    Can you possibly squeeze a 16inch laptop in the laptop compartment?

    Really like this line of travel bags from REI that I have the 40 & 18. The 18 doesn't have a rigid frame & I believe the 28 has a wire frame like the 40.

      Hey youthnet! I agree! I'm still hoping to take a look at the 40 soon. Everyone seems to love the bag and it comes highly recommended. I'm guessing you have great things to say about the bag as well : ) Take care!

    nice video, I just got a rei ruck 28 and its pretty good. I am also considering getting a smaller 18 for when the weather is warmer and i dont need as much capacity. used for day hikes.

    i wish the 18 had water bottel pockets on each side, I like to have the weight balanced.

    Are those full size nalgene bottles in the ruckpack 18?

      Hey Daniel! It's actually a 16oz Nalgene bottle in both bags. Seems I failed to mention that : ) Thanks!

    I'm traveling to Taiwan and I have the REI Ruckpack 40 and 18. I'm going to carry on the 18 and check the 40 inside a collapsable duffle. To carry together, I have a carabiner on the 40 that the 18 hangs off of. Awesome backpacks

    Hey Chris, since my daylite didn’t work out for me I’m considering one of these bags. Do you have a preference? Which would work best for a petite woman?

    • @ChrisU
      @ChrisU  4 года назад +1

      Hey Cindy! For me, it depends on how I would use the bag. I feel that I would get more overall use out of the Ruckpack 18 because I could use it as a daypack, around-town bag, or even a small personal item when flying. For me personally, I would probably only use the Ruckpack 28 when on a short trip, so I've only used mine a few times. Both are great bags though : ) I assume the Ruckpack 18 would fit you better as well due to it's size. The big question though is if you need the extra space of the 28. The great thing is both are currently on sale at REI. Hope this helps!

    Great review I bought both. But for edc I’m looking for a vortex gammout 2.0 or mystery ranch 2 day assault to carry some things. And hiking.

    Are these bags good for day hikes? I am definitely looking at both of these but more keen on the 28 both for hiking purposes only. Also would the 28 be ok for a 2 day hike and camp, I am new to hiking and camping scene.

      Great questions! For me, I feel the Ruckpack 28 excels as a travel backpack. Examples would be for car travel and I've heard some use it as a personal item when flying, even though I've not done so personally. The reason I would say more travel opposed to hiking/camping is that the weight would be slightly more than a bag specifically made for hiking/camping. But, with that said, if you purchased and used it for hiking/camping, I feel the bag would be able to handle that role with no issue. The Ruckpack 18 would be a good option for day hikes and an around town type bag. It does seem to weigh more than the REI Flash 22 though. The Ruckpack 18 is probably my favorite "smaller" bags I've had a chance to take a look at. I really like the Ruckpack line from REI because they seem to be built well and should, hopefully, last. Now is a great time to take a closer look because REI is having an awesome sale and these bags are included.

    Literally just ordered the 28 as a new everyday and day walking bag when I don’t need my mountaineering size bag. I’m in the UK, and the bag info on REI says it’s unisex so I hope it’s ok for my frame. I’m quite long in the back for a woman so fingers crossed.
