I grew up in the church and was a devout christian. At 16 years old, my brother died of heart disease i had spent my life begging for God to heal. He was 19. I spent the next 10 years running so far from God, cursing His name, spitting in his face.
This year, my sister was pregnant with twins. One wasnt receiving the nutrients needed to survive and was at high risk of joining my brother. For the first time in years, i got down and prayed. I begged God to protect my unborn nephews. They were both born 3 months early, just over 2 lbs in an emergency Csection. After months in the NICU and countless scares, Theyre both home happy and healthy.
My life has done a complete 180, and im now on a path to becoming a missionary. I dont deserve Gods love. I dont deserve his forgiveness.
This song and The Prodigal bring me to tears every time i listen. Our God is great and merciful, how wonderful it is to be able to sing his praise.

It may get hard at times, but trust God fully. Pain and suffering are only temporary. He is definitely working in us and for us.

We are all barabbas, the penalty of sin and death was meant for each one of us but because of what Jesus did for us at the cross and grave, we no longer have to face that penalty. Only if we believe in him as Savior. Don't lose out on the best gift ever given to us.

I am twelve one of my friends introduced me to josiah queen and now that is the music i listen to when im alone and i try to encourage my family to do so but they would rather listen to todays pop music and stuff. I recently found this song on Spotify by randomly listening to some Christian songs. Believe me, this song is something different. I've personally written some Christian songs and have listened to many Christian songs, but this is one of the most different Christian songs I've ever heard of.
The reason is,
The Bible says, who Barabbas was and we rarely speak about him. What we have forgotten is that we were that Barabbas, whom we were forgiven by Jesus. This song just took me to the perspective of Barabbas, watching how his price is paid by someone who never deserved it. What else could he or in other words, we could say, except thank God for his love and mercy?

So, according to Luke 23:17-19 & John 18:40, Barabbas was an insurrectionist, a murderer, and a Thief.
Luke 23:17-19
17 (for it was necessary for him to release one to them at the feast).
18 And they all cried out at once, saying, “Away with this Man, and release to us Barabbas”- 19 who had been thrown into prison for a certain rebellion made in the city, and for murder.
John 18:40
40 Then they all cried again, saying, “Not this Man, but Barabbas!” Now Barabbas was a robber.
So, Barabbas was released and his(in other words our) penalty was taken by Jesus.

(Matthew 27:15-21, Mark 15:7-11, Luke 23:17-19, John 18:40 are some verses to look up in a bible for more information)
My son passed away this morning. I am greatly comforted that my son sent this song to me after he recently came back to the Lord. It lets me know he truly understood the Love of Christ and the heavy price He was willing to pay for us. Even when we were still in our sins. ❤
As a 14yo who has been through a lot. From my biological father leaving me to my stepmother mistreating me, I find peace in this song. I’ve doubted God loved me in the past and have had many Christian friends feel the same. I’m finally in the place where my friends and I love God so much and trust him with anything, I’ll never be able to express how much I love God and how much he loves me. Thank you Lord for the opportunity’s and blessings I receive everyday and for amazing artists who can express themselves in your music and life. Thank you for the official one. It's a really wonderful song to listen to. We really are Barabbas in that we deserved the punishment Jesus suffered in our place. We are without an excuse seen as wicked and evil before we were born again. But since we have been made a new creation by the blood of the covenant we still can recognize that we were Barabbas. We don't deserve God's love but his grace is endless and his mercy knows no end. This song is so wonderful
