Small correction: Pika spent 3 years in texas AFTER highschool. Her timeline is that she was born in the US Moved to JP with her mom at a young age (She never said exactly when, though implied to be ~6 years old) and stayed there through highschool Went to college in Texas Came back to JP after dropping out
@@wolfeloma Just remember, you need to go for a useful major if you do, and no one cares about your GPA after you graduate, only what you studied. Experience and connections are more important. And graduating with a useful major is enough. If not, I suggest a vocational school or trade school.
She was someone who although did not rise to the heights of like Coco, Gura, Ironmouse and others, her shine is one that will not be forgotten. It honestly aches to think that we have mere hours before she finally leaves for good. This was a beautiful in-depth look of how a small, hardworking gremlin known as Amano Pikamee, have left her mark on the Vtuber industry.

Pikamee was my first real dive into Vtubing, and I wouldn't change that for anything. She's been such a bright and amazing part of my life, and I'm proud to call myself a member of the PIkarmy. You know the internet loved her when 4chan, usually shitting on others opinion and telling people their feelings don't matter, collectively agreed how sad and terrible her graduations is and the attacks on her on Twitter after the whole HL thing. A popular 4chan board, agreeing and uniting under something, is up there on things that doesn't happen in 4chan.
It's a wonderful way to give a sumpt. Alas, there are a lot of characters in this story that are left out like Mamamee, Papamee and Agomee who surely played a major role in the development of her personality. We talk about loneliness but Pika wasn't completely alone and that's the key. It's not only a matter of difficult experiences to forge a person, but also positive mindset and at least a bit of support from someone you love. Her parents in the past, her best friend and pikarmy right now, and maybe a lover in the future. It's like a plant: stinky manure (hard times) to fertilize a good soil (right mindset and lot of willpower) and love and attention from the farmer (her mom, dad and everyone else).
This whole situation hits that deep level sadness that's not going to go away quickly. Pikamee is fantastic, and More than anything I hope she's happy in the future.
I honestly never watched Pikamee, but now that she's Henya, I've started watching her on a regular basis and I love her. She is so sweet and funny, she is probably my favorite vtuber.

I don't usually comment on comment sections that often, but I figured I'd come out and also say thank you for this. I've also been watching Pikamee for almost 3 years, as well as being the more soft-spoken moderator for her chats, and this video really hits a good amount of the very reasons why I stuck around with her for as long as I did. Her journey through the world of vtubing was definitely a unique one, and not only was she really nice and wholesome, she's also managed to cultivate one of the most wholesome communities that actively bridges the gap between Overseas folk like me and native Japanese people, and as a result I've felt a lot closer to many people in the Pikarmy. She will definitely be missed, but I hope that the Pikarmy can keep creating things in dedication to her even after she's gone, and I do hope someday we'll be able to hear her unique voice again. I got into vtubing cuz of Pikamee, and it was kind of late. It struck a cord in me when she was gone. Then the weird happy feeling I got when I found out she reincarnated. Really wholesome. Really glad that good things happen to good people.
I just want to say this because I quit the whole vtuber community part, and Pikamee was the first and the last vtuber that saved my life back in the 2020 I really want to thank you to Hana Macchia and Taka Radjiman from Nijisanji ID because I think both of them are the OG that invited pikamee to a collaboration stream and thus make her name much bigger than before. Hana with her Animal Crossing collab, Taka with his RE collab. I found pikamee through this amazing and wholesome two collab back in 2020 March or April I kinda forgot. VOMS is a wholesome group back at the day, love the OG trio and then Pikamee got more opportunity, and one thing I love the most is, how Pikamee enabled people to be a independent vtuber, and then allowed themself to collab with Pikamee. that is the most wholesome situation that I will never ever see anywhere, and then it allowed those independent vtuber to be known more also Pikamee is really a such wholesome person, really love her storytelling especially about her irl things life will be different, but life must go on, with Pikamee in my heart of course.
Yeah... Pika was whimsical, cheery and open to talk about things in her life in sincere and fun way. After what happened and in her new persona, she sorta like got more professional in her streams. Like her mannerisms changed, more guarded and less open. I guess she got more mature. She is still our adorable little dork and annoying little brat. Everyone pampered her so much that now she in her Kusogaki phase. 😂 Never again tho. Nope.
Pikamee was one of the few titans in this community who drew me in and made me fall further down this rabbit hole. Her graduation has left a hole in my heart that may never be filled, and if it is to be filled; only part way. Wherever she is now and whatever she is doing, I hope she’s doing well. To be clear, Pikamee is not an indie vtuber. Pikamee is a part of VOMS Project, which is run by the artist Gyari Also her name has nothing to do with Pikachu. Pika is the Japanese onomatopoeia for a spark/sparkle. Both of their names come from the same thing.
It is impressive he missed that she is not indie, even says VOMS on some of the clips he is using. Ye it would also be good idea to do basic research into Japanese so one knows why both got pika in their name instead of assuming one copied the other.

The term "Indie" can be applied to groups though. For example, a lot of game development teams are still called "indie" because the group itself is independent. The term means "independent" from major entities like publishing agencies, companies and the like (see Covercorp, Anycolor Inc., Devolver Digital, etc.)
@@Madcat1331 Not for Vtubers. For Vtubers, the term indie is more like they're independent by themselves and have no backing from anyone that provides the asset from them. Like VOMs provides all the assets for their talents and their talents auditions and are then contracted to be part of VOMs. Indie Vtubers are people who started up with models procured/made/designed/came up with by themselves. Which is why, after Pikamee graduated, she cannot keep the twitter account or the discord account and even the RUclips channel, whereas if you're an indie Vtuber, if you were to graduate because of RL circumstances or other things, you can still keep all these accounts for yourself cos it's your own. We can't compare the indie terms used for video game companies and vtuber talents, they differ greatly in their usage.

Very heartfelt video man. Pikamee is a huge part of the VTuber rabbit hole and it will be really surreal to not have her around anymore but I am glad that she is doing this on her own terms and that she had an amazing final month. Pikamee holds a special place in my heart. She introduced me to the world of Vtubers, she made me laugh duing lonely times, and she helped myself and others forget about the outside world, even for a little bit.

Pikamee is unforgettable. I found her back when Monoe was still around, and I loved all three of them, but Pika was the first Vtuber that ever had me going through their archives just to get more of her. She was hilarious, I loved that she was speaking to both her EN and JP viewers, but most of all I think the greatest appeal was how relatable she was. A bilingual "foreigner" with social anxiety that just wanted to have fun and play games, it made me happy that someone like me was having so much fun. I still can't fully believe that she's really leaving, but all I can do is hope that she goes out with it being the happiest time of her life. She truly deserves it for how much joy she has spread to tens of thousands of people in just 3 short years. Dayo ❤

What a beautiful tribute to my oshi. I know I speak for so many people when I say that she was one who brought me into the vtuber rabbit hole. That, and everything you said about her as a person and as a streamer has given her a special place in everyone's hearts. She was an innovator who was one of the leading forces that changed content creation forever and brought so much joy and inspiration to millions of people forever. Vtube will never be the same without her, and she will be dearly missed. I really hope Pika never forgets that. Especially after all the bullying she suffered. I’m proud to call myself her fan. For three years, she took steps, although as small as they were, they accumulated into quite some distance. She fixed her sleep habit, her diet, her posture, and started to exercise. They’re mundane to many, but the first step is always the hardest, and it took courage nonetheless. I can only wish that she would carry this courage together with her wherever she’ll be, and may she be happy.
The only missed opportunity with this video (as of now) is this was probably edited before the DMJ episode yesterday where she explains an English fan letter about her boing boing and he's just like "hai..." 😆 I think I ultimately got interested in Pikamee for the eng/jpn bridge as much as for her comedy. At her heart she was a wholesome kettle, but her occasional rage gaming and flirting with NPCs ("the GIANT LADY she has big boobs") was just so off the wall and crazy. She's amazing and inspirational and we wish her the best. Also my favorite clip/stream ever was the Nobody Explodes with all the VOMS members, especially the segment where Tomoshika declares they all speak English. I'll miss their group dynamic so much. 😢

Thank you for this video. I've only known Pika being a "Veteran Vtuber", but I never paid attention to her until she went to my oshi's birthday. Haven't really watched her after that as well until it was announced that she was going to graduate. So I never knew her past, I only took some of the light contexts from comments, so this video pretty much pieced them up. I'm gonna miss her laugh though. Though I just watch her from clips, it'd be different after she graduates because the clips that will remain are just memories, and no new clips of her will pop up.

I think you got most of the information correct, but if I must nit pick, I would like to add that when she came to Japan she would have been elementary school aged. at that age one can learn a new language fast, but at the same time forget another language. after she finished Japanese HS is when she left for the States for University in TX. then came back to Japan after she dropped out. and I think it would have added to her story if you had talked about her two fathers and how she loves both of them. other than that 10/10 video.

They don't hate "her" in particular. They're Twitter freaks! Their terminal online routine makes them the most toxic creatures earth has ever seen. They hate every one who doesn't agree with them in EVERYTHING, so they basically hate everyone else. Twitter is the echo chamber to these freaks, so unless you have your life depend on it, never use that platform
She had very few haters, and it's safe to assume that nearly all of them knew basically nothing about her. Part of the problem is that improperly developed platforms allow small groups of passionate people gain a disproportionate amount of attention. Twitter, among others, abuses the psychology of rage to suck people into things like addictive doomscrolling, and dehumanized tribalism. Meanwhile soft-news loves to report on trends there as it is an easy source to search for clickbait things to talk about. But again, in reality, it's base of active contributors is very small.

Thanks for this. Found your channel in the recos and your videos are very inspiring. Pikamee is the first vtuber I ever connected with and the reason I’m into vtubers as much as I am today. Although I have nothing to back this up, I also believe Pika’s graduation was just a mutual agreement between her and Gyari. Gyari was her inspiration to become a vtuber, and Gyari at the time was also interested in setting things up as a talent manager, learning himself how to do the character designs and rigging. But eventually, I think Pika grew beyond what Gyari could provide, and they mutually agreed to allow her to graduate so she could expand her horizons more. I like to think this is how someone as sweet as Pikamee saw through her relationship with VOMS. Not wanting to take for granted what Gyari’s group did for her, but at the same time wanting to reach new heights were she is now. That said, yes. I LOVE PIKAMEE AS MY GIRLFRIEND AND SHE IS BOING BOING.

I made sure to watch her last stream, since I never really watched her streams previously, and it was really sad to see her go but glad I could experience her cuteness and kindness one last time.
I'd say Pika was graduating but when wasn't decided, it was the Hogwarts reaction that had her move it up. The location with the merch was contacted to let them know of her graduation to see if that is acceptable still for them to host. Pika's health wasn't that great leading up to February so she was probably planning / talking about it but it was the Hogwarts that made it happen fast.
I miss her already, she was pretty much the Vtuber that sent me down the rabbit hole and I’ve been following her for years. She’s had so many hilarious moments over the years.

It's a wonderful way to give a sumpt. Alas, there are a lot of characters in this story that are left out like Mamamee, Papamee and Agomee who surely played a major role in the development of her personality. We talk about loneliness but Pika wasn't completely alone and that's the key. It's not only a matter of difficult experiences to forge a person, but also positive mindset and at least a bit of support from someone you love. Her parents in the past, her best friend and pikarmy right now, and maybe a lover in the future.
It's like a plant: stinky manure (hard times) to fertilize a good soil (right mindset and lot of willpower) and love and attention from the farmer (her mom, dad and everyone else).
This whole situation hits that deep level sadness that's not going to go away quickly. Pikamee is fantastic, and More than anything I hope she's happy in the future.

I don't usually comment on comment sections that often, but I figured I'd come out and also say thank you for this. I've also been watching Pikamee for almost 3 years, as well as being the more soft-spoken moderator for her chats, and this video really hits a good amount of the very reasons why I stuck around with her for as long as I did. Her journey through the world of vtubing was definitely a unique one, and not only was she really nice and wholesome, she's also managed to cultivate one of the most wholesome communities that actively bridges the gap between Overseas folk like me and native Japanese people, and as a result I've felt a lot closer to many people in the Pikarmy.
She will definitely be missed, but I hope that the Pikarmy can keep creating things in dedication to her even after she's gone, and I do hope someday we'll be able to hear her unique voice again. Thank you once again 🙏

I really want to thank you to Hana Macchia and Taka Radjiman from Nijisanji ID because I think both of them are the OG that invited pikamee to a collaboration stream and thus make her name much bigger than before.

To be clear, Pikamee is not an indie vtuber. Pikamee is a part of VOMS Project, which is run by the artist Gyari
Also her name has nothing to do with Pikachu. Pika is the Japanese onomatopoeia for a spark/sparkle. Both of their names come from the same thing.
It is impressive he missed that she is not indie, even says VOMS on some of the clips he is using.
Ye it would also be good idea to do basic research into Japanese so one knows why both got pika in their name instead of assuming one copied the other.

The term "Indie" can be applied to groups though. For example, a lot of game development teams are still called "indie" because the group itself is independent.
The term means "independent" from major entities like publishing agencies, companies and the like (see Covercorp, Anycolor Inc., Devolver Digital, etc.)
@@Madcat1331 Not for Vtubers. For Vtubers, the term indie is more like they're independent by themselves and have no backing from anyone that provides the asset from them. Like VOMs provides all the assets for their talents and their talents auditions and are then contracted to be part of VOMs.
Indie Vtubers are people who started up with models procured/made/designed/came up with by themselves.
Which is why, after Pikamee graduated, she cannot keep the twitter account or the discord account and even the RUclips channel, whereas if you're an indie Vtuber, if you were to graduate because of RL circumstances or other things, you can still keep all these accounts for yourself cos it's your own.
We can't compare the indie terms used for video game companies and vtuber talents, they differ greatly in their usage.

Pikamee is unforgettable. I found her back when Monoe was still around, and I loved all three of them, but Pika was the first Vtuber that ever had me going through their archives just to get more of her. She was hilarious, I loved that she was speaking to both her EN and JP viewers, but most of all I think the greatest appeal was how relatable she was. A bilingual "foreigner" with social anxiety that just wanted to have fun and play games, it made me happy that someone like me was having so much fun.
I still can't fully believe that she's really leaving, but all I can do is hope that she goes out with it being the happiest time of her life. She truly deserves it for how much joy she has spread to tens of thousands of people in just 3 short years.

What a beautiful tribute to my oshi. I know I speak for so many people when I say that she was one who brought me into the vtuber rabbit hole. That, and everything you said about her as a person and as a streamer has given her a special place in everyone's hearts. She was an innovator who was one of the leading forces that changed content creation forever and brought so much joy and inspiration to millions of people forever. I’m proud to call myself her fan. For three years, she took steps, although as small as they were, they accumulated into quite some distance. She fixed her sleep habit, her diet, her posture, and started to exercise. They’re mundane to many, but the first step is always the hardest, and it took courage nonetheless.
I can only wish that she would carry this courage together with her wherever she’ll be, and may she be happy.
The only missed opportunity with this video (as of now) is this was probably edited before the DMJ episode yesterday where she explains an English fan letter about her boing boing and he's just like "hai..." 😆 I think I ultimately got interested in Pikamee for the eng/jpn bridge as much as for her comedy. At her heart she was a wholesome kettle, but her occasional rage gaming and flirting with NPCs ("the GIANT LADY she has big boobs") was just so off the wall and crazy. She's amazing and inspirational and we wish her the best.
Also my favorite clip/stream ever was the Nobody Explodes with all the VOMS members, especially the segment where Tomoshika declares they all speak English. I'll miss their group dynamic so much. 😢

Thank you for this video. I've only known Pika being a "Veteran Vtuber", but I never paid attention to her until she went to my oshi's birthday. Haven't really watched her after that as well until it was announced that she was going to graduate. So I never knew her past, I only took some of the light contexts from comments, so this video pretty much pieced them up.
I'm gonna miss her laugh though. Though I just watch her from clips, it'd be different after she graduates because the clips that will remain are just memories, and no new clips of her will pop up.

I think you got most of the information correct, but if I must nit pick, I would like to add that when she came to Japan she would have been elementary school aged. at that age one can learn a new language fast, but at the same time forget another language. after she finished Japanese HS is when she left for the States for University in TX. then came back to Japan after she dropped out.
and I think it would have added to her story if you had talked about her two fathers and how she loves both of them.

She had very few haters, and it's safe to assume that nearly all of them knew basically nothing about her. Part of the problem is that improperly developed platforms allow small groups of passionate people gain a disproportionate amount of attention. Twitter, among others, abuses the psychology of rage to suck people into things like addictive doomscrolling, and dehumanized tribalism. Meanwhile soft-news loves to report on trends there as it is an easy source to search for clickbait things to talk about. But again, in reality, it's base of active contributors is very small.

Thanks for this. Found your channel in the recos and your videos are very inspiring. Pikamee is the first vtuber I ever connected with and the reason I’m into vtubers as much as I am today.
Although I have nothing to back this up, I also believe Pika’s graduation was just a mutual agreement between her and Gyari. Gyari was her inspiration to become a vtuber, and Gyari at the time was also interested in setting things up as a talent manager, learning himself how to do the character designs and rigging. But eventually, I think Pika grew beyond what Gyari could provide, and they mutually agreed to allow her to graduate so she could expand her horizons more.
I like to think this is how someone as sweet as Pikamee saw through her relationship with VOMS. Not wanting to take for granted what Gyari’s group did for her, but at the same time wanting to reach new heights were she is now.
That said, yes. I LOVE PIKAMEE AS MY GIRLFRIEND AND SHE IS BOING BOING.

I'd say Pika was graduating but when wasn't decided, it was the Hogwarts reaction that had her move it up. The location with the merch was contacted to let them know of her graduation to see if that is acceptable still for them to host.
Pika's health wasn't that great leading up to February so she was probably planning / talking about it but it was the Hogwarts that made it happen fast.
I miss her already, she was pretty much the Vtuber that sent me down the rabbit hole and I’ve been following her for years. She’s had so many hilarious moments over the years.
