I have seen many vlogs of periyar tiger trails. But this one stands out from all those. Great presentation. Narrating only the needed and forest sounds.❤
Am happy to know, Thanks a lot 🙂🙏
What a lovely vlog and such a scenic place. Periyar is indeed so beautiful. Nice captured as well. Feels so fresh to see such greens
Thanks Naba 🙂🙏
I wish our Karnataka forest department deployed such initiatives to promote ecotourism, this is very essential in carving a healthy relationship between us and wildlife. It's very informative and please provide reasonable accommodation.
I agree, there are lots of beautiful places in Karnataka where similar programs can be implemented.
I always wait for ur videos brother🎉🎉 sonice and clear r ur videos
Happy to know, Thanks 🙂🙏
Wow. Waiting for next part 🤩

Such a beautiful place with some adventure. Stunning view shreyas 👌

Wow this is amazing. Being a wildlife lover myself enjoyed this so much. Beautiful to see your genuine videos with smooth narration of whatever that you see. The trek route was beautiful and thrilling. It must have been so exciting. How nicely they've engraved birds on stones with names. Beautiful video and enjoyed it so much. What a beautiful river and trail with capture of the Nilgiri Langur. What an amazing campsite after all this trekking. Wowww. Oh god your evening trek just must have been so thrilling. Beautiful sighting of the tusker grazing and the sambar deers. Just loved this so much. All the very best and waiting for your next.
Thanks a lot for the detailed review, and yes it was very beautiful and exciting to visit that place.
Super Maga 🙌, always happy to watch ur channel
Thanks 🙂🙏
I have been to the Periyar Tiger Reserve several times during my growing up years in nearby Madurai. Really tough place to spot a tiger. We were there last in 2017 and we tried staying there multiple days at various resorts inside like Lake Palace, a Watchtower stay etc and all we saw were elephants and deer and other animals. No tigers though 30-35 are supposed to be in that reserve.
You should take a Jeep ride or even stay inside this nearby place called Gavi which is also part of z Thekkady. We saw sloth bears and lots of elephants. The guide told us they had a tiger sighting there 2 weeks before we were there.
I had a tiger sighting in Anamalai Tiger Reserve ( back then it was called Indira Gandhi Tiger Reserve) and it was totally accidental while we were returning from somewhere in a government Jeep ( my dad used to be an engineer for TNEB and was stationed there for over 3 years in Sholayar Power Station). The tiger just stared at the Jeep with its eyes glowing in the headlights for 30 seconds before disappearing into the darkness and trees. I had a camera but no film roll left even to attempt a shot and this was mid 80s.
We used to go hang out in Thekkady multiple times but never seen a tiger there. Lots of elephants. Those walking safaris are total duds. That watchtower stay experience is pretty good but the Gavi forest drive is even better
We saw tigers at the Nagarahole Tiger reserve at Kabini.. Good place but their prices are high for the locals. I didn’t feel it was expensive because I was paying in USD but for a family of 4 for 2 days, it’s like $1200 ( We were just two and paid about $600 for 2 days). I wonder how regular people living in Bangalore or Mysore can afford to take their family there for a weekend. Tiger safaris seem like a moneyed people’s hobby in India or foreign visitors.
Good to know about your experience and agree in periyar it's difficult to spot tigers since there are no jeep safaris and also the land is surrounded by water. But trekking offers a wonderful experience to immerse into the wild.
@@Shreyas.Ranganath Totally agree.. It is the experience which matter more than Tiger sighting. People get so dejected after not sighting of Tigers after safaris is actually should visit circus/zoo's
@@Abraracourix I guess you had a very comfortable stay for $600. The normal cost is around $240 for 2 and most of these are well booked in advance from people living in bangalore , Mysore & Rest Of World visitors. More than affordability it's the reservations which has become a challenge. Famous people like Shreyas and Naba might not have encountered this problem as they are well known within the forest department but for normal people like us, advanced booking is the only way to have a glimpse of wildlife.
No, i book all my safaris online only on government websites, it's just that we need to keep trying for availability.....
@ We paid $600 ( approximately).for two people for two days that includes 2 jeep safaris per day or a boat safari in lieu ( we took one of those plus 3 jeep safaris) .
It’s not a deal breaker for me but I wondered how locals who go with family and kids can afford it. It was a good deal for us compared to what we have paid in East and Southern Africa.
Excellent video Shreyas, sorry it took me a week to get to watch it, I've started a new job.
Thank you Brother 🙏
Thanks 🙂🙏 and best wishes...👍

Nice vlog
Just please mention the date of travel in description 😊
Thanks 🙂
It's really awesome and stunning. What are the charges, please could tell us about charges and staying?? I will discuss with family and plan for this month end.
Thanks a lot 🙂🙏 Please find the link in description which has details of the charges.
@@Shreyas.Ranganath Yes got it, It's bit expensive but worth of wandering trekking and life time experience with memories. Thank you so much.
Why don't you create a group of trekking. If others want to join? This was wonderful
Thanks.....will think about it...
Isn't it very dangerous to walk in these kind of forests?
These are guided tracks. Guards and fueld officer will accompany us and have tactics to know the dangers of the area. First they will investigate thoroughly and we will be at some distance behind them. They will confirm if we can continue further.
@chethunayi Makes sense.
Chetan explained it well ...🙂
OK... I was wrong! I thought this was kabini
What do you mean by a "premier tiger reserve"? Periyar looks green as it's in the western Ghats but there are hardly any tigers here. The density of tigers here is probably very low. Nothing survives in Kerala. Everything is hunted down and eaten up. As you come away from Kerala the wildlife increases and vice versa. There is nothing Royal about Kerala for the Royal Bengal tiger but Karnataka is. A good Keralite friend of mine who hails from a family owning Cardamom estates in Periyar was astounded at the variety and abundance of widlife in Bandipur and said Periyar doesn't hold a candle to our wilderness areas. So please don't get carried away by the little you see in this intensely protected small area. The inner areas are all probably empty.
The terrain of Periyar and Bandipur are vastly different, also in periyar a lot of land is submerged under the dam backwaters, and a lot of terrain is hilly. Another reason that tigers are spotted relatively easily in Bandipur is since the animals are accustomed to vehicles for generations. And in periyar a lot of land is inaccessible and there are no dedicated jeep safaris. Basically these are 2 different terrains and not fair to compare.
