@JustinMcGee-be8fu I have read the book over a half year ago and I've read it in my native language. I do not get the jazz hands neither. I've either forgot it or it's something that has been lost in translation
@jaculaa01 jazz hands are a way to show excitement or exuberance. To do it, have both arms bent at the elbow 90 degrees, put your hands out and open all 10 fingers, then wiggle your fingers.
This is one the few times I've seen an adaptation where everything looks exactly how I pictured it while reading the book.
The Blip A isnt quite how I imagined it from the book.. But if that's it.. not bad.. :)
In some cases it looks a lot better than I pictured. Stoked to see the adventure at Adrian on the big screen.

Rocky speaking with a synthesizer and not just subtitles is genius.
I'd have preferred subtitles over doing the Groot approach and the dialogue being clunky so we know what Rocky said based on what Grace says. But this is absolutely the best of the options. I'm so happy happy happy
The cost of adaptation of stories to different formats, but I’m accepting of this change!
This is similar to how it is in the audiobook version. Ray Porter, the book narrator, is fantastic!
The audio book used a synth voice. I assumed that was just the laptop playing it
I think its the best way for this to go. The other options im imagining are rocking learning english (no), subtitling everything he says (hard to do well for a main character in a story where half the story only has two characters), or not subtitling him and doing what someone else in this comments section called the "groot approach" (even worse for the two character thing).
I'm hoping the way they're doing this will do good adapting the process of learning Rocky's language and the procedural steps of learning to commmunicate that are in the book

It has a beautiful ending, too. When I describe the book to people and say how excited I am to see the movie, they think it's going to have a sad ending. I don't want to spoil it , so I just say it's not an unhappy ending.

Had a horrific motorcycle accident in January and I was confined to bed for a very long time. I got gifted project hail mary, a while ago but never had time to read but because of the accident I gave it a shot as I had nothing else to do, thank God I did because that book is a masterpiece. Best sci fi I've read, so heartwarming too and I loved the depiction of alien life. There was no good or bad side, only villain was physics and time. Amaze.Amaze. Amaze.

The level of science and realism in this book is nothing short of remarkable. And the way it described how “alien” the alien life actually was…the level of imagination combined with science is just amazing. How the author wrote this book, I’ll never know.

Genuinely i recognize every shot from all the trailers from the book. I know that a movie being faithful doesn’t make it automatically good, but the book is so special to me and helped me out of a bad place. I can tell the writers, actors, directors, cinematographer, editors and every talented human working on this movie shares an equally close and profound connection to the book. This movie is in good hands and can’t come soon enough
It really helps that the directors, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, actually were in constant and consistent contact with the book’s author, Andy Weir, at virtually every stage of production!
I finished the book last night then started watching trailers, I was surprised at how everything I saw minus the (hacky sack ball…or did I miss that in the book??) was in the book and seemed well represented. 👍🏻

Started crying when Rocky said he wouldn't let Grace die. I'm so so hyped to see this.
I cried at least twice while reading the book and I'm _definitely_ gonna be bringing some Kleenex with me to the theater. Rocky is so awesome. Especially when... SPOILER ALERT!
Grace catches up with Rocky to save him and _his_ planet and poor Rocky is all alone waiting to die without being able to make it home to save his planet. Talk about the power of friendship. Grace sacrifices ever seeing home again just to save Rocky and his planet. Can you imagine what went through Rockys, um, head(?) when Grace showed up to save him? Jesus, I'm getting emotional just writing this. 😆😭 This is my new favorite book and Andy Weir said that he couldn't be happier with how the movie turned out so we know that it's going to be "amaze" too.

When the first two trailers came out, the comments were so positive i just had to read the book. and now i have, and now i am one of you. this trailer shows some differences between the book and the film, but honestly, theyre good differences. a book isnt a film.

It's the best first contact story I have read in my lifetime. It focuses on teamwork and nutting things out and one of the most beautiful relationships between two sentient beings. It is such an endearing story.

Came back from the cinema. My 12 year old daughter absolutely adores Rocky. She loved it.
Movies rarely make me cry.
This trailer has me tearing up because it LOOKS like they're going to do this book justice. AND, to top it all off, there is STILL so much plot that hasn't been shown! Book readers "know" certain scenes, sure, but to the uninitiated, all they're seeing are scenes. That's it. The "A-Plot" is really all that's being shown in this trailer (and the others). There are several other aspects not being shown.

I think I'm most excited to see how Rocky's character looks. He's an actual puppet and the guy who does his voice is also one of the puppeteers! He's not just a CGI creation.

Yea I dont think most people notice this. The first one was about Ryland and the main plot, 2nd one was more about rocky, now we have the 3rd one and its showcasing them together. They put alot of care into the trailers and how they revealed things and slowly showed people what this is about if they haven't read the book. I hope this movie makes so much money.
