Loved this. So many people miss the point of Gilmour’s genius, it’s not speed, it’s not washing it out with too much delay and fuzz, it’s not hitting the trem bar every single note - it’s soul. Bro, you got Gilmour’s soul in your playing.
Your right. He also uses Uni-Vibe, Phasers, Rotary, Colorsound type OD, Clean Amps, Reverb, etc. I’m sure he’d sound just as good with only a guitar and an amp. Those effects are an integral part of what inspires him to play what he does. The rhythm tracks with Floyd wouldn’t be Floyd without the effects.
Interestingly, with Gilmour’s pickups and guitar, it’s very versatile where a good guitarist could use it for a totally different style of music and it would still sound amazing and good enough to stay in his rig.
Never before have I had someone captivate me so quickly in a RUclips video. You sir have managed to channel David Gilmours spirit within your guitar and dude isn't even dead yet.
Hi Chris, I was really pleased to chat with you and watch you play at PMT music store recently. Epic video again, and I’m asking my wife to grab a copy of Guitarist mag today! Can’t wait for the album. Enjoy France fella.
You just proved that we (guitar players) don't need a ton of distortion to sound POWERFUL... Your style is the perfect combination of fire and grace...
Now that was awesome. Eyes closed and as good as any high profile guitarist ever played at any time IMO.. Thanks for the reality check on where the music comes from.. Heart, soul & fingers not a high priced guitar (maybe high priced amp 😉).. 👍🎸🐨
Mills custom guitars makes EXACT replica the “relic” they do is stenciled on according to the exact wear. The wiring is exact and even the repairs that have been done are reproduced exactly. Look them up
Thank you for sharing this Chris. Your solo made us “click” the subscribe button. Looking forward to future videos. Loved your playing, loved what you’ve done to the Squier. We own a Squier 70’s Vintage Modified(black w/maple fingerboard)and it is bone stock. We pick it up more than any other guitar at the studio. Be safe on the road and wishing ou much success.🙏🏻🎧🎸
Giving a thumbs up seems a pathetic reflection of my true appreciation for this video... Your playing inspires me at the same level as Gilmour and Clapton have throughout my life Chris!!..... no one in my thirty years of playing has achieved that mantel....
Lovely lovely playing Chris and WHAT a set of pups from the two Pauls aka the Welsh Wizards of Radioshop. Man alive I have so gotta get myself a set of those bad boys!
That bridge pick up and the set up makes the guitar, as for your playing I would not expect anything less from you. Put it in production and you could be made for life👍
Hey Chris, thanks for the inspiration. Great tones can be had with "normal" gear, good example. Congrats on the article. So, drag out the tape echos and amps on play live at Stonehenge, just a hint because Pompeii is already taken. Grtz!
I, too, have a Gilmour partscaster which was put together at a fraction of the cost of a custom shop guitar. Thanks, Chris, I only discovered you a year, or so ago, therefore, I'm constantly finding new to me posts from you. I've yet to find one I didn't enjoy. Play on!
The pickup explanation really demonstrates why you shouldn't use DC resistance as a proxy for output. Wire and magnet type/geometry also have a profound effect on output.
My MIK black strat "Torch Vintage Series" cost $60 (including gig bag), and with $190 worth of upgrades in many ways I prefer it to my Fender Deluxe Players.
Simply stunning Chris. Your PUPs must be particularly versatile because there’s always a vintage texture to all the cheap guitars you mod. I haven’t had such success with mods on cheap guitars and the expensive ones sound great already otherwise I wouldn’t buy them right. I would guess this set of PUPs is getting more popular in sales as your popularity grows. Anyway the confidence & passion you put into playing in this video is just amazing. I wish your talent and down to earth demeanor massive success so we can all enjoy more Mr Buck. Rock on 🤘
Those pickups are good and to be honest with those pickups you can also play non Pink Floyd style music too and it would sound amazing due to the articulate clarity
Awesome playing! Gilmour said the parts on the black Strat had been swapped multiple times over the years anyway so maybe it ended up with a Squire body and neck anyway ;)
The more you experiment, the closer you're going to get to your tone. Gilmour did put in a Kahler trem on his black strat but subsequently removed it. Once an instrument feels right, then the rest should just flow. I'm not quite there myself but it's getting close :)
Nice 'partscaster', and a fantastic solo on that track. Not quite 'playing authentic' (man, what an own goal eh? Poor Mark), sorry hard to resist that particular meme. I'm loving the new Vintera line form Fender, I suspect one of the Strats will be heading my way before too long! Congratulations on the Guitarist feature, I have the mag right here, but had to watch this first. Only two weeks to the Cluny gig! Yeehaaahh!
Hi Chris, your such a fantastic player mate ,such feel in your playing just like gilmour, that's why he is one of the best guitarists that ever stood foot on this planet ,its hes feeling from within ,you have that also in your playing, would love to come and see you play ,are u playing essex,or London area?
I guess Chris has missed this one - he's usually very good at answering, but I thought I'd jump in and say his band, Buck & Evans, are appearing at the Facebar in Reading on Thursday 9th January, if that helps.
funny, I'm building a "black strat" out of a blemished flame sunburst strat body painted over in black, early 80s fender maple neck with the V profile, relic'd American parts (found dirt cheap) and the most expensive was the pickguard and correct pickups. total investment is about $320 USD
My black strat is midnight wine MIM...recently had the Gilmour mod and put in medium output Kent Armstrongs and Mallory cap pots and man o man she is a beast...
If you want the Dave Gilmour sound, you really need to buy the EMG DG signature loaded pickguard. You wont really get his sound without it. His EMG setup is the exact same as he has used onstage for many years. It is only 325 bucks and will fit a Squire.
Still happy with my 4 mill purchase to be honest....
Give me 4 million so that I can be happy also
I bought if for $4 million.I guess yours is a fake.
johnnyd63 I bought it for 8 million bro
😂
I bought a Chinese copy for 200 and sound exactly like the album.... I saved 3 million 998k for other things like food and clothing and such.....
Unassuming looking lad melts your face off with inexpensive guitar. Love it!
Well said. 😊
The Player makes the tone (to 90%). Gonna work on that fingernail raking :-)
Jason. What a great way of putting it. I couldn't have said it better myself.

no he doesnt, at what point during that intro was gilmours style, when was the last time you heard gilmour hitting around 50 notes in 5 seconds,
@@TheMikeygas he has his own soul :)
Your right. He also uses Uni-Vibe, Phasers, Rotary, Colorsound type OD, Clean Amps, Reverb, etc.

That guitar definitely had a cigarette after that playing.
More like the player but mad props on comment!!
Or did it have a cigar?
@@mehoymiboy2122 Peak comedy right here
@@mehoymiboy2122 I was all ready to give Ryan the trophy for Comment of the Day and then I saw this. Congratulations sir! You win! 🏆
Gave birth 9 months later.
Just came across this and wanted to say what a great sound and loved the playing. Anyone who plays a strat like that has my respect. Nice one
Never before have I had someone captivate me so quickly in a RUclips video. You sir have managed to channel David Gilmours spirit within your guitar and dude isn't even dead yet.
This performance would give David Gilmour chills!
Hi Chris, I was really pleased to chat with you and watch you play at PMT music store recently. Epic video again, and I’m asking my wife to grab a copy of Guitarist mag today! Can’t wait for the album. Enjoy France fella.
Congrats on the feature! Your playing is next level, brother.
Incredible playing Chris, keep pushing the boundaries
Really nice playing there, the tempo, phrasing and feel definitely evokes DG.
If I closed my eyes, I could tell that wasn’t Dave Gilmour - but I could tell it’s you. You’ve got your own tone, man.
You just proved that we (guitar players) don't need a ton of distortion to sound POWERFUL...
Your style is the perfect combination of fire and grace...
You always play like you mean it. I love the bit at the end!
I wouldn't worry about the cheeky fender decal on a non fender neck
That's what the black strat has
A charvel neck with a cheeky decal change 😉
It had a charvel neck (22 fret) at one point but it has a legit fender neck currently
Pretty sure it’s a mid 80s reissue neck, like on his Red Strat.
Play Authentic...🤔
ran doshus *gibson wants to know your location*
@@yrdbyrd_bjj Correct, came off his cream Strat.
another proof that what matters are the fingers. Sounds amazing, Chris!
Now that was awesome. Eyes closed and as good as any high profile guitarist ever played at any time IMO..
Thanks for the reality check on where the music comes from.. Heart, soul & fingers not a high priced guitar (maybe high priced amp 😉).. 👍🎸🐨
It's apparently Guitar Rig... I can't believe he makes it sound that good.
Will Mac Watched it again to confirm my first comment. ...👍🎸🐨
Yeah I agree with you. If you just listened to the playing it’s some of the best ever
That solo needs a Friday Fretworks all to itself, sublime!
Tab? 😂

Your right hand technique makes me want to practice 10x harder. 🔥🔥🔥
Best ad for a squire I've ever seen!
Shocking how well matched the bridge pup is..Can't figure it.
You could probably do this for a living..lol.
Congratulations Chris! Your star is definitely on the rise. Great video and superb playing as always.
The best left hand sinks Jimmy Connors and John Mc Enroe I have ever seen 🤣! Awesome....kindest regards from France
Being honest, havnt bought Guitarist mag for years... Gonna jump back in this month tho! That playing at the end was effin awesome!
To my ears, you're the best guitar player in the RUclips world and beyond. You have an amazing sense of style, drama and articulation.
Best solo I’ve heard in a while. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
That tone is so good man! Please keep that tone!
Ive just started listening to buck and evans and this is my favourite solo on the album.

Fab playing, as always and that black Strat would make a great giveaway to one very lucky subscriber.... *Hint* : )
Extraordinary playing mate; can't wait for the album to come out..
That solo stood the hair up on my arm. Good going!
that intro!! reminds of what dweezil zappa said about the spider and the chicken.. great video as always!
Fuck me for £500 ish that’s immense. Both in sound and looks. As always ridiculously tasty playing. 🤩
Ending track solo=EPIC...
Nice black strat! Beautiful solo! Great job Chris. Cheers! 🎸

Wowwwww what an intro ! This guy play is full of emotions.. better than a lot of well established pro guitarists.
That note at 6:51 was the most painful one I have ever hear on a guitar. As if it was begging for forgiveness:) Great vid as always
!
What string height do you use in your 9.5 & 7.25 strats?
The Ludwig Van of our times - How does he not have 288k subs at least.
Will Mac yeah man should have at lest 289 I think personally
Sounds great in Mr Bucks hands... congrats on ur article ...😉
