1:15 sid vicious was styled by vivienne westwood during the bulk of his career, and jun takes great inspiration from them, he even had the cover band of them in japan
Rei is the leader no doubt. She even dated Yohji. They opened their individual stores in the village not far from each other around the same time. Hers on Wooster street and the Yamamoto store on Grand street where a different designer is currently located. This was way before everyone and their father opened a store in the area. Agnes B, Helmut Lang and Costume National were the only stores in the area. Once all the mall stores started opening she was the first to leave for the meatpacking district. She would then open Dover Street Market, one of the few manhattan fashion dept stores in the Murray Hill NY section. I like em all except BAPE. Jun is my hero. He has skills so Undercover is my shit. Undercover is the last fashion item i purchased which were waffle knit lounge pants.
Lots of us are happy to have this review of the great Japanese designers and the information as to why they matter. It’s part of the program to make it clear that the West has taken much from them without the acknowledgment.
Maybe weird, but in a way I'd say Bape is the most influential. Without the hypebeast era we wouldn't have a whole new generation of yutes (and some older), who gravitate towards high end / luxury. Without Bape, a lot of people who like the other brands on the list, wouldn't even know the other brands.
Vivienne westwood dressed Sid Vicious , so did actually meet him... Vivienne Westwood meets Stanley Kubrick,perhaps...*shove glasses to bridge of nose, pedantically*

Perhaps not "most influential", but Kapital and Sacai are up there for me personally.
they are no where near the people on this list and i love kapital
where's SACAI?
Bigger but doesn’t outpace any of these business wise.

Not that kind of fashion label. It’s basically a staple.
I feel like japanese fashion has better quality.
Most clothes nowadays, except maybe some nike and champion things, break pretty fast.
