My understanding is that God was at that time selective as to when he checks in on his creation. He did not constantly check in on his perfect creation and look apon them with suspicion as they were his trusted children. As an all powerfull God he has created the gift of free will which allows his creation freedoms and not to live like robotic slaves. This brings an unknown element as to not always know what pleasant things his creation is up to and would give him enjoyment discovering the things we have discovered and produced. It is likley Satan knew this already and picked the right time to attack. Traditionally, God would always talk with Adam in the breezy part of the day anyway. This time, God asked while Adam and Eave hid. He knew exactly where when they did not answer. We can't blame God, it is not something that he could forcefully change as it would mean he has acted against free will and it would have brought into question with his loyal angelic sons who were watching in shock weather God was worthy if he instantly punished them. Just like a parent may allow child to touch a hot stove in order to learn a lesson not to do it again, God has allowed this temporary situation with Mankind, Satan and the demons to take place to lay to rest any doubt that he isn't worthy to rule Mankind. It is proven, man can't rule man and Satan nor any Angelic creature can do so either. We all have the chance to bare witness to these current events happening during the last days and it will serve as a perfect reminder to future generations who may bring this into question. God has acted lovingly, justly and with perfect resolve. No human since Cain and Abel until now would likely have been born if Adam and Eave didn't sin. The seeds passed would have mixed differently, this means we have been given a very unique opportunity to be born and take in knowledge that will lead to everlasting life and salvation in a future where God will open up his blessings and satisfy the desire of all living things. He did, but god still gave us free will. That’s the entire point, Adam still had the chance to not sin, it was complete free will. Just because god knows you will do something, doesn’t mean that you didn’t have complete free will the entire time.
