The Sakana is awesome, but it's very unique. It's like a surfy carving ski. I will say that I think it would be a weird touring ski. Not impossible, but I can't imagine there are too many skiers touring on a Sakana. Rangers and Bents are definitely more well-rounded skis. I'd say if this is going to be your only pair of skis, you should at least consider the uniqueness of the Sakana and whether it's going to always satisfy your demands. I've always thought about it as a nice ski to add to an existing quiver, rather than a one-ski-quiver, but again, it could work.

hey i'm interested in these skis. just curious you briefly brought their limitations on your 100mm freeride video you just posted. would like to know a bit more of what you were referring to when you said their limitations were moguls n trees. i personally dont do much moguls BUT i live in Canada on the west coast and fresh snow in the tight trees is kinda a must some days

The shovels are insanely wide and the tails are short and stiff. This makes moguls a bit of a challenge as it reduces quickness getting into the turn, and while the short tail is fine, the stiff nature of the flex makes it a bit of an issue, especially the swallow tail. In the trees, I just think there are better choices, mainly because the trees we ski here in VT are usually on the packed side. In fresh woods, I wouldn't have a problem with the Sakana.

If I’m in love with the pescados and I want a mid width free ride ski should I just go with the Sakana? I was also looking at origin 106 and koala 103

Love the Sakana! Koala is kind of a brick, but if durability is your thing, that's a good choice! Origin is a nice round performer, but totally different from Sakana/Pescado.

If I was 5'11 200 and wanted these skis to rip on. What size would you recommend?

I'd go with the 174--skis great a bit shorter than normal.

lovely skis. For a 1,70 cm tall guy and 65kg, would you go for the 1,74 or 1,66?
Normal use for moguls and trees having fun.
    Thanks so much
