Two points; #1-only need to use inline circle hooks for stripers when using natural bait. #2. Even though bunker are around, the bass really will not turn on to bunker until A-the water warms up to the mid 50’s and B-bluefish start showing up as they will attack the bunker and the bass will feed on the scraps that fall to the bottom
@@FromtheSurfNJ thats not to say you won’t catch a bass on a bunker chunk this time of year but sea worms and clams will out produce a chunk.....at least that has been my experience the past 20 springs.
Another question I read about that "natural bait". I assuming this doesn't count lure(not meat) type of fishing. I use J hooks with tubes and crank bait lure. Some use top popper as well. I fish mostly on a kayak and troll when fishing for striper.
@@MrGreen-sw1ly You can use J hooks on all artificial baits (jigs, metal, plugs etc.) but if you add a sea worm to a tube it MUST have an inline circle-same if you add a strip bait to a bucktail (unless it’s a plastic strip bait)...even if you use pork rind it has to be an inline circle hook.
It was a great way to introduce my son, too. Easy money on those blood worms....plus they don’t need to be big to impress the kids. Dad looks like the man either way 😉
Brooo I was the dude next to you. I pulled out 5 or 6 that day. My eyes are bad and I thought you were talking to yourself. After the 4th or 5th time I heard “ I was out there with my boy Enzo and Dan, famous Dan!” I was like yup my dude is crazy lmfao. Good shit man you shoulda seen it at night. You couldn’t get a plug back to shore without hooking a bunker it was wild. Nice little spot
Lol....listen man....I was a little rusty and it took a couple of toes 😂😂😂 I heard it went off that night. Trying to get back there again for the dusk bite this week! Good luck out there 🤙
@@FromtheSurfNJ My boy sent me this and I was like bro I’m in the damn video. Get back there dude I didn’t see you plugging and the plug bite is actually insane there rn. I had 4 last night on a freshwater rod the biggest being 30 it was a blast. saw a 33 come up. My boy pulled 12 fish this morning with a few keepers and someone next to him had a 35er who had never fished. I’m throwing a 1oz mag darter cuz I got a poison adrena rod that I insist on using but if you get out there with the wadders and bomb out a 2-3oz darter you’ll be in the money
Awesome to see that bite is starting to heat up! I’ll definitely be chunkin some bloods soon In the raritan on the night shift. Awesome bass right there!
Which beach were u fishing here? I’ve been thinking of either going down to cliff wood beach, cheesequake creek, or south amboy reach and fishing 2 hrs before till 2 hours after High tide.
The night bite has been on fire. I rarely do the night bite, I’m a sun rise guy.....but I will say they are having better luck at dusk. If it’s a mid day high tide that works too. Mid day low tide you might as well take a nap.
I believe he was at South Amboy too, judging from those houses and the inactive light house?. It got to be North of Old Bridge. Lots of small/short though. I think they're local striper that didn't migrate out. But some outside, larger, are migrating inward.
holla atcha boy if your interested in doing some fishing. Looking for a slip asap and get boat in the water. small 21 ft center console but good fishing boat. dont have too many friends that don't get sea sick. fishing partner would be nice
For everyone that fishes on this spot, I kindly ask to take care of the environment and respect the regulations. Even if there are 2 garbage cans on the beach, anglers keep leaving their stuff behind. (Beer cans, plastic wrappers, broken equipment, tangled line...) And many people don’t know or don’t care about “keeper” size. STRIPER HAS TO BE >28 INCHES!
Yeah, the worm prices are high. On the flip side, as someone who mainly fishes bait, I say the same thing about the artificials anytime I think about getting into them lol.

You are 100% correct. Live bait only. Good info on the bunker!

"Fishing ain't complicated, people . . . it's all about the worm . . . and the stank." Great quote. Just subbed, great video.
Thanks for checking it out! Tight lines 🤙
Real worms are very pricey so i but artificial and put the stank on, it works just as good and lasts much longer on the hook. Peace.
One reason i use conventional reel Penn Surf Master setup for circle hooks, cast, set the drag and wait, yep i love old school fishing, Peace.
Sweet! Love taking my kids fishing for schoolies, so much fun.

One of my fav spots when I lived in North Jersey.
Great Vid... now my son is itching to get out there.... Time to uncover the boat...
Went out last night off Staten Island..
Bunker popping around.
Stripers were elsewhere.

week one being 4/1? Will be back for my new grand child in April....

Can give you the exact beach for spot burning reasons, but you’re on the right track.
Ayyy finally the moment I’ve been waiting for! Good to see you post looking forward to more.
Thanks for checking out! Been a long winter
Loving your channel bro, just a question, why do you have to use in line circle hook ?
Requirements by law. I was stopped by a game warden already to make sure I was using them. Prevents gut hooking.
What time do you think is ideal to go fishing in this area?

whats the best time to fish for them high or low tide?
High tide, especially is high tide aligns with dusk or dawn!
What is that stuff you are putting on the bait the clam stuff what is it call and where can I order online.
Fin-essence. Pro tip....don’t let it leak in the car. My car smelled like clam juice for a week 😂
@@FromtheSurfNJ Wow is it that strong.. I need to try that stuff. Thanx
Would anyone know who has a bushel of clam for sale!!? please advise and thanks in advance !!!
Great as always, who was the winner of the 1000 subs giveaway?

You're right fishing is not complicated you just have to pay Master first, help abolish the fishing licenses/ permission slips from Master
