Hi Niko! I’m a 50 year pilot and CFI/CFII Commercial Pilot and still own a 1963 Beech P-35 Bonanza..since 1990! I thoroughly enjoy your videos!!! I really appreciate all the time it must take to edit them. During Covid when I was not flying, I would watch one of your videos almost every day and it somewhat satisfied my flying bug! Thanks again.
Ice is never fun, but even less during the night IMO. About the only thing, the cirrus needs is onboard weather radar. ADS-B/XM is nice, but add that onboard and really gives a great picture.
Well executed challenging flight using capable equipment and pilot. Thanks for letting us come along with real world video. Flying my non-deice equipped Skylane in the north I can not continue into ice. Altitude change option if not effective then back to pre-ice area. The Ice Man does come and you did very well. Thanks
Awesome video! I really appreciate all the hard work it takes to produce and edit flying videos. You inspired me to make a few VFR videos with my Glasair IIS. Happy flying from X49. South Lakeland Florida.
Little tension here good job. Night, rain, ice, static in radios, no problem. Thank you for the time and effort that allows myself and others to view this!
This is one of your best videos. The editing was perfect; you included the very pertinent communications and decisions. I also enjoyed your close-in shots of the avionics. Is there a specific reason you did not completely top off the anti-ice fluid before taking the flight?
Good to see you flying. That weather must have been nerve wracking but you seemed to stay calm and handle it very well. Great shots of Chicago there towards the end!
Niko you have an incredible way of capturing the intensity of situations better than any of the pilots I'm subscribed to. However I couldn't help thinking about the SR22 Reno crash back in 2005. I imagine his conditions were very similar to yours. You have an amazing machine. I also love how you capture how you must rely on technology (Sirius weather and FLIR) but also can't rely only on it (when FLIR froze up). Niko you are the man I hope to one day meet you just so I can shake your hand. Thank you for another hit!!!!
One of your BEST videos showing capabilities of a light GA plane properly equipped and good and real time decision making. Thanks for sharing this great content!
Great video as always. That flexibility to climb with the Turbo engine is huge. Love the MaxViz camera. I’m adding one to the Baron. Looking forward to seeing its benefits. I didn’t think about it icing up. Makes sense though. Good to know.
As a fairly new instrument rated pilot I would never attempt to pick my way through weather like that, even in such a capable airplane. Your experience really shines through. Fantastic video!
I like the way you run through the decision making process whenever you encounter poor weather. You always seem to make the right choices. That's good piloting. It's also nice to see you have all that tech on your side. Btw, nice to see you in the air again!
Very interesting video as always. Your TKS seems to be working very good. I once did a test flight in a Mooney M20J with a old (20 years) TKS System. That system really didn’t work very well. Better than nothing but a far cry from your system.
Nice Job Niko,I was right there with you. I Flew for 10 years for fun have not flown for ten years, watching your videos on lockdown has inspired me to start again here in sunny Spain. Thanks for the inspiration Never take any of what you do for granted. Safe flying keep up the good work😎
What a huge difference a fully equipped and capable aircraft can make. Oh and a competent well trained pilot as well. I enjoy how to you focus a little on some of the cloud structures and night scenes as well. They are all part of the wonder of flying.
Oh Niko, These videos truly exemplify the freedom of flight & the adventure it brings. Fly safe, I hope to see you one day out there. You inspired me to one day soon purchase an SR-22. Non-turbo.
Glad to see that you are back on again Niko. A great flight. Great to ride along with you again. Your unflappable professionalism on the radio and as a pilot always amazes me.
HA! Was letting the video play while I ran through some work stuff. Heard a familiar intersection. You flew a little east of me. I tend to keep my eyes skyward, but we've had more cloudy days than clear in S.Ga lately. Sadly, I haven't flown since 2005, but still quietly hope that will change one day. Safe travels, Niko.
At 16:40 looked like things were getting a little tense....cold, rain, ice, static, no visibility and it's dark. But you stayed on top of it and remained calm and evetually broke out of it with airport in sight. I bet it felt great to have your feet on the ground. Seeing downtown Chicago at night was really cool.
You are much calmer than I would be handling all that ice. Of course my 1975 Bonanza doesn't have anti-icing capability so I just avoid ALL ice in the first place. Great job!
Another great video Niko, looked like a challenging day, bet you slept well that night! Loving some of the new editing style, appreciate all your effort as always.
Thanks so much for sharing with us this wonderful and dangerous flight at 15,000 ft through very dark clouds and it's really great you maneuver and landed safely at your intended destination . Regards. From The Flight Deck .
Nice flight Niko, thankyou. Enjoyed your decision making and discussing with controllers. Good work. Made what could have been a dangerous flight look routine.
I'm in Pickens county not far from the airport.I am heavily into communications so I have multiple scanners listing to the interesting things going on in this county and surrounding areas and one of them is dedicated to the aircraft band. When I heard your call come over the radio I was pleasantly surprised !!!! Im glad you were able to stop by and we hope to have you back real soon !! Be safe and keep up the great content Niko !!!
Glad you made it thru without incident. Appreciate your abilities and execution of your well tuned ability under stressful situations. Stay safe and healthy. A long time follower. Bless you.
Great editing/video. Took me right back to a night flight in a Mooney 231 from Atlanta to Starkville MS, weather closed in on us, icing and crazy turbulence. Never been happier to see runway lights.
Nice job Niko, that TKS fluid, up in the North East, we just fly with the tanks full from basically, October until June. Nothing worse than being in ice sweating while seeing those tank empty out. Suggest you fill 'em up if you are coming north in the winter. Take care.
That was one of the best aviation videos i have watched in a long time. That was Awesome! I'm a recent subscriber. Niko took us through weather, night and day. I just loved it!
what an great investment you´ve made, this aircraft is awesome to face these unforseen occasions. very tricky weather. congratulations , very dangerous to be caught like that.
A very, very, very helpful video. I pick up my first Cirrus and first FIKI aircraft in 45 days so seeing how you handle real world precipitation and icing situations is incredibly helpful.
New subscriber, loving the channel! Seems like you had some very competent controllers on this flight. Good to see the center controller for checking if you had any difficulties.
So, am I envious of you for being able to fly IFR into known icing, a little; for flying a new, hot GA Cirrus plane, a little; for flying at high altitudes with Oxygen to avoid buildups, a little; for having the experience to know how to handle all the weather, a little; but, most of all, for being able to be comfortable to take off in a t-shirt when we had snow on the ground in Ohio 2 days later... Now that's real envy!
Computer: "Caution! Obstacle!"
Niko: "yeah, yeah, yeah"
The fighter pilots name that computer voice "Bitchin' Betty" for that exact reason :-).
coolest guy on youtube, not cuz he has a cirrus, but because he took full advantage of building the american dream. thanks for the content Niko
I could not possibly agree more.
How much hours did you fly in 2020?
115.1
@@NikosWings What is your opinion on the new superhydrophobic coatings /surface treatments to prevent icing?
I’m a skeptic
Hey, Niko! Nice to catch you flying again. This is an interesting, though cold, flight. "My camera is frozen." Thanks for sharing!
Hi Niko! I’m a 50 year pilot and CFI/CFII Commercial Pilot and still own a 1963 Beech P-35 Bonanza..since 1990! I thoroughly enjoy your videos!!! Thanks Jeffery, hope you are back at flying
Ice is never fun, but even less during the night IMO. About the only thing, the cirrus needs is onboard weather radar. ADS-B/XM is nice, but add that onboard and really gives a great picture.
I agree. I’d prefer an onboard radar over the NEXRAD radar. Due to the refresh timing and delay. I fly the DA-20
What a video, what a fantastic flight, night IFR with Ice plus the awesome decision making process plus the night scenery. Simply amazing ! Thank you!
Well executed challenging flight using capable equipment and pilot. Thanks for letting us come along with real world video.
Flying my non-deice equipped Skylane in the north I can not continue into ice. Altitude change option if not effective then back to pre-ice area. The Ice Man does come and you did very well.

Ooooff.....That wx in the ice had me on the edge of my seat man!!

Really enjoy the realism you show during your flights.
Good to see you flying. That weather must have been nerve wracking but you seemed to stay calm and handle it very well. Great shots of Chicago there towards the end!
Always so cool to be able to "fly" with you.
Love the videos.
Hope you and your family are very well!
Wow, the information and resources the citrus Sr22t gives u makes flights like that possible, thanks Niko for the ride along!
Awesome job picking your way thru that mess....and welcome back!

Wow, great plane ✈️. Thanks for sharing...
Nice to see you again in good health. Thanks for the video. Kind regards.
very good decision making - keeping all possible options open. must have felt exciting when out of clouds and icing.
That was a hairy flight. Nicely handled 👍🏻
As a fairly new instrument rated pilot I would never attempt to pick my way through weather like that, even in such a capable airplane. Your experience really shines through. Fantastic video!
Eventually you will
Well done Niko! Had me on the edge of my seat at times. Great music just at the right times. As always great video. Stay healthy all of you.
Great video Niko. My G2 obviously isn't FIKI, Ive never dealt with icing at night. I like the decision making you made. Hope Bella's doing better.
Lots of decisions to make on the go. Thanks for sharing.
I like the way you run through the decision making process whenever you encounter poor weather. You always seem to make the right choices. That's good piloting. It's also nice to see you have all that tech on your side. Btw, nice to see you in the air again!
Yay content! If you’ve got more, keep it coming!

I used to have a Piper Comanche 250 parked at JZP. You brought back a lot of memories. Thank you for the video.

I enjoy how to you focus a little on some of the cloud structures and night scenes as well. They are all part of the wonder of flying.
Hey Niko I love your videos because they truly show every aspect of flying long haul flights and the adventures that they bring.
Love the moving map! NICE! Glad you got in ok.
Aloha ! Welcome back , hope all is well with you & your family. Stay safe & healthy 👏🤗🤙
19:10 that relief in the controllers voice.
Just one thing, the music near landing made me think there was some sort of alarm going off...
Oh Niko,
These videos truly exemplify the freedom of flight & the adventure it brings. Fly safe, I hope to see you one day out there. You inspired me to one day soon purchase an SR-22. Non-turbo.
Great video and flight (well maybe not so much for you) but definitely interesting to say the least.
Saludos !!!
Good to see you flying again, thanks for sharing,God Bless
Thanks for another awesome video, Niko. Hope the family is doing well. ✌

Nice work. Pretty unsettling to be in those conditions and have that radio static issue.

You have the Right Stuff, Niko!
Cool to see an approach for 16 from the other point of view! I found there’s a few Cirrus owners at PWK all really cool guys!
Greetings from Ohio ...Great video ... many thnx for the ride! Sorry for the ice and weather. Great job! Stay safe and well.
Great video! Kept your head through a seriously tiring flight that threw the kitchen sink at you!
Nice flight Niko, thankyou. Enjoyed your decision making and discussing with controllers. Good work. Made what could have been a dangerous flight look routine.
Hi Niko, Very much enjoy your You Tube channel. I have been flying for over 51 years as a CFII, Corporate and Airline Captain
Epic flight! One to remember, Niko!
Nice little crosswind landing (perfect centerline) on 16 with winds out of 22. Nice flight.
I'm in Pickens county not far from the airport.I am heavily into communications so I have multiple scanners listing to the interesting things going on in this county and surrounding areas and one of them is dedicated to the aircraft band. When I heard your call come over the radio I was pleasantly surprised !!!! If you come back through Pickens let me know please would love to meet you! Friend of mine flies a Cirrus as well.
Great editing/video. Took me right back to a night flight in a Mooney 231 from Atlanta to Starkville MS, weather closed in on us, icing and crazy turbulence. Never been happier to see runway lights.
Awesome to see how useful a general aviation airplane can be! Fantastic video!
Thanks to Niko, you are back to old-style, I learnt a lot from you how to sneak around thunderstorms. love you
I so very much enjoy riding along with you! Thank you for a wonderful video !
Niko aka The Iceman. Well done as always,no fear.
Great job dealing with some really complex weather. Glad to see you in the air again.
Great Job, from a very experienced pilot.
what an great investment you´ve made, this aircraft is awesome to face these unforseen occasions. very tricky weather. congratulations , very dangerous to be caught like that.
Gr8 flight and vid Niko! Bet you were tired after that one!
Handled it like the pro you are,...great job Niko!
A very, very, very helpful video. I pick up my first Cirrus and first FIKI aircraft in 45 days so seeing how you handle real world precipitation and icing situations is incredibly helpful.
Congrats!
New subscriber, loving the channel! Seems like you had some very competent controllers on this flight. Good to see the center controller for checking if you had any difficulties.
Welcome back Niko!
As always, great content!!
Great video. Loved all of the detailed analysis you did to work you way through the weather.
Great video , some of the best videos on RUclips - keep them coming and thanks for sharing them , inspirational 👍
My 777 isn’t as capable. Beautiful airplane, very professional pilot. Great job, and awesome editing.
Excellent content!! Good usage of all available resources!
Much needed video. Great flight! Thanks Niko!
So happy to see a video from you. Hope your family doing better.
You really get some great utility from that Cirrus. Good video.
Excellent video! I enjoy seeing how you handle the challenging weather situations. I wish my T-6A had that fancy weather equipment.
Great to see a "Niko actually flying" upload again! 👍👌😎
this was a great video production. your choice of music made a very positive difference.
Awesome flight. Great video. Thank you for sharing. I hope your daughter is better.
Looked like a long day. Thank you Niko.
Well done Niko! When the music intensified I knew you were in for a rough one 😬
Interesting flight, beautiful sight of Chicago skyscrapers
So, am I envious of you for being able to fly IFR into known icing, a little; for flying a new, hot GA Cirrus plane, a little; for flying at high altitudes with Oxygen to avoid buildups, a little; for having the experience to know how to handle all the weather, a little; but, most of all, for being able to be comfortable to take off in a t-shirt when we had snow on the ground in Ohio 2 days later... Great video. Nice flying. Good to see you again.
The Cessna ahead of you was the plane I train in at my flight school at KPWK
Niko,
That was definitely NOT fun, but between you and ATC it went well.
Ice is nice in a glass, but not on wings:)
Cheers,
Rik Spector
There seems to be two different Pickens County Airports. Yours in Jasper, Georgia where you landed, and the other in Liberty, South Carolina.
Great video and a challenging flight! I've flown into JZP many times. Cheap fuel!
