Great list! Some of these games are in part 2 that I already posted on the channel. thank you very much for the comment!
SMB 2 was not a failure by any means. Hate it all you want, but it’s still one of the most beloved NES games of all time. It also sold extremely well
I don't even discuss how many sales, but I can't say that I think it's good, like you said. The only good things about this game are some music and some elements that were used in future games in the franchise.👍
@@itsgreatgames in all fairness SMB 2 just brings back fond memories of being a kid. SMB 3 is better in every way, as you pointed out
😂😂😂
As an avid retro gamer from the old days aka old school, I'd have to say this video was very well done. I do think this has a ton of potential to lead into a full order series to cover so many games. Job well done
My personal 'Top 10' Retro Games List (in no particular order) -
Streets of Rage
Revenge of Shinobi
Super Metroid & Metroid Prime (If you regard GameCube games as retro enough. I've recommend playing the Metroid Prime Trilogy on the Wii & Metroid Prime 1 remastered on Switch)
Zelda: Ocarina of Time & Majora's Mask, Wind Waker & Twilight Princess (If you regard GameCube games as retro enough, I'd recommend playing Twilight Princess on the Wii & possibly the Wind Waker HD on Wii U)
Terranigma
Donkey Kong Country 1, 2 & 3 (particularly 3)
Super Mario World, Super Mario Bros 2 & 3, Mario 64
Banjo Kazooie
Resident Evil 1, 2 & 3 (including 0, 1 remake & 4 if you regard GameCube games as retro enough)
Sonic 1, 2 & 3 (and Adventure 1 & 2 If you regard Dreamcast games as retro enough)
Kirby's Ghost Trap
Space Station: Silicon Valley
Metal Gear Solid (including 2 & 3 if you regard PS2 games as retro enough)
Final Fantasy 7 (and maybe 8 & 9, particularly 9. But I've not played 8 or 9. Oh and FF Crystal Chronicles if you regard GameCube games as retro enough)
Mickey Mouse's Castle of Illusion
Alex Kidd in Miracle World
Super Bomberman 3 (and possibly 1, 2, 4 & 5, but 4 & 5 only got released in Japan, plus 3 is the only one I've played)
Command & Conquer
Tales of Symphonia (If you regard GameCube games as retro enough)
Kirby Air Ride (mainly for the City Trial mode in the game and if you regard GameCube games as retro enough)
Super Smash Bros Melee (If you regard GameCube games as retro enough)
Carmageddon 64
Animal Crossing (If you regard GameCube games as retro enough)
Doom (and possibly Doom 2)
Worms
Tetris
Mohawk Jim & Headphone Jack
Southpark 64
The Sims (if you regard that as retro enough)
Klonoa ( and maybe Klonoa 2 if you regard the PS2 as retro enough
F-Zero GX
...and many many more that will come to my mind after writing this list.
I Know there are more than 10 games in my top 10 (62), I got carried away whilst writing lol. and there are other games like Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, FF6, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, FF10, FF12, etc but I haven't played those games, so I've not added them on the list.
Also I've currently started playing Metroid Fusion and am still at the beginning of the game, if I had completed it or got really far at least, then that too would have been in this list. Also I tried not putting any Handheld games in my list despite adding Tetris and despite thinking of the Gameboy version of the game and not the console versions lol.
I also tried not putting many 6th gen games in this list unless the sequel from a franchise that existed before the 6th generation.
my friend, your list is huge. I'm happy to have included some games from the GameCube console, which in my opinion is the most unfair console to date. I'll consider a lot of games for part two of the video, but in this list I only included games that I've already played and unfortunately I haven't played all of the games you wrote about. Thank you very much for the comment. I'll pin it to the first comment.
@@itsgreatgames I agree so much. I will look forward to part 2 :D.
It was super hard for me to come up with only 10 best games. I got carried away with nostalgia lol. I also haven't played all retro games either so my personal list will be flawed, so the vid was really good to watch in case I missed out on any gems. Thank you for your vid.
A true gamer you are! Crazy crazy good list, wtf! And yes, GC is retro!
@@00Xander00 very solid list 👍
Nice bro. Rhino coins! Kremkoins man
What I hate about DKC 2 is the fact that we have to collect coins in order to just save progress. Bullshizzz I say.
I played many of the games you mentioned on this list. Thanks for bringing back some good memories. Lot of fun games.
I'm happy and I thank you too, bro
My two favorite games of all time are Zelda A Link to the Past and Donkey Kong Country 2
Very good!
Final Fantasy VII and Metal Gear Solid for the OG playstation
One of these two games is in the next video that I will upload on Tuesday.
Cool retro stuff can't get enough of it
On Tuesday there will be the second part.
@itsgreatgames keep up the good work subbed. Keep gaming history alive with vids like these. Not so much into the new ganes coming out since big co. Have those covered already 😆 but gaming nostalgia is always a plus!
That NES helicopter game looks like something I'd be willing to play but you forgot to say the name of it. 😞
The name of the game is: TIGER HELI.
Console: NES
@@itsgreatgames OH! Tiger Heli. I remember the commercials but never played it. TY. 🙂
Master system-R-Type
NES- Contra
Mega Drive-Contra Hard core
SNES- Contra-The Alien Wars
PSX-Tekken 3
N64-International Superstar Soccer 98
Dreamcast-Virtua Soccer 2
Playstation 2- God of War 2
XBOX 360-Dead Rising
Playstation 3- GTA 4.
This would be my list.
👏👏👏👏👏
Yes, in my opinion.
Paradroid (C64) - Explore the decks of a spaceship, destroying or taking over the various robots that have gone rogue.
Impossible Mission (C64) - There have been ports to modern systems, but this one is the original.
Lemmings (Amiga) - Again, there have been ports, but this one is the original.
On Super Mario 3, I have to disagree. I ABSOLUTLEY recommend going through every world if you have the skill. Each one is very different and creative. If you use the warp whistles, you're missing out. 🙂
Im currently playing DK2. I like it but I find its rythm too slow cause It's too hard. When I was a child I always prefered Mario World.
I understand you.
Mario 3 came out 17 years before Mario Galaxy and would've been considered retro at that time. We are now 17 years after the release of Mario Galaxy, so I believe that it can also now be considered retro.
Has it been 17 years since Mario Galaxy? time really flies. This question of what is a retro game and what is not is sometimes a dilemma.
Great video bro couldn't agree more. Finally a RUclipsr that ain't one of them yes men that try to say SMB2 and Donkey Kong Country 3 is the best of there franchise.
Thank you very much, Bro! Your comment is very welcome and makes a difference to the channel.
10:03 I would rather it’s PC counterpart Major Stryker. :)
I think I know what you're referring to👍
Mickey castle of illusion 8 bit is one of the first games I emulated and then I bought it on game gear
Castle of illusion was the first Disney game I played.
Sonic 2 on master system is my game.
🇬🇧
excellent! I played a lot when I was a kid.
@@itsgreatgames same, played it around ‘93 on a Master System 2.
Ive been trying to complete the sonic 2 SMS remake on the PS vita.
but I’m finding it too difficult 😊
🇬🇧
I appreciate the hard work you put into this video. I really enjoyed it. Not the list I would have chose but a great one none the less. Look forward to future content. Arcade gaming is very interesting too. Might be worth a video..🤔
I won't forget this when I do a part 2
Awesome ganes
Love the older art style of games, so gorgeous in their own right! Am I right in saying there is a new Disney illusion game coming out soon?
I haven't heard about this. I only know about the old ones from the Master system, mega drive and castle of illusion released in 2013 with very beautiful graphics!
good one! great list!
❤️👍
SO much love and memory in here!!
😉❤️
Super Mario Bros 2 was anything but a failure, its the 5th best selling nintendo game of all time.. sure its different than all the other Mario Bros games but its still a great game.
Kickle Cubicle
🥂
What’s the name of the helicopter game?
Tiger-Heli
What about the first game to get perfect scores LOZ Ocarina of Time?
The Megadrive version of Tiger Heli is way better than the NES. Can't think of any reason to play the 8 bit version these days.
Then again... I would have picked Wonder Boy 3 on the Master System over Mickey Mouse. It's the best 8 bit game period IMO.
I respect your opinion, bro, but I can. I'm not disparaging the nega drive version, but perhaps I could mention the Arcade version. There is an 8-Bit game that is a lot of fun!
Super mario brothers 2 was not a failure?
Mario 2 is one of my all time favorites
Maybe in my rush I made a mistake that went unnoticed, but I think Super Mario Bros 2 is really bad! the only good things are the soundtrack and that some elements were reused in Super Mario World.
Very good! We can all like whatever game we want and you're not the first to tell me this.
@@itsgreatgamesI can take it or leave it. If it didn't exist anymore I wouldn't care, but it is somewhat fun and challenging. I heard they put Mario characters in it at the last minute for marketing purposes
It was correlated to the tv show some so it was different but not like a Zelda 2 different. Which both were ok but not terrible
Where was Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo, Super Metroid or any of the older Mortal Kombat games?
they are all part of this title, but only in part 2. It is very difficult to choose from a list of ten. however, I confess that I deserved to have at least one fight on this list.
Cool video. And thanks for using the correct word "addictive", as "addicting" isn't even a word 🙂
Haha ok👍😉
You forgot _Spyro the Dragon._
I confess that I don't know this game. Which console is it for?
Of all the Classic Sonic games, you chose 8bit Sonic 2? Really?…
Yep. For the master system version.
Pokemon Red
Unfortunately, I've never played this one and the games on the list are the ones I've already played. Is this for gameboy?
It's weird that you being from the U.S. are calling the "Sega Genesis" the "Mega-Drive". Not that there's anything wrong with that, but why do you call it that despite being from North America?
I'm not North American. The United States is not the only country where English is spoken, but since that's the case, don't you call it a mega drive?
@@itsgreatgames Well on your youtube profile location it says United States, so I thought you were from the U.S. I wasn't trying to be rude or be provacative and I sincerely apologize if I might've seemed like it.
It's just in the U.S. and Canada, it's called 'Sega Genesis'. And your accent sounded very American/Canadian. Wasn't trying to instigate anything personal. And again, I apologize if I seemed rude; I really wasn't trying to start anything bad; just wanted more clarity I guess.
@@itsgreatgames But I'll tell you this, if it wasn't for the copyright of "mega-drive" that already existed in the U.S. and Canada, the Sega Genesis(as it's called in North America) would've been called Mega-Drive; just like everywhere else. Figured I'd share a bit of insight with you on that.
@@G.L.999 I know it by both names, but I don't see a difference in the consoles.
@@itsgreatgames That's true. They're both one in the same. I appreciate this civil discussion between us. Oh, I also subbed to your channel! Take care :)
Is the script/voice over AI generated? The syntax and delivery is so weird.
Yep. It was the most natural thing I could do, but I do the script, the research, the editing and everything else.
16 bit Castle of Illusion is superior
é porque castle os ilusion do master system é muito bonito para um videogame de 8 bits
I don't think any considers Mario 2 a failure. Unless you don't like fun games. 🍻
yes, i do, but not from SmB 2.
😂😂😂
You never said the name of the nes helicopter game
Really? Tiger heli
Yes! 😅
Failure? I thought you said you could be trusted?
You have the right to think differently
I mean, we just call them "games" but splutever
Also, you never actually tell us the name of the nes helicopter game.
Sorry! Tiger-heli
@@itsgreatgames thanks, it looked fun 🍻
'Tiger heli' not 'helicopter game' ?
the name of the game is "tiger-heli". "helicopter game" was just me referring to a helicopter game.
Dkc beats Mario change my mind
They are releasing another dk country. And jungle city and ot desert strike would have been better then that nes helicopter game lol
I wanted to put only one per franchise, otherwise I would have to put 4 DK on the list
Actually playing Banjo Kazooie on the 360 and it sucks 😂 first of all, they forced you into buying a guide or calling the nintento hotline.
Then theres the horrible camera and the terrible controls (which are better in banjo tooie).
if you mean the banjoo Kazzoie that was released for the 360 after Microsoft bought RARE, it's really bad. a completely different game
Mostly platformers on the list
In the part two.
Was this written by AI?
it wasn't. only the narration that is AI. The rest is all up to me.
This is some weird AI shit y'all, let's pack up
I research, I create my script, I make my thumbnail, I choose the titles, I edit my video and I simply don't narrate. To be quite honest, I don't think the narration was bad. All of this takes at least 3 days of work.
The AI narration is passionless which gives it an uncanny valley feel. And the script reads too much like a grade school assignment written in a hurry. I you completely forget to mention game titles and keeps saying things like "gorgeous graphics" and "great soundtrack" without once delving in what makes it so. That's more like a skeleton script multiple revisions away from deserving to be called a finished job. These are issues that can't be saved by competent editing. Don't let me dissuade you from making more but if you want to put out quality content there is one corner you can't cut: Making sure every line of the script is either interesting or at least informative or entertaining. That, and a voice who sounds like they care about whatever they're narrating.
There is nothing wrong with the video and it is on par with most retro game reviews that I have watched. No reason for the hate. The AI narration can be annoying and I would prefer a real person but there is not much else to complain about in this video. It was a solid list, I don’t agree with every title but I’m not supposed to because it’s not my opinion.
Groan. AI narrators. Groan.
😏
Is... This an AI generated video???
it definitely isn't. I do everything, I research, I write the script, I edit the video, I just don't narrate the video, but I do everything else.
