Eskom can solve this issue relatively easily if they simply: 1.) Open the market to allow for anyone to generate power and regulate it back to grid. 2.) Focus on maintaining distribution. 3.) Mandate that all of the industrial sector must be 30% renewable within 5 years. 4.) Provide a rebate of 95% dropping to 90% within 5 years for energy given back to grid (so people can effectively use the grid as a battery) Points 3 and 4 could be changed depending but all of this is achievable and would reduce the strain on the grid enough to get the economy back on track. Unfortunately this will never happen and greed will always blind those in power, such a shame.
True ,sadly the powers that be (ANC) have hidden motives to ' fix ' Eskom. They don't have a plan ! It's just too difficult for them to use common sense and say 'Okay , this is how we gonna tackle this huge problem. Why ? because they are the problem.
Why is it hardly mentioned that due to the fact that the power-utility Eskom was mismanaged for years ??? This is the main cause why people are forced to look after themself. South-Africa is running to the ground by the politicians. Only aprox. 5% of state-owned Institutions bankrupt.
Orania doesn't employ people from outside their own area. But of course the squatters could always resort to a life of crime instead of building their own self sustaining town. - oh wait , that's what they do already.
