He was my favorite player on my favorite team when Detroit had this lineup. We were the team to beat in the east for several years. I even had his shoes, the And1's that were white and red.
A big defensive team. Ben Wallace D.P.O.Y in 2002,2003,2005,2006. Prince in the second all defensive team 2005,2006,2007,2008 and Billups in the second all defensive team in 2005 and 2006.
I owe these guys a serious apology. After beating LA in 04 i hated these guys, 16 years later i wish i got to see them play more. I was blinded by the hate
If you recall Chauncey bounced around the league but eventually found his niche when he joined the T'Wolves and eventually the Pistons. He became an excellent passer, shootee, and a defender. Chauncey has done everything.
It's a shame that these two teams never played each other in the finals. Two teams with completely different styles going head to head, it would have been very entertaining!
ABC Sunday Showcase April 2, 2006 Phoenix-Detroit, 1:00, ABC. Mike Breen, Hubie Brown, Lisa Salters Houston-LA Lakers, 3:30, ABC regional. Mike Tirico, Bill Walton, Steve Jones Denver-Dallas, 3:30, ABC regional. John Saunders, Len Elmore
They were Unstoppable that year. Ironically, the number one team for the entire season, and they didn't make it to the NBA finals. I just couldn't believe it. They should have won three consecutive championships- 2004, 2005, and 2006. They seems like they didn't want it in 2007, but could have done it in 2008.
@Ben Raptoulis I agree, although I think '06 was his best shot at mvp. His impact as a floor general was so hard to quantify because he didn't pass or score as well as some of his counterparts. I think that hurt his mvp chances a lot.
So true. I feel like if you followed the game though you could really see it. Passes the eye test, but as you said, hard to put a figure on it. Hopefully he's a first ballot hall of famer. Definitely underappreciated. Of the elite guards of his era (Nash, Kidd, Davis, etc.) he's right up there with the best.
was Brian Grant in this game?well i thought hes playing in the wrong team,i wish he have play in pistons back that time.anyway this pistons was special, thanks for the winning hard basketball memories, for ben, rip, chauncey, sheed, tayshaun,
Take a look at how when he was in detroit they had a great run and then he went to the nuggets and the pistons got bad and they got better he is the most underrated pg in nba history but la might be as good becuz he plays the sg.
Too bad they didn't play the part where Hubie said (during one of the replays) He said "He shot this one...from Cleveland. I mean just WAY beyond the long line." lol
One of the best leaders all time. He brought a calmness to any team he was on at the pg position.
Real talk.
You speak nothing but facts..there will never be another BILLUPS..closet thing to him Dam Lillard
That boy was a Dogg

Six consecutive E.C.F between 2003-2008 it was something
He work adidas tho. During the final years 04-07
As a Pistons fan, THIS is the team I miss.
I remember watching this game. That was a good Sunday.
1waytickettopluto: Yeah, it was! I got it on tape!
Same here

That's the old pistons I remember watching they'd always come back at the end :)
My fave team.

Crazy how great these pistons were. Humble, hustle and heart.
Most humble man in the League. "There are a lot of other people deserving of that award too."
love you Big Shot one of DET greats.
The best lineup.. Chauncey, rip, rasheed, ben and prince
pistons forever , we will come back and be great again
XxDeltaProneXx still waiting 😫
Billups should have been mvp 2006
And 2009 in my opinion
r.i.p. coach flip !
These are the Pistons I know not what I see today.
Wow can't believe I found this... I was at this one! Awesome performance by Chauncey!
One of the greatest lineups EVER. Team play, not superstar bs
Their entire starting five were all stars that's worth more than one superstar
My favorite basketball player.

I was at this game. Best starting 5 EVER!!!
This team was not about having a "Superstar" it was team play miss these guys

Nash won MVP with only 14 pts a game but he had Jason Kidd assists and rebounds 13 assists 9 rebounds a game
That Pistons squad was extremely higj IQ💕
damn that was a great comeback win
its obvious that once chauncey left the pistons were never the same. He should have won the MVP that year.
Miss these pistons!!
i was at this game! god i miss these pistons!
Through out the whole game Chauncey was saying "fuck your defense!"
was Brian Grant in this game?well i thought hes playing in the wrong team,i wish he have play in pistons back that time.anyway this pistons was special, thanks for the winning hard basketball memories, for ben, rip, chauncey, sheed, tayshaun,
Billups > Nash
Welcome home chauncey!! Welcome home
These pistons r better than todays heat!
2nd best point guard ever...

goin back to the pistons in 2013
we on thr same tip this year watch
Too bad they didn't play the part where Hubie said (during one of the replays) He said "He shot this one...from Cleveland. I mean just WAY beyond the long line." lol
raja bell traveled his ass off haha
1:30 Rasheed crushed that three
Should have won MVP. But because he was on the Pistons and not a big name player he didn't smh.
I wish I grew up in this era. Now every Detroit team stinks.
Beside PG of 2000s aside from Kidd/Nash
I would love to see this team eat the bucks alive after last year's super soft playoffs
