I had an Amazon driver dumber than this one time. Didn't even mark it as delivered: he just stopped on the porch, turned around and left again, in full view of my SO through the front door window. Also have consistent issues with anything needing a signature from traditional delivery sources: once watched the UPS guy come on my porch with not my package, but just the "we missed you" sticker. Bastard even lied about it and the doorbell he didn't ring. "Just gimme my fuckin' package" got through his thick skull, and he practically threw it at me.
So yeah, I believe that story.

I am having a squabble with Amazon about a package that they received, but the chat people want to know who picked it up! Returned the package back in October and STILL haven't gotten a refund!

@@davidconklin9552 This is why I only will return packages somewhere I get a confirmation slip. And the moment I step away from the counter, the slip gets photographed, and the pic gets sent to my storage server. Learned to be really careful when I almost got stuck with paying for an expensive item I'd returned because it was utterly destroyed in shipping which they'd somehow lost track of in the return.
The last support person I got (who was generous and took my very adamant word for it, thankfully) gave me a tip that the confirmation number was pretty much just made of solid gold. Super important to keep for a bit.

Same thing happened to me but with FedEx. I just parked and was walking behind the delivery guy (he'd just pulled up too) and the guy stuck a missed delivery note on the door. I live in a 15 unit apartment building so it didn't immediately register that the package was for me till I read the note. I yelled back at the guy that I'm the recipient and I can take the package. He didn't try to fight me or anything, he just handed me the package (I'm a big 6 ft 2 guy so that may have played a part.) That package wasn't anything important but what if it had been somebody's medication or something else vital to the recipient. What a crummy thing to do.

Package Deliver Scam wouldn't work at my home...in addition to the two high mounted cameras watching the street in front of my home, I have a third camera mounted on the slab of wood the Address Numbers are screwed to beside my door watching the front walk and porch steps so any delivery driver that delivers my packages are on camera as they walk up the steps and can easily see the camera staring at them and if they're still holding the package as they walk away, that too is on camera...either way, EVERY person walking up the steps to (or down them away from) my porch and front door is seen by the cameras so deliveries are recorded as are thieves...and I WILL call the Police and Press Charges if anyone steals one of my packages (or claims to deliver it but isn't recorded walking to my door with the package)...
Hasn't happened yet, but maybe that's because of just how blatantly obvious I was with the camera locations...thieves just know they'll be on film and pick a less protected target...

I was an ORI inspector and every once in a while it wasn't just an exercise. I'll never forget the time a young Sgt. decided not to pack his duffle with the required items, because it was too heavy to drag around. Instead, he loaded his bag with underwear and newspapers. That's exactly how the bag arrived in Germany when the plane he thought was merely going to simulate flight, actually took off.😄

    3:55 - Military Inspection Story.
I was an inspector for one of those ORIs inspecting an MSA (official acronynm used to bypass possible YT Censorship basically meaning "80mb Dump"....a place where the Air Force stores items containing 3×p10$!^3$) on their response to different situations. On the inject I received and later asked for the clarification from the head inspector, "Enemy blows up the MSA, 1 personnel dead, 1 personnel injured." I asked him for clarification on how this is supposed to happen. Break in? Aircraft bombing campaign? Inside job? His response: "I don't know, just hand the scenerio to someone and see how they react. Don't give any more input to it than what is written there. It's already been vetted.
I pushed slightly pointing out the impossible scenerio and he just said, "Run with it." So, when the time came, I did. I took out 2 players for simulated injury and death then handed the form to a very competent E5 who is in charge of managing everything in the MSA.
He looked at me very confused and I just explained what was told to me. The entire possible scenerios and complaints I went through with the head inspector went up completely. Took at least 5 minutes for him to figure out possible ways to respond because if he were to be realistic to the scenerio (the scenerio is statistically impossible) there would be zero MSA survivors to include half our Base and possibly some civilians due to the destruction of our MSA (even it occured spontaneously). On the miracle chance SOMEBODY was alive and capable, that person would have to inform the Emergency Authorites to include Civilian Emergency Services to evacuate the entire area of all surviving civilians.
Eventually he just decided to treat it like a fire emergency and evacuated. We stood outside waiting for the all clear to return in. Head inspector was wondering why we were waiting outside for so long even though he explicitly told me they were not clear to end it. I wish I could have been a fly on the wall for the results of that scenerio from the details of my report were given. They learned to run any MSA related scenerios by the leader of the MSA before expecting me to do them in the future. Unfortunately, I'm too low on the Wing Inspector rung to be consulted in their ORI Planning meetings.

Many years ago I worked at a small town gas station and the owner suspected that these 3 local teens (they were sisters) were stealing from the store, but we never could get any hard proof past full products suddenly had 3 missing when none were purchased.
So one day the 3 sisters come in along with a few of their friends, so I wander past them down one aisle, then back up towards them in another aisle. I stop right by them and ask if thy needed anything. They say no, and I continue to stay put. They look nervous and ask why I am not going back to the cash register. I say that we have been noticing that a pattern of thefts has been occurring and have narrowed it down to about 5 people. So now anytime one of those 5 people enter the store we will be following them VERY closely. And that when we catch them stealing we will give them a life ban along with whoever came in with them. The 3 sister's friends looked confused but the 3 sister's eyes all got a guilty/concerned look. After that we had no more thefts of 3 items, we still had the occasional theft but it was rare and never seemed to happen around when the 3 sisters came around, though they also seemed to not come around as much after that day.

I spent 3 birthdays in a row celebrating them in an ORI, in a Mobility line, getting on a KC-135 aircraft with the equipment I packed, looking at me a few inches from my face. I had to do UXO walks many times, of course, airmen are cheap fodder. We never had solid walls, always wire around us with sandbags bunkers, and fire pits. I would have done the same thing too being the smartA$$ I could be...LOL. All UXOs were painted blue to show as dummy bombs which made them easy to find. Chemical training was a little different but that's for another story.

I work for one of the 3 major carriers & this happens more than you think. Sometimes it isn't theft but the driver is a lazy POS who doesn't want to walk any further than 10 ft. Now that everyone has cameras these drivers are getting their arse chewed out or fired for lying or theft of time. FedEx is the worst. I have called & had a "come to Jesus meeting" with the hub all because the driver was too lazy to drive up my driveway & drop off my parcel. He marked it "address not found" as he sat at the foot of my driveway & I watched him look up,see the driveway & turn around in my driveway & drove off. Well big boy was back 45 min later red faced & mad with my gaming chair. I stood & watched him unload & carry that heavy @$$ box all the way to my door step. Since I work for carrier 2 I will film the driver if they pull that stunt,go in show the drivers supervisor, center manager & raise hell. Pretty satisfying watching them get chewed out.

I order a lot via Amazon. We don't have Amazon drivers. UPS does his job, delivering to my doorstep. USPS and FedREx both refuse to enter my gate, and just "dump&dash", either yeeting the package over my fence, or just dropping it in my driveway. Being handicapped and mobility impaired, and basically housebound, it is difficult and rather dangerous for me to get down and back up the steps. Even asking them to bring the package to the front porch, nope. "We aren't required to enter a gate", or "I'm afraid there is a dog!" Crap, last dog on this property died 25 years ago. Just pure laziness. Don't want to do their job.
Phoning them is useless, if they even answer.... usually not.
Have also gotten the e-mail message " Couldn't deliver. Driveway unaccessable." Sheesh. Clear open street, smooth open concrete driveway, front porch light illuminating entire front yard and driveway. As said, pure laziness!

In general, the delivery drivers in my area are okay, but the trailer park I live at confuses them. You see, there's a handful of residences, 1 through 6. Now, for most, this wouldn't be an issue, as it would be Trailer 1, Trailer 2, and so on. But, this isn't so for my place, because trailer 1 might be the one at the far end of the driveway, the trailer next to it isn't Trailer 2, it's actually Trailer 4 (I would know, because I'm the fella in that particular one).
Cue the new drivers. They do not know where folks live. Here is a common occurrence.
Me: (Walking to get the mail)
New Driver: (Coming down quarter of a mile driveway.) Hey buddy. Are you (Trailer number)?
Me: Um, no. What's the name?
    ND: It's for (Person).
Me: Ah, that would be (trailer of certain color/location).
    ND: Thanks.
Some weeks later, Same Driver, pulls right into my spot.
Driver: Say, buddy. Could you help me locate (my trailer number/name)?
    Me: That would be me.
Driver: Oh, that was easy. (Gives me my package) Have a nice day.

Last story: ordered some items from Amazon December of 2018. Tracking shows a 12 26 delivery date so head out about 10 am Christmas eve morning with intention to spend Christmas with brother and his family (widower and bro is only close family).
Return home Christmas day evening. Check emails and see packages were delivered about an hour after i left and go to door and nothing to be found. Call Amazon and get original order resent but this time send it to an Amazon locker location and receive my order just before the new year. Week passes and doorbell rings and go open it. Guy standing there in street clothes, no Amazon jacket or branding shoved 2 packages in my hands and says something about trying to deliver multiple times over the last 2.5 weeks. Wonder what the hell this is as i got my order. Open packages and it's my original order. Best guess is the guy was doing the the procedure for delivery, taking the picture then grabbing the packages to see if they contained anything valuable and the fact he bothered to return the packages is either he got tagged that there'd been an unusual spike in " thefts " on his route and better return what packages he could or one of his buddies doing the same got busted and returned what he hadn't sold or disposed of on the hopes we'd call Amazon to say we'd received our orders but the driver had trouble trying to deliver.
Of course having done a stint as an Amazon driver and familiar with the procedures it wasn't going to help Moriarty.

The company can write off the stolen assets as a loss thus paying less taxes. They6 don’t lose money by the shoplifters. They would lose much more from an employee getting hurt, or a shoplifter getting injured by to much force involved ect. Better to lose a dollar item. That they bought for pennies, and write off the dollar in tax. Very clever system, and perfectly legal. They write the item off at its selling value, not the actual cost of the item. Like insurance companies offering 30% off. They Jack the rates up 50%, and then give you a quote then say we’ll knock 20-30% of the bill off because we’re so wonderful. Pretty good scam, and the kool-aid drinkers gulp it down. When the crooks realise that they can just rob the cashier, just taking the cash, or a cashier get shot That’s when corporate will change the rules. Won’t happen until they lose money.

I thought Amazon required that their delivery people had to have cameras inside their vehicles in order to prevent theft.

    • @SeanBZA
      @SeanBZA Год назад +6

Only those who are actually employed by them, which is around 1% of the delivery staff. The others are 99% third party, "contracted by Amazon", because all they get is an app on their phone, which logs the package and GPS of where driver was, and delivery address matches, so delivered. Done so Amazon does not have to actually have full time employees, and does not need to have those pesky legal requirements like paying tax, paying for retirement, paying for medical or anything, just that flat fixed fee. Driver is a "contract employee", despite having hours set by the supplier, route set by them and also needing to have a uniform sold by them.

    • @LonelyWolfe42
      @LonelyWolfe42 Год назад +1

@@SeanBZA problem with this, if the truck is painted with Amazon's logo on it, it's a company vehicle. That's like UPS or FedEx has drivers that's contracts drivers, they won't have the exact type of truck with their color scheme and logo on the truck. It would be like the ones in cats with just a magnet sign saying they are Amazon.
