Today I show you How to set up a digirails DR4018 Decoder. This is the decoder I have shown in other videos. I show you how to set it up on DCC using My ESU ECoS
Hi Richard, I watch your videos and find them to be very informative and to-the-point. So, well done on that. I am new to model railways and have invested in a similar controller as yours i.e. ESU ECoS. Do you have reversing loops in your layout? If so, what RLM do you use or would recommend that can seamlessly switch polarity and throw/close points to the correct position? Also, I wanted to create power districts; what's the best booster that I can buy that's easy on my wallet. The EcoBoost is very expensive. Thanks
Thank you for your comment I haven’t used a RML but planning to in the new layout. For boasters you can only use esu units but in theory you can use the newer bachmann dcc system as a boaster as it has the esu control bus in. I would suggest contacting a esu supplier the 4 I would recommend would be southwest digital, dcc train’s automation (he might now a cheaper solution) digitrains or coastal dcc all these companies have helped me with my dcc set up before
Hi, just watched your video, and i am trying to use one of these units for a similar use to you (16 light outputs) i have got this to work but i want my 16 outputs to be flashing, do you know if this is possible? And if it is how do you do it?
Just curious , as this device is an 8 output device ( for point motor control ) , once you have programmed output port 1 , how do you then select output port 2 for programming ?
Sorry I don’t know but it says in the instructions but I know that the output all act the same so if you set output 1 as a point out put 2’ 3 and 4 will be point as well but if I remember correctly output 5, 6, 7 and out can be different eg lights or different types of points
Hi mr attic i've just watch your video got a bit confused you put a bulb/resistor in port 1 when programming on main track but the instructions ive got say you need the resistor when using the programming track ? plus you started accessory 117 i take it you can start at accessory 1 if you are staring a fresh ...............tony
correction mr attic i miss read the instructions it said 'not programming track" which means main track , so i take it you can do all your setup on the programming track output and then use the main track output to run the features mines going to be four aspect signals .................tony
Hi tony thank you for your comment. The starting address can be what ever you want I used 117 because of my number system. I made the video a few years ago so I can’t remember the details I will watch the video and get back to you in a few days. Feel free to call me Richard.
