I think it was a good choice to mesh the other meso American myths together with the aztec as the base, there's scarce sources on these myths, and you can't just throw a bunch of gods at the wall like you can with Greek mythology so it helps flesh out the world
True, plus a lot of the Mayan pantheon has similarities to the Aztecs and other neighboring cultures and most likely have been meshing together since the old Teotihuacan days or earlier I'm just happy that these gods are getting the screen time they deserve with recent shows like this
I just finished watching this show and I’m not a tv person. I rarely binge watch shows and I’m notorious for watching one episode of a series and not finishing it. That said: MY GOD, I loved this show!! I’m with you, I need a 2nd season.
I also couldn't stop watching this one. Maybe one day it will return, although lately there has been a rise of more Latin and Mesoamerican shows & movies which is always nice to see

This show has nothing to do with mesoamerican cultures, only people who think think they got it right is people who knows nothing of mesoamerican cultures, this show is just another generic ainme with some mesoamerican name they got from wilipedia.

I found this while researching into Aztec mythology as it is portrayed in media.
I think it is also worth noting that Zapotec and Totonac civilizations appear and the flying people representing totonac cultures is so cool!
