I can remember my dad watching Boxing from The Olympic auditorium in LA in the early 1960's and I remember Jimmy Lennon the announcer. RIP all.

This film was my introduction to Scorsese. My dad had rented it in the late 80's. After he watched the movie, he gave me a brief summary, and said, very excitingly, "watch this movie, this ain't no Rocky bullshit!" So I watched it, and he was right.
The brutality and the violence of the sport, which had spilled over into Jake's life outside of the ring, was fascinating. I became a Scorsese junkie after watching "Raging Bull."
