Her voice is so rock star cool
enjoy that throat cancer
Oliver White 😂
Oliver White Does she smoke? I know most Millennials just have these voices naturally, 'cause not a lot of us smoke.
lisa ROXXI sandoval ...
TheChickenRiceBowl Maybe but there are people who naturally have this voice.
I loved her in the movie! She had some of the funniest lines.
I didn’t even recognize her up until I saw this video
You're going in THAAAAYUT!!! haha she was the best comic relief in awhile
😁😁
She is good ..... Even in Ocean's eight.
(Peik Lin to Rachel Chu)
“Which is why tonight, you need to not look like Sebastian from the Little Mermaid. You know the little crab guy?”
Eugh.. Jimmy could you stop interrupting her, I wanted to hear more about what she did in Singapore but you went off on like 3 minutes asking about the stupid Turkey.
Hi Barbie!! 👋👋
don't capitalize the animal turkey
Barbs!!
Oooo you here!
It's called a peacock
Awkwafina just won a Golden Globe 🙌
I am African and seeing Asians in the mainstream media. YAASSSS!! I am beyond happy, like diversity is fresh of breath air.
Mademoiselle De La foret same sis!!!!
we black people need to stop being nice to asian people asian people don't care about you why should you care about them
The Cyberninja ruclips.net/video/OLpeX4RRo28/видео.html
The Cyberninja shut up you do t speak for us black people it's only you. I support anyone I want and you have to be nice to people who deserve it not just a specific kind of people
Mademoiselle De La foret you know im african too but lets be honest asian people dont care about black people its sad how we as black people support other races but noone supports us its the harsh truth
I like this actress! Great personality.
I wish more white girls can be like that
Drew S. - That's what white guys like.
Ye
@Paul 87 shut up!
@Drew S. 🙄
I like her personality
Awkwafina is a star ❤
I like ur body
Ive seen you, like everywhere.
Eden Kim someone comments this on all his post too
@Adrian everywhere I go, i can see him commenting on different youtube vids, and u can't help noticing him bc of his body...
Asian Americans come out of the screenings and they're crying and they don't know exactly why.
I think it's the POWER of Representation ❤
Duh, one big duh! You are such a drama queen.
Aishwarya Net ?
I think it's because careers that like are frowned upon by most Asian parents so don't just assume stuff...
Czo Lish Well to be honest most of the people who are praising this movie are Chinese and the cast is Chinese/Singaporean. Korean Americans probably could care less about this movie, and most Asians don't need a stupid movie to make them feel like they belong because chances are they probably accepted the fact that that is apart of who they are and moved on to do things that inspire them like every other human being should. This movie is a pretty dumb step forward imo.
anders damin found the racist
I was expecting her to be Awkward-fina, but her confidence is smooth as butter! Seems chill af :)
Zeeshan Muhammad loved the way she fill her jeans met in the Philippines.
You called it! She’s def awkward
Zeeshan Muhammad DOOM
Steelo Blaze what?
Watch her Tigerbelly interview!
she has a great personality
She'd be a good oitnb cast member.
Ariana Navarro YES
Hell yeah lol
This is exactly what i was going to comment!
yes omg
She’s better than that.
I am African American and I cried for the same reason when I saw it. I love to see everyone represented on screen. And it was a great movie!
As an Asian I felt exacted the same thing on Black panther.
She's hilarious. Must look in to stand-up as a 3rd career option.
Priya K She already kinda does! Check out Girl Code on mtv
Priya K all asians are funny but also rich so they do boring high paid important needed jobs
HOLYSERPENT why are you generalizing like that
That raspy smoker's voice though
murrrmur theirs a few reasons but let's say cus Asian women are hot🤔🇺🇸 plus I'm a dumb American man
Asians have been so erased and ignored from mainstream media and pop culture.
This is a small important step 🙂
King Beef Lol stop, those are heavily influenced by western culture
Asians only make 5% of the population in the US, that might have something to do with it too
King Beef you just named all non-american cultural entities. Congrats you proved their point.
@Lo C Keep living in a fantasy world. Italians are just "white" and white people make up the majority of the population in the US. Let's take a look at other races the largest Asian demographic, the Chinese market: Disney has to constantly make Finn as small as humanly possible on Star Wars posters because of pervasive racism against black people in Asia. Fix your own continent first and then you can complain about America. You're just getting in victim mode like a lot of other people in the US right now.
Lo C ok I got what you're saying. I just think it's overblown. But I live in an Asian majority area of the US so I probably just don't see it. But anyway thanks for your perspective, have a good day
the fact that her hip hop name is “Awkwafina” and now voicing an awkward self deprecating Water Dragon who have skills that kills. 🤣🤣🤣 its just fits perfectly
Just watched crazy rich Asians and she played the funniest character in this movie!! I couldn’t stop laughing every time 😂😂
Viet Tommy
You have a cocktail dress in your boots ?
IM NOT AN ANIMAL !
😂😂
kaz Ortega she’s the bauwk bauwk bch
The whole theater blew up with laughter when he asked her to come in for dinner... and she said... (you know what it is! lol)
Dassani or Awkwafina ❤
Doesn't matter. I drink them both.lol
I prefer Fijee
Aishwarya Net dassani fits her.
Or Evianne
How about Eveeyan
Anyone here after Raya and the last dragon?? I didn't check the cast when i started watching the movie. But soon as heard her voice, i recognized it instantly. It's so unique.
mee
The fact that this girl is Asian, naturally hilarious and charming and can absolutely see her as a stand up comedian (she is actually funny without trying too hard) is just amazing. So great to see Asians are now paving a way into the Hollywood movie scenes!
Not a great interview by Jimmy. He was too stifling and did not given Awkwafina the space to manoeuvre.
That's what I'm thinking
She has come a long way since Bad Rap. I remember seeing her live in my neighborhood a few years ago, now she's making big budget movies. Congrats to her.
I just watched Awkwafina in "The Farewell." What a wonderful movie and she did a fantastic job in it. She is such an amazing talent and if you haven't seen this movie yet, I highly recommend it!
i’ve been a fan of her music and comedy for like 5 years now so seeing her finally get recognition and acting jobs makes me smile so big
Her voice is everythinggggg. Love
She is too awesome, I have total admiration for her everything: personality, courage, principle, art & craft, intellect, talent, heart. Never stop being you.
Um tempinho longe deste canal maravilhoso já com saudade ✨💗✨
A long time away from this wonderful channel already with longing 🇧🇷
We still need more Asian representation in Hollywood! Excited to see the film.
We have The Meg, Crazy Rich Asians, and Mile 22 all coming out this week and all feauturing one or more Asian leads, plus the live action Mulan is coming up and that´s bound to be a hit, the tide is turning and more representation is coming.
Make sure to support the movie then! Watch it once, twice, even three times! The Hollywood analysts have been saying that they don't think this movie will make that much money... we must prove them wrong if we want Hollywood to make more Asian-centric movies.
You know Japan, Korea, China ect. all make movies right?
we're asking for mainstream films that are marketed globally rather than locally ... films with asians that arent just for asians because god knows as a korean-american the only films i saw growing up were films with actors and actresses that did not look like me. we just want representation is that too much to ask for?
No
It's about time Asians are recognized and seen on the big screen in Hollywood because they all are great actors too. Looking forward to the showing of this movie here in Thailand.
I guess Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is a figment of my imagination then? Bruce Lee too? Jackie Chan?
St4rTr3v1Ut10n those movies only features the chinese martial arts stuff. Hollywood has never really portrayed Asians as people who can be taken seriously. So this is one of the many movies to come (I'm pretty sure Asians are better represented in tv shows than movies).
So there are no Asians on the big screen in THAILAND? how does that work?
What what?? penelope pittstop
And can I presume you have never been outside of where you are from, coz this movie represent Asian Americans who speaks English, Thai movies speaks Thai and I am not Thai and to inform you Asians speak different languages because it is compose of different countries not just one. And this movie represents most Asian cultures which are almost similar. Go watch it and enjoy.
Love her name makes you really giggle every time!!
We need more Asians in the mainstream!
*Asian Americans
We have The Meg, Crazy Rich Asians, and Mile 22 all coming out this week and all feauturing one or more Asian leads, plus the live action Mulan is coming up and that´s bound to be a hit, the tide is turning and more representation is coming. How about we celebrate the projects we´re currently getting instead of pleading for more.
its my time then....
yes! not only CHINESE. Asians!
We dont need Asians in mainstream america. We need more Asian Americans. There is a difference
"That's not ACTING...that's YOU!"... Gotta love Grandma! And you don't argue or debate with Grandma...precious!
I’m Singaporean and when I went to watch this in the cinema, I had no idea what it was about. I just went to see it cus my friends invited me. And when I saw that it was based in Singapore, I did a double take cus I have never seen a movie based here. I came out of the theatre so happy just because I saw representation and made me believe that my dream of becoming an actress can actually come true 😊😊😊
ik this is like 7months late but like i feel the same way hehe, i’m sure she said Kuala Lumpur, a place in Malaysia! i’m Malaysian and i’m so happy it was being filmed there.
but the movie was quite disappointing don't you think? I can't see any representation of Singapore in this movie. I was expecting Singaporean accents but the actors didn't even try (except for some random aunties). the storyline was so predictable and with so much stereotype. It's not even a good popcorn-movie.
I mean she is asian, he ofc had to check if the family was okay with her life choices.. #askanasian
It’s because she’s young not because she’s asian. It’s a go to question every talk show host asks a young first time guest.
Danielle L show us at least one interview of a young non Asian being ask that question....hehe good luck
Danielle L no reply? That's what I thought. Troll exposed!
Raghu Seetharaman when Conan interviewed Adam DeVine he asked him the same questions. I'm all against stereotyping, but it really is a go to question. Maybe he took it too far by saying "so they didn't kick you out of the house?" Like he assumes they won't approve, usually they ask white actors if it's just weird for their famies. So I think it's a bit of a reach and not intentional with maybe a shadow of truth.
Victoria Giro sHOw us ThE liNk theN. Hehe
I’m really excited to see what she brings to the table in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings!
She has a great personality and I love her raspy voice 🤗
Been following her for a VERY long time and it’s so great to see her coming up! Get it girl!
I just watched Farewell and didn't know she spoke Mandarin so well! Very good in that movie as well
This interview is so smooth. It's like watching two people have a normal conversation, there's no awkwardness nor tension. I love this!!
Shes a both beautiful and a unique character
Awkwafina is So Funny, Cute and one of the Best actresses Ever!!
She’s so funny. Love her in Ocean’s 8
Not only she was the funniest in crazy rich asians she had the most character ,kind and understanding etc like that scene where rachel just broke up w the boy and she walks to peik's house and peik automatically goes to hug her , i cry shes such a good actor😭😭😭😭
I just finished watching this movie and Searching! She is amazing and I was very happy to support both Asian films this even! Great job with them both and hopefully much more to come. ❤️
Didn’t realize she was such a smart young lady.
One of my favorite movies.
she looks sooo different from her character in crazy rich asians
With her hair down and dressed more normally, she looks like she's 30 and not a still-active, 70-something grandma lol
She's so awesome, funny and beautiful.
She is so bright and optimistic, I love her! Hoped she had a good time in sg and kl!
She's dope! She's so quick with her thoughts and her comic timing is perfect! Great interview!
She’s hilarious even in Shang Chi HAHA
She steals every scene she's in. Love Awkwafina
I really like her, a great personality! New generation of Asian Americans with their voices and minds
Why do all talk show host always ask Asian-American actors about their family? I've heard the family question on EVERY talk show when it is an Asian person being interviewed.
In this case I can understand it because she isn't widely known yet and young. However, bringing up the parents of someone like Lucy Liu is weird at this point in her career.
Right? Even with Steven Yeun on Conan or John Cho on James Corden, they still ask that question.
Natural curiosity about a culture he knows little about . . .
Lauren Yoo i loved it when Constance Wu checked Ellen, when she asked "so where are you from?" And Constance responded "Richmond, Virginia!" with a smile on her face. Lol
Lauren Yoo what is your family like?
YESSSSS AWKWAFINA MAKIN IT BIG FINALLY!!!!!!
I'm not Asian and I couldn't stop 😭😭
It was a great movie😍😍😍
Good on you, Kimmel! Fully respectful questions while still maintaining humor. Awkwafina is effortlessly hilarious and just so cool!
Awkwafina lowkey has that Janis Joplin raspy voice
About time this girl is getting famous. I've been digging her music since it came out. So proud of her. ❤️
i love her and loved her even more in crazy rich asians 💛 ++ love her voice too!!
I saw this movie last weekend and I came out crying too! It was so good and this gal was so funny in it. Lots of all types of people in the theater watching it and it’s pretty vanilla where I live. Quite a few older people (in their 60’s)watching it too. ❤️. I highly recommend it!
I love how she is breaking the glass ceiling for the Asian American community 😍❤️thank you so much!!
She makes the movie.. I loved it!!
Omg!!! I remember watching her on Girl Code on MTV and I look up to her still to this day! Please never stop being Awkwafina!!!
So happy to see Awkwafina here - can't wait to read her unedited critiques in that chinese food magazine!!!
Unless it’s due to illness or smoking, her voice is so cool.
Her voice is this way in the movie so I think it's just her normal voice.
@@k1988smith , and I'm sure her grandma thinks so too. No wonder grandma can't tell if Awkwafina is acting.
That will happen if u smoke a tonne of weed
she's always had this voice since little
@TheEarthHasEyes For real? Not good for her..
Damn i love her voice!
I love her voice shes got such a great personality too! Love her
She’s actually really sweet. It’s finally nice to see her in an interview where she’s not being constantly talked over, ignored, or belittled *cough* Ocean’s 8 cast *cough*
She's so funny in Bad Neighbors 2, I still laugh just thinking about it.
i love how her voice sounds Like An Rock star
True!! Its lovely to see all great actors on.big screens
In the movie she reminded me SO much of Hannah Montana. I couldn't get over it. She was great.
She sounds like Natasha Lyonne from OITNB!
Nat R oh wow I was wondering who her voice reminded me of
Thank you! I knew her voice sounded familiar. You'd think it would have came easier to me after binging OITNB over two days.
Yessssss I think it’s a New York thing
Now I cant unhear it. You are right!
They're just smokers lollll
I'm watching Awkwafina for the very first time. I start chuckling at the fun repartee between her and Kimmel. Then at the end Awkwafina says THAT FINAL SENTENCE that BLOWS UP MY MIND: "I think it's the power of REPRESENTATION" and my heart bursts with emotion as tears come to my eyes.
Thank you Awkwafina from a human of Asian ancestry.
Her voice is beyond dope. Met her a while back in LA. She's an awesome person. Film was amazing.
she has such a beautiful soul she’s funny and i weirdly like her voice
Hope she gets more lead roles in movies she’s hilarious, I love her personality.
I love Awkwafina so much
love her so much.
Awlkwafina is hilarious in Crazy Rich Asians! I recommend this movie to all! Be early to get a good seat. So popular!
Gosh I love her!! Soooo hilarious!
She is really a genuinely funny person
I like the way Jimmy listens to the guest so close. I really admire him.
I want to see her in more movies. She was one of the most memorable characters in CRA.
I loved her in the movie Ocean8 and Crazy rich asians. Can she be my friend?
I know the feeling she is describing. I felt the same way when I walked out of Black Panther. Representation actually matters and you do not realize it until you experience it.
Amen sista!!! Better represent👏🏼👏🏼 I AM SO HAPPY WITH THE OUTCOME OF THIS MOVIE❤️💛 it was truly amazing!
this interview made me smile :,)
I love her husky voice.
She’s seems so chill and down to earth. I’m excited for this movie bc We’re always talking about how there’s little African American representation, but I think there is even less Asian representation.I hope this movies does well and I can’t wait to see it!😊
I absolutely love her voice!
I've been following her for years. She has a come a long way. Good for her!
the joy luck club is a great movie. i recommend it to anyone. btw that movie came out in 1993 and now we have crazy rich asians damn it has been so many years since we had an asian dominated movie cast. let's hope this is a start in the right direction.
Christopher Aparicio my Asian principal used to chase me down w/ that book. I thought she was embarrassing but deep down cute. She made me think of my mom but the way nicer version. I was the few Asian so I guess she felt it was her duty to " look after me" or something 🤔🤷🏻♀️. Odd, bc I think my kid gets the same treatments and experiences as me... Only, she's part white & blends in - mostly...
memiors of a geisha had an all aisan cast too
@@reechel4390 ...not exactly. The roles of Col. Derricks (played by Ted Levine) and Lt. Hutchins (played by Paul Adelstein ) were considered major roles resulting in a mixed nationality cast.
I really like her voice 😻
She’s soooo funny! I’ve loved everything she’s been part of 😍
I love her in the movie. Such a great personality!
Making queens, ny proud ♥️
Awkwafina finely getting the recognition she deserves! god, I love her voice.
Her voice is so unique, I like it! I totally didn't expect her to have a deep, raspy voice when I first saw her. It surprised me and grabbed my attention... She certainly stands out from the rest!
Love her voice!! 😍
