Peugeot 3008 etc). ..I am still plodding on with our 4 year old e-Niro which I know you ran one of for 2 years. Will be interested to get your impressions of how the Renault compares with that car. I get the impression from other reviewers that it is a really solid car that drives well and is very quiet. What puts me off, apart from the outrageous price, is the small back window and less space in the back than the e-Niro.

    I do like the styling compared to many of the other manufactuers rounded designs. The interior also appeals with modern design and usable buttons which is great to see given the move to all touch screens. Certainly a car I would consider. A very useful review and the dark interior colours and shalow rear windows did highlight the slight challenge with the lack of an airy / light feel. May possibly be addressed with a lighter interior colour if available and a panoramic sunroof .... more expense! We need the Flaviana take on the car

    When I remember my dads cars from way back when, none of them had particularly good rear windows. Having said that, I think I've become "spoiled" in recent years by having cars with glass roofs or glass hatchebacks....or both. If I get into a rear seat of car now and its dark, i start feeling a little claustrophobic. But otherwise, looks good.
    Might be one for "the list" when I'm up for a new car.

    A good relaxed, but still informative review. I like a lot about this car, including the google maps, displays and especially the buttons!! But it is dark inside and the efficiency is worrying. I'll stick with my MG5 LR for now, it has buttons, much better efficiency, space and is lighter inside. Oh, and a rear armrest! That settles it 😅

    It's a great looking car, packed with plenty of tech, indeed. I have only seen one on the road, though went to the official launch. The profiteroles will surely fit in the large area under the arm rest? Hahaha. The price would put most off, perhaps, hence the onto try-out suiting some.

Lights go to high & low beam automatically? Do all doors lock once you start driving? Great video's keep it up. I'm from Belgium and this car could become my next company car. (I hope).

    I’ve got the equilibre version and the zappi. Charging with the zappi on a schedule doesn’t work. Myenergi and Renault looking into it. Also there is a knocking sound from rarer suspension when you come if a large speed bump. Park button can get stuck but the rest it’s good. Driving us a pleasure. You can get 4+ mpkw but you have to drive efficiently.

    • @MrEV
      @MrEV  Год назад +1

      That's interesting you mention that. I found it did something weird when I charged on a schedule (it kept 'clicking') but did actually work. I've not had a chance to try it again but that's good to know.

      It’s hit and miss. Fast charging is generally reliable and eco mode, but sometimes you have to keep unplugging it or start with fast mode and then switch to eco ( as we’ve started getting solar excess). You’ll probably hear from other users about this. Be good if you can mention it in video.

    Thanks for the review, this would be a potential ZOE replacement if or when. Not sure when this was filmed but 3.6 for efficiency seems good to me, considering I’m only getting 3.5 from the ZOE at the moment (and that’s an efficient car by all standards!). Also worth mentioning even though the it is dark in the back they have finally incorporated interior lights! 😮

    • @MrEV
      @MrEV  Год назад +2

      I suppose the efficiency is okay, it’s just nowhere near as good as my old e-Niro. In fact, my old Leaf even gets 3.8 miles/kWh - and that’s in the depths of winter!
      This was filmed just a couple of weeks ago and it’s not very cold, so that’s why I feel it should be better. New Megane models do have a heat pump option apparently so I’d go for that.

    Hey Andrew. A french EV channel made a side-by-side road-trip between the Megane and new Niro EV. Despite pretty big gaps in the technical specs, both cars ended up travelling those 620 kms in pretty much the same time. So yes, the Megane is a bit disappointing (probably due to these gigantic wheels that I consider too big for this car size) but still in the game for versatile good EVs. The overall consumption is not far from a model 3 standard range (but the Tesla beats competition on charging).

This sounds minor, but I have 3 kids to fit across the back and they wouldn’t in any comfort. I also need to fit a large hockey goalkeeping bag in the boot and it wouldn’t fit between the wheel wells - it fits in a Renault Scenic with room to spare. What were Renault thinking for what is meant to be a 5 door family hatchback?
