It's kinda good because now he doesn't have his story pre-written. Like Shane. Shane was meant to die in the comics before they went to the farm. He had to die before season 3. He should have basically died in season 1. He was a fan favorite though, so they kept him on. With Daryl anything can happen. They can have him alive without worrying about not being true to the comics. He could stay until the end of the show. Unlike a few characters. Which I won't spoil for you.
