Hey Megan! Thank you for your videos, I’ve stumbled upon them while researching Baclofen Pumps. I have cerebral palsy, and I appreciate your dedication and hard work. I look forward to your response. Houston Everett
The way my doc and I describe it was walking with spasticity was like walking on prosthetics and when the pump medicine starts to work your legs are weak and are like a wet noodle. That's why we have to be patient and work on strengthening. Hope this helps
Hi Megan, Thanks for sharing your experience. I have MS and the spasticity is causing me a lot of pain and my legs won't take a step no matter how hard I try because they are so stiff. Some days I can't get them on the foot rests of my wheelchair. I am having my pump installed on January 14th 2019, I am worried about the placement location. I understand it will go below my belly on either side of belly button. Does it cause you discomfort when you sit? I just feel like it will bind up as I sit down. I am a slim guy and 6'1" tall. Thanks Chris in Albuquerque
Christopher, Honestly the first few months you are going to notice it with everything you do. After a while it will just feel like it’s always been there. I will tell you that I have found certain pants uncomfortable because my pump is right where my pants hit on my waist. I wear a lot of elastic waistband pants or maternity pants.
@@namissgirls2011 Megan thank you for your reply, information from someone with experience is so helpful. I know we all all different but how long did you require after surgery to return to work or felt you could function. If you have any other ideas about what is best, or things you would do different please share with me. Chris in Albuquerque
Hey Christopher I need some advice. I was born at 24 weeks early and unfortunately at age 11 in 2005 I was diagnosed with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis. Yes children get arthritis too. Anyway JRA is a progressive autoimmune disease that also attacks connective tissue and muscles and eyes. Well there are many many different forms of the disease. For example 1) Polyarticular means many joints are effected. So 5 or more joints are effected. Systemic means the entire is effected. There are other autoimmune diseases in the same category like Sjogren's Syndrome and Lupus. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 The difference between the two is Sjogren's Syndrome is rare and Lupus is common as hell. Both diseases attack all the muscles, joints and eyes but lupus is seen more in people that are mixed and it causes depression and anxiety. One of the biggest things is on July 27 2020 I will be getting a baclofen pump. This is because some forms of arthritis are systemic. Systemic means the entire body is effected. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
I have had CP since age 2 and Dystonia since age 4. I am just as nervous because I will be getting my first one in July. I actually get my pump on my birthday July 27.
Hey girl! I've had a pump for seven years. I went from fully dependent on someone else to almost completely independent. Everything you're saying is spot on haha. I would say you can look at my videos, but I don't upload that often. Check out my blog and contact me on there! wheelchairwhit.tumblr.com
