Who made the call to get Rakim on? Give that person a raise, expeditiously.
Ha ha fo reel.
And exponentially
Shit they need a month off with pay & a $20k advance just for making this happen.
4sho!
@frank 4434 no doubt immediately they earn it
Real ones know about Rakim. The lyrical flow he had..maaaaaaan...dude was smooth.
Still has it. Hes incredible
"Make your eyeball swell"
@Tattle Boad NAH. HE JUST LOOKED MEAN AND COOL.WITH THE BRAIDS AND JEWELS. BUT STILL LEGENDARY..

Scott Van Pelt just became my favorite analyst on ESPN! RAKIM ALLAH SON! 🐐
Scott always shows love for hip hop, he eulogized Phife on this show, always gives hip hop and the culture's artists love.
Indeed
You can tell he a true Hip Hop head ✊️
Scott you just got all the respect in the world from me! RAKIM holds the microphone like a Grudge!!
If ESPN had any guts, they’d have had Dave Zirin on the payroll long ago. He’s another Rakim-head as well. Paid tribute to him on The Collision this morning.

SVP is a real dude for showing respect to the GOD Rakim!
Not a Tupac hater but his mind never spit the rhymes Rakim did....Rakim is a poet above all others, nobody writes in patterns & uses metaphors & rhyme schemes like Rakim......No doubt he is the Master 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🏆🏆🏆🏆
On got my mind made up 2Pac quotes a Rakim Rhyme. Everybody knows what's up.
When 2Pac dissed Nas on Against all Odds he said "you sound like Rakim...Check out my Melody!" like he knew Nas was trying to clone that Style.

SVP did a great job in this interview. Thanks for this ESPN. It was a breath of fresh air!
paid in full is one of the greatest hip hop albums ever made
I say the Greatest with It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back the second best.
Yes it was! If I recall it dropped either December 1986 or January 1987. Unsure. I just know I entered my freshman year in high school 1987 and that was my first cassette tape I ever bought at our high school school store! And when it became a CD in the 90s I bought it again and now they stopped making CD players in cars 2017 onward, it's in my You Tube Playlist. Saw him in concert here in Detroit in 2017 at Chene Park with Run and EPMD. Godfathers of Hip Hop! 😁
33 years since that album and still can't figure out why they cut the line "I must have got you too hot and burned off your wings"
The greatest Lyricist ever. Sugar Ray Robinson of Hip Hop.
No disrespect I like rakim hip hop forefathers but lets not forget Big L, lupe fiasco and andre 3000.
@@DatsjoeYT True that. The reason I say Ra is the greatest Lyricist two reasons... one where he ranked amongst his contemporaries during the golden era Kool G Rap, Kane, LL, KRS, The Doc, Ice Cube, Scarface... and second who he influenced. AZ, Nas, Raekwon, Ghostface ,Black Thought, Eminem, Prodigy. His rhymes between 88/90 were way before it's time.

That's why the older heads must expose the young ones to the masters. Otherwise, they won't know. And the young ones must be receptive, which is hard to instill within them. Every generation likes what it likes.
@@BrotherApexx just reread my comment
@@BrotherApexx I agree BUT I find it different now in this generation because in all honesty lyrics today are shit compared to the lyricist from our era....even the beats are better from our era....Rakim & the real lyricist from the late 80's & 90's can re release all there albums from the past without any change, just re shoot new videos for them & the youth should be amazed....we liked Rakim, Kane,Wutang, Guru, Jeru the damaja, Tribe, OC, Ice Cube ,Naughty by Nature, DeLa,LL, Queen Latifah, Biggie,Tupac, Blackmoon & bootcamp clik, Mobb Deep & many others in our generation because they were better lyrically than the generation before us like Fatboys,Grandmaster flash, Cold crush & etc...because those dudes rhyme schemes were so elementary & basic But Rakim came & changed it....BUT today the rhymes have gone back to the elementary state.....
