I am only 7 minutes in and I'm sure this will be a great match, hard to tell so far though because the camera person seems to want us to watch Bustamante instead of the table. Not bashing this channel, but if you are a camera operator please take note, people want to watch the table and not the players or crowds.

Great match and couldn’t miss a second of it and how the advantage changed back and forth many times throughout. Definitely a classic that I will watch many times.
I can think of 2 reasons. I’ll say that I disagree with them both completely. 1, they didn’t like who won. 2, some folks don’t like announcers in general.
Bustamante will always be underrated, because of the giant shadow of Efren, but among knowledgeable billiards enthusiast, they are aware of his talent, salute to one of the great ones!🌟
I enjoy your productions very much but, your camera is asleep at the wheel. 5:45 - 6:00 no camera shots of the table, he stays focused on Bustamante So much so Chohan's next shot is not shown.????
If the 10-ball was on a rail, it was a foul. If the 10-ball was off the rail and went to the rail, it would not be a foul. It is hard to tell from that camera angle. Hopefully, the ref was in a position to give and accurate call. But maybe he wasn't.
I believe that they changed the tournament rules at some point. Originally balls made on the brake counted; now it's a re-rack. With the players racking their own balls, I think it makes sense to not count them. It takes away the possibility that the player had tilted or otherwise messed with his own rack in order to sink a ball on the break.
In the first game at 17:15 Tony kicks into the 11 ball. Looks like a foul but the 11 ball was never called as frozen...Busty fell asleep on that one, could have had the ref call it before Tony shot.
Any old timers out there that actually saw Wimpy play? I wanna know if he really was the best 9 ball player ever like I've heard so many times. No doubt he was the man. You can't win that many Johnson City events without being the best of the best, and he won more than anyone iirc, but I'd love to hear an unbiased eyewitness give an honest opinion. I do know this much. Every pro that saw him play talks about him the way we talk about Efren these days.
My mother's husband from Elisabeth city said he worked in the pool hall where he practiced. He would set up shots for him on the tables he would walk around and shoot them also played into mirror a lot.
Several pool books have accounts of Lassiter. He married pool, and stayed away from women. He has some oddball thing he called "the swoles" where his lips became enlarged, swelling up anytime he came into close contact with women. By every account he did nothing in his life other than pool, pool, pool. I think he stayed with Fats once, but as the story goes Fats beautiful wife had a habit of walking around the house in the nude... that put the end to Wimpy's visit. In the 70s I had railbird acquaintance with a couple of players who might have played Lassiter, UJ Puckett and Magnolia Red Richardson, but I never saw Lassiter in person. All I know came from reading books by Bentivegna and others. Remember in Lassiter's era there was no Internet, no pool instruction books, no pool leagues, all the really good players would not play except for money, and players seldom shared knowledge of their skills - how to play at a high level was learned by watching and practicing and playing. The guy who hit the most balls and payed attention best then needed stamina and sobriety and concentration - free from distractions - to win out in tournaments and matches. Lassiter had all that, as best I can tell from my reading. Heck, one of the best didn't even have good eyesight - the Knoxville Bear, best banker of all time.
I didnt care for Bustamantes junping out of the chair and talking while its still Chohans innings. Particularly at the end. But he did it earlier in the match too being loud while Chohans at the table. Couldnt see off camera obviously, but he was probably out of his seat in those moments too. Every player is aware of sharking and I do believe that was Bustamantes intentions. Why else would a player act chaotic or be loud and interrupting while the opponent is at the table knowing the level of focus required to execute shots.
Exactly. I commented the same thing and scrolled to see how many others mentioned it. I'm guessing you (and I) have played pressure matches ... whereas most people who overlooked that TERRIBLE sportsmanship only view this from the perspective of people who "just play for fun" and watch others deal with the pressure. I would've been STEAMING. But of course -- Kenny isn't going to reprimand him in front of the crowd ... the crowd kinda likes it ... and Tony (wisely) knows he just has to endure that and still try to play well. Were that an action game without cameras..? I think you'd see people spitting mad. With the wrong backers you'd've seen blows. And Francisco KNOWS better!
What is happening with the camera in this video... We dont need this weird hovering movement. Just keep the 2-4 camera angles and switch between them out of necessity. Getting motion sickness watching this video.
There was a guy from Memphis called Whole Lotsa Poppa, that dude had the greatest stroke in pool. He used to shoot that spot shot from behind the head line and his cue ball never touch a rail!!!!
@@5000rgb They time how long it takes to kick three rails towards the corner pocket. His stroke was so pure it would take the longest amount of time to get there.
He was a great player! I played him in the finals of a local 8-Ball tournament at the American Pie in Montgomery, AL back in the mid-late 90's. I had him beat, about to make a straight in shot on the 3 in the side with the 8 hanging, but the 5 ball fell through the corner pocket leather and landed on my foot in mid stroke, making me miss the shot. Worst "roll" ever!
39:12 Horrible Call from the ref. 1bal hit the 10 into the rail. Good hit all day long. 13 goes off the (9), hits the (1) and send the (10) to the rail at 39:07
The crowd might find Bustamante's reaction during Tony's last inning in which he almost scratched "amusing" ... but if I were Tony..? I'd be HOT. That's crap. Getting up and making a big todo when you're trying to stay focused..?? That's the last thing you need adding to the pressure of trying to make balls when you're opponent NEEDS ONE!!! On a hill-hill match. IMO..? Absolutely TERRIBLE sportsmanship.
A great match with one of my favorite players - Busty - but the video is unwatchable due to the roving overhead camera. The camera operator has made me seasick with all his fumbling around with that fancy robot-arm camera gear. What a shame. I skimmed through and the whole match has that roving camera, hardly ever stopping, always moving and zooming and never able to settle on what others have shown to be standard positions that fans love. I refuse to watch any more like this one, and can only express my disgust with a thumbs down. Next time you guys want to go all touchy-feely do it at a Tuesday night beginners league, not a great match between two champions.
I think there are and it seemed like there were some opportunities. I guess they didn't take the shots because they didn't like where the cue ball would land.
I think bustamante is pissed when he made a great shot in the final rack but the crowd is silent while chohan made a shot and the crowd applauds it. Oh well countrymen i guess? The crowd is definitely on tony's side here and also the commentators. Then after that bustamante proceeds to rub the win to chohan's face😂😂😂
The camera work on this match REALLY sucked. Finally gave up and moved on. Update- skip closer to the end and they finally stopped messing with it. Great match other than early camera BS.
This first rack was very slow but the last rack was fast. One pocket can have a vastly different pace from rack to rack. It's usually more suspense and drama than shootout but once you accept the pace it's an amazing game.

One pocket with a 30 second shot clock would be amazing.
5 seconds shot clock would be great and most players lose accuracy when you elevate the cue. SHANNON DAULTONs accuracy may increase

Bunk camera work
It has to be an illusion but if you pause it at 4:20 that rack looks crooked as hell
Might be, but more likely the camera angle. They DO distort the angles.
