I love the SVJ (the car, not this or any composite model from Autoart) so I am trying to convince myself to get one or two of the just released SVJs from Autoart. However the thick plastic and poor shutlines are giving me second thoughts. The doors don't have crisp shutlines, and the bonnet at the front is even worse, with wide gaps where it meets the body. And what's worse is that because of the gap we can see the side profile of the bonnet is very thick, much thicker than it would be on the real car. And indeed much thicker than the bonnets of models made from diecast. Just check out for example the shot at 10:04. And to think that at the time of ditching metal diecast in favor of vastly cheaper plastic models one of the reasons given by AA was that plastic would allow finer casting including thinner elements. The opposite seems to have happened here. So much for "high detail" models... and it's a real pity how far AA have fallen from their glory days of highly detailed, crisp diecast models boasting all tampo printing such as the Alfa Romeo 33 TT and the Pagani Zonda R.
Very nice review Rob as you have pointed out all the details for potential buyers to take into consideration of this Autoart SVJ. Great work!! Keep it up! Great improvements as well on Autoart’s part regarding the carbon decal. Hope they will keep on improving those carbon textures.
that model looks incredible. i agree they are cutting too many corners compared to the old ways in both material and detail but one thing autoart still shine more than any other brand in the industry when it comes to opening models is they get the complex shapes and stance bang on. the use of rubber that looks like actual rubber is done the best as well which makes a massive difference. even with the foibles id have an opening plastic model like this over most of the closed resin garbagio out there.
Wow. Love what you do. I am doing a 300 supercar/hypercar/megacar collection in 1:64 and about $2000 and 30 years into this subcollection already (lots more money into the entire 4000 car collection).
Hi Rob hope you're doing great with your home decoration projects. I'd kindly like to ask you what best glue to fix the door of this AUTOart Lambo side door, please? 12:03 As I tried to open the side door carefully, the hinge just snapped, it broke just like that, I didn't even forse it. Must be the mixture of the metal or something. It looks like a straight cut. :( - Vince
Lamborghini Aventador SVJ what an amazing car, I’ll be buying this AA model but I’m torn between this blue glauco or the rosso effesto or candy apple red 💪🏻💪🏻
I have to say, the brake calipers look horrendous on this... they look huge, plasticky, and cheap. I understand they are carbon ceramic, but on the older autoart models they put a metal decal that looked super good and detailed. This one looks like it came off a Maisto model. The front disc looks way bigger than the rear, and it looks disproportionally bigger. 11:51 shows it best
AUTOart have been cutting corners for years now and their models are getting more expensive. This is why resin models are still popular, they may not open but are way more realistic in all the finishes
Hey, I collect Maisto and I took offense to that! 😆😆. I don’t own any AA, just a little too expensive for me right now. Maisto are actually great for the price- $14.99 at Costco/Sams, can’t beat that!
@@apeofspace8727 I couldn't agree more! The bulk of my collection is budget models. I have 20 or so AUTOart's, and 40 maisto/bburago/hot wheels. When the model costs the same price as 20 maistos, then you start to get picky
@@Nickgantz12 Exactly. I would be picky too if I was paying over $200 for a model car. I don’t own any Bburago cars, how is the quality compared to a Maisto? Bburago seems to be hard to find in stores.
Because resin model are not mass production. And many resin offer more details in the model. Some detail take more man hours to do. Also resin often charging same msrp price on different model. But these model not actually in same market value. A limited 1 ~ 10 pcs special edition are near same price as a limited 99 pcs etc. There are other things effect the price. 1. Resin company less likely offer wholesale price to model shop. Many resin shop are re-seller so they asking over msrp. 2. They offer the model earlier than anyone. And they sometime making more variety of model(different colors or car types). But sometime there variety are un-popular so they have to balance the cost.

good question that the industry [particularly autoart] are trying to confuse people with. diecast is the use of zinc alloy metal that uses a casting process in pre formed dies in its construction hence 'diecast'. 'composite' doesnt exist in the proper sense at 1/18 in that true composite materials such as real carbon fibre or kevlar etc arent used at all, rather they use a combination of plastic for the bodies and some metal in the core to give strength. so instead of just saying their models are plastic [which they are] they use the word composite instead which sounds fancier and less trashy than just saying the truth these models are plastic. hope that helps
Beautiful model but too similar to my Autoart full carbon black/yellow Centenario. A ton of reuse/carryover parts, engine is an identical drop for example.

yes i agree cant really compare to the signature series models but still a nice opening model

The rear suspension should have been yellow. Would have added some much needed color to the engine bay. And no seat belts at this price is just weird

I just recently got the Lamborghini Aventador S very beautiful model and i have the ACR Viper too
Really wish AA would have done the SV and standard Aventador in Verde Artemis, or even a turquoise chrome.
AUTOart will never do chrome colors, too expensive to produce on a big scale
How long did you wait to get yours? I bought mine 3 days ago but it said preorder on the website.
