I've always lived with the notion that my health is PRIMARILY MY RESPONSIBILITY ! I don't smoke, I don't drink alcohol, I'm not overweight (or underweight)) I don't use drugs, and I try to eat sensibly. This would be a lot healthier world if people had the discipline and courage to exercise a little common sense, and stop waiting for someone to take care of them. I'm close to 80 !

This is super important and I’m glad people are bringing attention to it. American food is bad and unhealthy. I lived in Southeast Asia and they don’t eat like we do. Too much processed food and healthy food is too expensive which makes no sense

What no one talks about is the prices of healthy foods are super expensive. Single ingredients together add up to more than ready made meals. I'm not making excuses, but food should not be as expensive as it is right now. I saw an avocado for 6 bucks on its own. Just 1.

So called "healthy foods" do not cost as much to produce as evidenced by the retail price. There is a "health" premium charged for these items.
For example, there is one "organic" grocery store that sells organically grown nuts for about $16 per pound. They buy them for about $5 per pound. When asked their response was because there are people willing to pay this price, so we will price it at that.
Another way to help is to not buy prepared foods, buy fresh fruits and vegetables and meats. Frozen vegetables are good.
It the plastics, go back to glass we had less issues. No corn sweeteners in foods, stop the processed foods
Yes, but make large portions that will last another day. Cheap veggies are this: Tomatoes, onions, potatoes, cabbage, broccoli, celery: get a whole fryer and boil it, make a soup. Add white rice to it for the next day. We have been to lazy and full of excuses. Fast Foods establishments love lazy people. Just make an effort and cook and invest in Mason Jars too.
