Jess. Colors that you love and feel good about out is the way you should go. You’re so vibrant that your home is going to reflect that in your choices. And if you go with all the colors the worse thing that is going to happen is you’ll paint over the one that doesn’t feel right like the current island color. It’s paint and relatively easy to change. I bet your younger boys would enjoy tackling it with you and if they do please film at least some of it. Your boys bring joy to my heart.

With the colors you’ve been painting your walls, I would paint the island and the range hood blue. Then you can add the green in with artwork, curtains, plants and accessories. That way you get all the colors but the cabinets will be cohesive to the eye. Thank you for the chatting video as I stand in my kitchen prepping some food for this week! ❤

I believe you should paint your hood a color that will excite you to be at your cooktop and one that warms your heart when you approach it in the morning as you begin your day! Keep in mind that paint colors can change on a whim if you so desire. So, don't let indecision be the thing that keeps you from moving forward. I've been with y'all for a long time now and I know that regardless of what color you choose, it will be one that reflects your "crisp," upbeat, positive and reflective process and personality, which are just some of the many attributes which define you and contribute to your success. So paint that hood girl! ❤

This may sound out-there but have you thought about covering your range hood with copper panels cut to fit? It will patina beautifully with the potential green island color you like so much (maybe a bit darker or more saturated than the green the copper will come to be?) and give you a great excuse(as if you really need one) to paint that island the color you really want to. Even before it patinas it’s such a warm homey feel. I know your sweet hubs has a lot on his plate so maybe leave it until the last kitchen project. You could get copper plated drawer pulls for the cabinetry, if you haven’t gotten hand pulls yet, to pull in the hood color and they’d look pretty on the green color of the island too. Or you can just treat the copper not to tarnish, it looks so pretty on both green and on white. It’ll also go with my favorite pear that painting I covet on your wall every video!💗

If you live green, I would put tractor paint on the vent, because you cook a lot, and make a lot of broth, and the humidity involved in cooking and canning.
And, as a mom, like me, you have a lot of stuff. As an artist, you know that lighter colors reflect light, and make spaces appear bigger. Maybe light to medium shades, when you're considering colors?

Oh, Jess. I thought when we moved into our brand new house that I was going to decorate in sophisticated neutrals. That only lasted the year that the builders asked us not to paint to make plaster repairs easier. My great room is a slightly lighter shade of that brick/pink color on your vent hood. My backsplash is white one inch square tiles with all the colors sprinkled in. I call my decorating style "farmhouse clown barf". I couldn't be happier. Go with what brings you joy, it's only paint.

When I saw the thumbnail, before watching any of the video, I said to myself, "Aw, she's painting the hood. I liked how it looked before but of those two colors she's swatched on it, I prefer the blue. However, I wish she was painting it the green she used for the cabinets in Arkansas." I loved that green so much and have missed seeing it in your kitchen. It's just so "you" in my mind. (I live in an apartment and can't paint anything, though I long for color, too. So I love when the channels I watch happen to decorate in ways I personally like, as it sort of allows me to "visit" my dream. Not that I expect anyone to cater to my taste, of course. It's just extra nice when their tastes just happen to be similar to my own.

Late to the comments here, but here’s what I use for color decisions. Use a paint color fan. Locate the color of green that you chose for your walls. Choose any complimentary colors from the same position on that paint color blade. So, for instance, if your wall green is the third from top on its fan blade, choose your yellow, blue, red, etc. that is third down on that color’s fan blade. It creates a soothing tonal pallet across several colors. That being said, I agree with the comment about using a muted copper color for your vent hood.

Green is my favorite color too. I'd paint the vent hood a deep copper metallic color, they even have paint you can add a fake copper patina with on top too if you wanted the blue/green patina effect on top of the copper. But, I think the metallic color being more 'neutral but colorful' as a metal tone vs a specific color will be really awesome. Love the idea of the cabinets and island getting some color on them. 💚

Here’s my 2 cents! If you love green go with green! If you want variety how about using shades of green using your pear painting as inspiration. This would give you variety but still have cohesiveness instead of a hodgepodge of colors. Also you could use yellow with a green undertone in your other rooms.

❤❤❤ do the color that moves you. If it don't work, just paint over it. I painted my room a moody green... like the whole space ceiling, trim walls. And it was so beautiful..it was also very dark and we loved it less at night. So I repainted the original colors but did the ceilings in the same shade. I love it so much. Now I need to touch up my downstairs living spaces again and I want to go pink with pastel blues and greens 😂❤😅

Green is my favorite color, so I think the green would look beautiful on you stove top! Love your channel❤️

My vote would be to paint your island first as that will be a large impact. Then re-evaluate whatever is left to be painted. Love the green idea too

I think the green on the island would be absolutely lovely! I'm not sure about a blue range hood - I guess I'm partial to the brick red or the greyish brown on that. But really - that wonderful color in your kitchen also makes it a happier place to be!

I’d vote for green. How fitting in a gardening farming homestead and cooking with herbs and healthy leaves of green !

Terri cota and green like your pear picture would be beautiful, but choice what make you happy. That yellow flower color is beautiful too.🥰

I think green and blue would be beautiful together! I would take a picture of your pear painting and use the color picker app on your phone to pull more colors for a palette. I think I see some grays in it, you could pull a blue with some grey to it to help tie the blue in. Also if you have an iPhone I know you can pick colors from the photo, make a palette, then “paint” a photo of your kitchen with them. Fun, fast, and cheap 😂!

I like the navy blue, although I don’t have to live with it. Happy one year on the Farmer’s Table!

Paint the safe neutral / matching tones then paint a hidden garden down low on the stove side of the island and little ladybugs and bees at the outlets and switches as little surprises through the house even like a little mouse inside a cabinet door?🤔❤️

Reds and greens are complimentary. So I’d do that off red on the hood to compliment the green island. (Green is my favorite color, too.)

I like the idea of green on the island and the navy blue on the hood. I did a green main color on my cabin and a dark blue trim. As I was picking out the colors I could hear my mother telling me that blue and green don't go together but I love it. Be colorful like you are.

That island being painted green would be beautiful and then paint your range hood the same green. That would tie it all together. Would be beautiful.
I am preparing to repaint my entire house white and then I am going to put color in with rugs, throw pillows on the sofas and I have traveled out west many years and have such wonderful pics of the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon and Zion Natl . Park. Going to puts those pics on the walls along w/family shots also. I love neutral walls so I can change out colors when I want without too much expense.

I agree with Pam, definatley ‘plant green’ including the gloss-iness that your plant has, and OMG!, I got so scared by your title of this video! I’m like yelling out loud, “OH NO DONT DO IT YOUR BEAUTIFUL THE WAY YOU ARE!!!” lol. So glad your self image isn’t broken! Love ya Jessica!
