This band, this music in this snapshot of time is a moment of magic that I don't think I'll ever recapture in my lifetime. It is such an aching nostalgia, a pooling memory beneath a fading but still beautiful ice sculpture.
This is easily the best example of music as art, both in composition and performance, that I have heard in many years. I am truly impressed. Absolutely brilliant.
I saw them twice on this tour. Such a huge privilege. I took my late mother to see them in Chicago and she was so delighted and enchanted by them. Thank you, Punch Brothers, for the magical musical spell you always cast over your audience.
Such a pleasure to enjoy a band of master players being so human and simple delivering their craft for all of us to enjoy! Please support as much as you can so we can keep enjoying and being a pilar in the journey of this amazing kind players. it's so important to provide them with what they need. because in a world that many things are going wrong the ones that bring beauty, passion, peace, joy, and all the good thing on this world are actually the resistance taking the flag on their hands through their lives to show us thats the is so much more!
the fact that these guys have so much chemistry and musical awareness that they can, with one microphone, play with dynamics just by moving in and out still astounds me.
It is truly awesome that aspect of this performance. It's hard to believe that they are using a single mic. I own the same mic. Think it's time to rethink it's already awesome capabilities
to work a single mic is very impressive. i hear they have in-ear monitors (perhaps not here, but def for practicing), where they can hear the signal the mic picks up as they play, so they can make real time adjustments to step forward or back. it definitely helps i'm sure
Nearly four years on and they are still unbeatable. I've replayed this many times and there's still so much more to hear. Phenomenal musicianship, massive heart. Great recording.
I keep coming back to this; these brilliant musicians, the stunning songs, the harmonies and incredible instrumental talent. Thank you for making even this awful pandemic bearable. The joy of music makes it much easier to carry on. Bless you all!
what an awesome concert....getting to see some new ones live like Between 1st and A and Forgotten...plus some of those old ones like It'll Happen and Alex... And boy Critter is making some crazy faces at times! lol. Familiarity without the drums, still awesome... you can tell the exhaustive nature of that piece, as Thile just seems wiped out after that....amazing show!
I am continually stunned by these fine gentlemen. The precision and expertise with which they play is amazing. I'm a fairly competent violinist, and a pretty bad mandolinist. I love Chris Thile so much and hate him at the same time. God damnit. This band is amazing.
I know that Punch Brothers songs are never really definitive and are always evolving, however I feel like the way these songs were performed at this concert comes the closest to being anything like the definitive versions.
the punch brothers are incredible band i tried to follow paul kowert on instagram he rejected 2 times its cool chris thile amazing mandolin players and also paul, gabe, noam
33:25 or thereabouts - This Girl cadenza. Look at how Critter is just so over the moon with Gabe and Pickles duelling :-) And even Kowert gets into it!
Impresionante. He escuchado todos sus discos en los últimos días, cada uno con su personalidad. Son fabulosos. Esto es verdaderamente original, musical, todo, una banda sublime.
I applaud the single mic wholeheartedly! It's so much more dynamic in every respect. Watch the House of Blues 2015 full show recording to see and hear the difference. The sound is less exciting (if that's possible), and you lose the glorious interplay of goofy personalities all squeezed together on one little rug.
You guys are my absolute heroes! Please come down under one day, soon. And that includes New Zealand too! You could play at Byron Bay Blues Festival over Easter 2018 then hop over to NZ...there you go all sorted!!!
Hey guys. I'm finally catching up on your amazing stuff. I think Punch Brothers are the pared down/acoustic version of Steely Dan...if I squint my eyes. Thank you for holding the highest standard of excellence any one could set for themselves ! ! !
Every minute seems better than the next. Just awesome!! Bros! Thank you for being so dedicated to this brilliant music! We are all the beneficiaries of your effort.
Sitting in this concert, front row, right under Chris and the guys...I’m so thankful this was filmed on Yahoo! I felt privileged to be a part of this particular evening. Lucky me, I get to see them as much as I can! Go see them in concert, you will not be a bit disappointed. Cheers!

I'm beginning to get it... this is music that has to be listened to over and over again. The lyrics go deep, which means you have to listen... or I have to listen. I'm inclined to listen to music and ignore lyrics... which is fine but there is more here to appreciate. Okay.
GTFO, they encored with Familiarity and opened with Between 1st and A? --and they played Eleventh Reel and It'll Happen? I know I'm late on this, but for crazy fans like myself this is an interesting setlist.

+fenando ledesma Did you really just spell "many" as "my" while calling someone else out on their mistakes? You made one huge mistake during a 5 word statement, while complaining that critter might have made a mistake somewhere that I didn't even notice during an hour and 48 minutes of complicated music. Stop and think about that for a second.
I never, ever liked Chris Thile as the replacement for Garrison Keillor on The Prairie Home Companion radio show... Not one of his episodes, even though I tried to listen to a lot of them. In my view he was a real misfit for that particular job... Trying to be cute and funny, but ending up being neither. As for as Chris Thile's role in Nickel Creek... I am just about as disinterested. But... In Punch Brothers, Chris Thile absolutely excels. Fantastic. How can such a contrast be? Must be the chemistry with the band. Anyway, one out of three ain't bad at all (in this case)!

What a nice guy...
Thorbjørn André Bilstad Olsen thank you
Thank you mate. Cheers.
I want to have your babies.
"Alone, A man among amens." Such a great lyric line.
Familiarity is incredible.
I place Chris Thile as one of the most talented musicians on the planet and this band is just incredible.
Three years later and I have to agree. These guys and "I'm With Her" are getting me through this pandemic.
Agreed!!
Agreed! Any bands that are on the same or higher level of musicality, story, harmony?
Absolutely
You should get out more
This band, this music in this snapshot of time is a moment of magic that I don't think I'll ever recapture in my lifetime. It is such an aching nostalgia, a pooling memory beneath a fading but still beautiful ice sculpture.
I can't even relate anymore to people who don't love this band. I don't even know what to say to them. They might as well be space aliens.
I think they're soo Eclectic that people have a hard time getting into the music. I, as a musician, can relate. I get blown away every time.
This is fantastic! This is REAL music! Thank you, Punch Brothers for this breath of fresh air!
This is easily the best example of music as art, both in composition and performance, that I have heard in many years. I am truly impressed. Absolutely brilliant.

Yes. Using a single mike is an art, and PBros has it down!
Adrian S I know it’s an old(er) vid, but can you tell me, however to they hear? Do they have l1 s in the wings or the pit?
Yeah, it really is amazing. They have such an amazing way of playing together. It's true chamber music.

I'm glad this guy decided to visit our planet and these guys decided to bet on him.
These guys are the greatest thing happening right now: Best band in the world!
Anything CHris touches seems to be gold. And he's got so many years to go!
They are not musicians, they are magicians!
Lost track of how many times I have listened to this whole concert.
Love how the bass player is the chillest of them all but plays like a total beast.
One genius musician + 4 virtuoso + 1 mic = Birthday everyday
Nearly four years on and they are still unbeatable. I've replayed this many times and there's still so much more to hear. Phenomenal musicianship, massive heart. Great recording.

This is ridiculously amazing!
Every song is great! and Chris Eldrige's beard looks so soft. Perfect !
This is the ultimate musical experience. The dynamics are perfect, and so creative, and all with one mic. Punch Brothers are simply phenomenal :)
I love Debussey time! XD In Wonder and Alex are definite highlights for me. Fantastic.
Just an amazing concert of theirs. Glad we can still enjoy it!
what an awesome concert....getting to see some new ones live like Between 1st and A and Forgotten...plus some of those old ones like It'll Happen and Alex... In a word...virtuosity! Crazy chops and more, stunning dynamics, the best!! Blown away here!
Thank god for progressive music. . .
"New York City" is truly a work of art! So glad to see a performance of it!!!
Can't wait to see them on August 8th in Charlottesville; my daughter is driving down from Canada to experience the show of a lifetime with me!
Noam Pikelny reminds me of John Entwistle: still as a statue, almost bored expression, but gets unbelievable sounds from his instrument.
Don't forget a wry sense of humor ...
yeh, we don't get a great view of his hands much, there's a lot happening there!
I am continually stunned by these fine gentlemen. The precision and expertise with which they play is amazing.

...so beautiful….so perfect…it's like a wonderful dance the way you move and play together…PLEASE ALL COME TO EDINBURGH WITH CHRIS
the next best band nobody knows ; ) what fun to listen to!
What is there to say? Wow 🌱💚🌱
One microphone! How perfect is that!
the punch brothers are incredible band i tried to follow paul kowert on instagram he rejected 2 times its cool chris thile amazing mandolin players and also paul, gabe, noam
Seen them, will see them, always leave me speechless
I saw these guys last night and was simply blown away by how talented these guys are.
33:25 or thereabouts - This Girl cadenza. Look at how Critter is just so over the moon with Gabe and Pickles duelling :-) And even Kowert gets into it!
I've been to hundred of concerts. The level of musicianship of these guys at this show was phenomenal.
Impresionante.
He escuchado todos sus discos en los últimos días, cada uno con su personalidad.
Son fabulosos.
Esto es verdaderamente original, musical, todo, una banda sublime.
Fabulous! Wit, charm and killer chops!
I love Noam just SHREDDING during magnet.
And the camera got none of it.
Yep, very annoying. They need to film all their sets picture-in-picture, with Noam constantly being filmed in one of the screens.
1:18:36 for the absolutely ridiculous jaw-dropping bass playing
Some of that melody reminds me of pirates of the Caribbean
I applaud the single mic wholeheartedly! It's so much more dynamic in every respect. Watch the House of Blues 2015 full show recording to see and hear the difference. Great sound and rhythm. love it
Wow. Amazing talents.
the banjo player has an amazing voice.
I thought that was breathtaking

This band is so good it's unreal.
Their approach is orchestral! Amazing for a 5 piece band to bring that off.
Nice, brought in The Eleventh reel from Thile's solo album. Good show!
Un-freaking-believable!
🙋👏👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍
Wonderful thanks!!!!
Awesome music artists and performance.I have to make an effort to see Chris Thile in concert . 😊🌹🎶😊🌹🎶
Es tener a Chris Thile en una banda y hacerla imprescindible. Un genio.

Mornin' Bassist!
I used to get a substance abuser vibe... glad it has passed in recent years.
oops i forgot to mention chris elridge too my mistake

no I said Left critter in the first comment
lol, I can't read. Too many mistakes!!! Please accept my apologies!
thats cool
I hate that the audio is so soft in this. Can't turn this up loud enough for my Bose headphones. come on, y'all.
The sound is perfect. Use an amp if you need to. You'll see!

What happened to the middle of 'No More. Yet'?
Master Model banjo?
What was the reason for the cut in No More. Yet?
+Kyle Elkins RUclips copyright was the reason.
Banjo guy - he seems like 'whatever'. Perhaps, in his head, he is rocking like dokken.
But he does have a nice dry sense of humor part where he talks at about 26 min.
didnt know jude law could shred on the mandolin xd
Chihook!
Noam looks like he's been getting rye sleep.
Jude Law is a singer now?
obviously. brilliant musicians but it goes off in so many directions just to try to be different that you can get lost along the way.
You clearly got lost.

yiutube
its ok. If ricky scaggs could teach them a couple runs it would be better..
*cheers* Here's to being confused because they do runs all the time, and a few times in the show...
Visually, Chris Thile just annoys the crap out of me. Love the music and his playing though.
