This video is an absolute lifesaver, needed a different skin color which woulda meant a whole different model since no skins meaning re-posing, so thank you!
Ok, I’ve noticed that this tutorial video has been getting a lot of attention. So, for anyone who wishes to learn a new method, please read this comment in full. The alternative method to recoloring models is to right click on the model in the taskbar on the left side of the screen, look for “Add Override Materials” and click on that. Once that is done, right click the model again, and mouse over to “show model in” and click on Elemental viewer in the box that appears. This will take you to the different sections of said model. Next, right click on the selected part you want to change and click on “add attribute.” (Note: This next step is simple if you know how to change the textures of your model.) Look for string, and type in “$basetexture,” and in the empty box that appears, type in “white”. This will change the part of the model from its original color to white, giving you the opportunity to change the color to whichever you want. I will do a video on it later. Thank you.
Everything works but is it supposed to turn back to pink when I drag the thing to white? Cuz I don't want that to happen Edit: wait nevermind I had it on a different setting, good tutorial
Every time I tried to make an animatronic blue, it just turns black! I need a different tutorial of how u did it but in a different way!! It’s so struggling to only get black!!
Check out the pinned comment if you would like pointers for what you must do before the coloring. Back then, I forgot to add in the most critical step.
I've managed to be able to color models but I can't find the colors I want. For example I wanted to bright a model more than what I currently can do, is there any way I can do that? Thanks anyways!
To change to the color you want to use, you have to use $basetexture on "string" and type in white in the empty bow. The color will change to complete white and you can change the color to whatever color you want to use.
@@LooseTheGoose I think I know why. I learned another method. First, add in a string attribute and type in $basetexture. And in the empty box that appears, type in white. It will change the color of the model to white. And then you can change the color.
Oh course. For a complete color change, you need to change the textures by clicking "Add Override Materials", "Show in elemental viewer", "model", and find the attributes for the bodygroup you want to change. Once you find them, rightclick on the attribute and find "string" and type in $basetexture. when the model's texture changes, type in white in the box next to basetexture. This will change the color to white, and you will be able to make it any color you want. Hope this helps.
i can only change the model only a few colors for some reason the original is yellow its a model idk if that matters much but i can only do black green or red or in between that, im trying to do white
Is there anyway you could only colour certain parts of the model? E.g with the premade mangle model, I want to change just the colour of her pink chest and snout while leaving the rest white. Is that possible? ~ 💙✨
IPAWS2018 First you right click on the model and click add override materials. Then click show in Elemental viewer, than you’ll find the materials section.

Yes. Before changing the color, right click on the part of the model you want to change and click on string. After that, type into the box “$basetexture”. And when the model has lost its texture, type “white” into the empty box next to it. It will turn white and you can color it anyway you want.
@@khanvgames But when i turn on the lighting and i have a light facing towards the model, it still has a shade of yellow (which is the original color of the model)
@@khanvgames Okay i added a color attribute and a basetexture i typed in white in the box and when the lighting is off it works fine, i have a few lights above the model and the model itself is yellow i changed the color to blue and then i turned on the lighting and then there was still a yellow shade around it.
I've been trying to change the color of the eyes to a model (a splatoon model) and it doesn't seem to ever work I feel like I tried everything but the eyes wont change color, I used $iris and it still wont work
