    Oh, the good old days...walking around a mall, window shopping, eating at the food court. No masks nor social distancing. Just mere months ago. 😞 Thanks for posting and providing such good info about these malls!

    I like that this mall is updated and modern yet it’s not to terribly white washed, it’s a very nice mall!

      They have had a lot of problems with most anchors leaving and vacancies since this filming. I really do hope it stay nice!

      Raw & Real Retail I don’t think it will have a problem it might struggle a little after the pandemic but since it’s modern I don’t see it having any major issues and I’m guessing the anchors were sears, jcpenny?

    This was the mall I used to go too when my parents would want us to leave the house. Such good memories I hope it doesn’t close

    I lived in Meriden for a few years in the early 90s, and the mall still looks good. I've had the urge to take a nostalgic rod trip back just for a drive. Some of the best people I have ever met in my life were my friends in Meriden.

    The good old days… it’s so sad what’s become of this mall. Many Fri nights, Sat, Sun spent shopping there.

    It's a shame Namdar owns this mall now. It still retains a decent selection of stores despite losing Sears and Macy's.

      @@RawRealRetail This is my local mall. Used to be my favorite in Connecticut. About 2 dozen stores remain in the mall. Ulta Beauty never reopened after the mall reopened after being closed for a few months due to the pandemic. They weren't even open 5 years. The old Macy's is supposed to become a huge medical building even though Mid-State Medical Center is across from the Lewis Avenue entrance to the mall.

    I like the Blue Sky and Clouds wraparound! Nice to see some colour in a modern update, reminds me of Super Mario Bros 2 (FDS) For Super Players 🇯🇵

    This mall is a ghost town now. The Meriden Mall was my families go-to mall for the first 20 years of my life. A lot of people in central Connecticut seem to have moved on to the Westfarms mall as soon as they exit their teen years... and it shows.
    I also worked at this mall for a couple years back when its capacity was about 90%.
    It's no more than 50% now and it's really sad.

    • @RawRealRetail
      @RawRealRetail  3 года назад

      I think 50% is a bit of an exaggeration. We visited this mall today and it was doing much better than that. Expect an update video very soon from this visit.

    • @guszap85
      @guszap85 3 года назад

      @@RawRealRetail It might be a bit better now, 7 months down the line. But the 50% number came from the City of Meriden in an official comment around the time I posted this. I hope it sticks around!

      Went there this weekend (Dec 2024.) RIP Meriden Mall. It’s safe to say 95% of the stores have left. It’s truly a ghost town.

    It’s almost a dead mall now…went WAY down and it’s super depressing to see. Barely anything open and it seems like a seedy back alley now. How unfortunate

    This property was one of the malls built by May Co. The sister mall was Enfield Square. At the CT/MA border. Over time Westfield purchased both malls. Westfield wasn’t the best at picking properties. Both these malls were showing sign of ageing. Enfield died first with this one in a steady decline. Fast forward to today and we are left with a mall on the brink. We again see Boscov’s exposed to yet another near dead mall. How they remain profitable is beyond me. Regarding this mall it’s actually not that bad ignoring the Christmas decorations I’ve seen much worse malls. For what ever reason this mall is not resonating with customers. It can only spiral down even further. Having said that, the inline stores are still filled bit. Perhaps it’s gotten worse. We all know how quickly these properties can empty out. So sad a tale of two sisters that nobody came to the dance for.
