Within Tombs of Amascut, in the Scabaras puzzle room, you are able to cast Stun (and similar lower leveled curses) on the pillars to one of the puzzles, allowing you to get 540k, assuming perfect tick usage.
You will need magic accuracy low enough to splash, and either high enough gear to tank scarabs until the Ring of Suffering can kill them, or enough attention to reset into the corner where the scarab cannot get you. A Regen Bracelet can help this as well.
An alternative requiring no Ring of Suffering or Regeneration Bracelet involves activating the pillar room while it is in the second set by solving the puzzle diagonally (kitty corner/catty corner) to the pillar room, but not solving the pillar room and bypassing it. Then, after completing the matching puzzle at the end, the pillars remain active, and are able to be splashed on without any need to worry about the scarab.

what works for me every time i do this, (3 times now, 6 hours each) make sure the pillar puzzle is atleast in the 2nd level of challenges, bordering the color match ending puzzle. doesnt matter if on the right or left door. i then finish all 3 puzzles except for the pillar puzzle, then i finish the room by completing the color match puzzle, which despawns the scarabs and still allows you to cast on the pillar. no safe spot required.
It doesnt even matter where the obelisk spawns. As long as u finish 3 puzzles + the last one to make everything despawn
What do you do to not get logged out? After i while i always end up on the "you were disconnected from the server" message.

To ensure scarab can’t get into your room. Ensure obelisk is in second room and solve the puzzle in front of them. This keeps the door blocked and the scarab will not go through and Aggro on you. Figured this out getting 99 mags this weekend with zero deaths.
So you solve the last puzzle then come back? Will that still work
@@leafs33334 i didnt bother, just solve the puzzle infront of obelisk room, squeeze through crack and jump across back to obelisk. The door should be closed. Never tried completing it and coming back

I do not want to keep these to myself, I want people to play the game I love dearly. If a method gets patched, so be it, but I would like a digital record of at least all the bugs I can find, so someone beyond me will be able to study it and maybe find something even more interesting down the road with future updates. We have enough self centered players withholding strategy and mechanics, I think we will survive if I document a few before their erasure. Thank you.
It has been in the game since they fixed the 1 tick CoX crabs splashing (1+ months), saw a vid on it right after they fixed that one.

Tried this on 8/25 and the scarabs were able to get to me. Fix for this is solving the entire room while avoiding the pillar puzzle. Once you complete the room the scarabs stop spawning. So that means you can do it on any layout as well!

Are you saying to do one puzzle in each row (skipping the pillar) then going back? Or finishing 3 puzzles in the 2x2?
@@Saffat-Hasan Yes, but to make the pillar interactable you need to do the puzzle before it. So you'll need to do one extra puzzle

Hey rocks keep falling on me breaking auto cast and dealing damage, never done to a before am I doing something wrong?
You need to be in splashing gear, so you need -64 magic accuracy or lower, you need to always splash or the pillars will reactivate.
This seems amazing!! Never done TOA before, but got the quest done. Is it as simple as in this video to get to that spot or can stuff change?

it's actually not this simple. i've been trying it, never been here before, and the rooms are constantly different than what's shown in this very short video. for someone not familiar with TOA, this method is not possible. i have no idea how to get the set up that they got. Also when i click the pillar, i only attack it once, not continuing to auto cast. so it's either been patched, or i'm doing it wrong snd following the video doesn't help.
@@LL-cm1wzyou leave the raid. Click the door you went back from, which will leave the whole thing. You have to remake a party, and repeat. Keep doing that until the room is in the NE corner.

Pillar puzzle HAS to be the in the same position as video. The other pillar puzzle areas prevent you from getting behind the pillar, which makes the scarab a lot more likely to attack.
Currently splashing fire strike myself as it provides very afk 69k xp/hr for only 18k gp/hr. Casts are 1 per tick, so 6000 casts per hour.
Paring it with the method to avoid the 20 minute combat timer. Start typing a message, put something heavy on spacebar, and hover cursor over a spot where an NPC occasionally will walk. Doing this makes sure you keep attacking for full 6 hours.
edit: Spot isnt really afk enough actually for 6 hour sessions. The scarab will eventually see you, and will deal ~45ish damage before ring of suffering can kill it back. Regen bracelet and range tank gear wasnt enough to keep my alive longer than an hour or so.

Still working like a charm. Make sure you get the same room as shown in the video. Scarab will path down and attack about 2 times every hour and you will be logged out after 5 min of afk
Use logout timer plug in on runelite to change to 25 mins afk

Scarab wont spawn and it doesnt matter where the pillars spawn. Just complete the room and attack the pillar one time before completing the room and you will have an easier time.
make sure to reset the raid if the pillars dont spawn back left and always do the right puzzle first. i needed like 20+ raids to get the correct pillar spawn but it still works

@@minQkel I've just been healing / recoiling the scarabs but I finally got the layout seen in the video where you can go around the pillar. I thought it had been patched out. Turns out you just have to reset a whole bunch more times lol

Yes it could theoretically, but 90% of players fall into the two extremes of afk and high intensity. Most people aren't going to want to manage the timer of alching and splashing to maintain a middle rate between 20 minutes afk and 1t cursing. This video is not a splashing guide, there's probably more ways to optimize the middle xp rates, but I'm archiving the two main uses here.

Yes, the problem to overcome with this method is the scarab. It will always spawn, whether you solve a puzzle or not. The reason we use the 2nd set of rooms for pillars is because the scarab will spawn at the start of the room, and it's not able to path and find you except after a long time, because when it's in the north spot, you can fully hide from it. When it does find you, the ring of recoil is used to kill it, and the high range defense gear gives you buffer to survive until it dies of recoil. Then, you regenerate the health back before it comes to attack you again.

@@DantesLimbo i found a way to semi AFK and not rely on the rotation of the room. Bought full justiciar, with granite shield and peg boots and obby cape. With this setup the scarab almost never hit on you because of the high ranged defence bonus. Using this method you can always semi afk. After 15 minutes eat up your health and your good to go again.

How do you do this with stun?
Get in the same spot and set up, click the stun spell onto the pillar over and over. It is not afk, you need to manually click for the higher xp rate.

hey is this fire surge or fire wave, also when doing curse spells do we have to keep clicking back and forth? sorry im a bit new
Fire Surge is 303k XP/Hr in the video, and I use it as an upper mark for xp gain, because it's the highest level commonly splashed spell, but in the video, I use Fire Wave as I don't have a surplus of wrath runes, but I do have a large stack of blood runes. Since this method works 1t at a time, to find your xp an hour, you just do 3600 (seconds in an hour) / 0.6 (seconds in a tick), which gives us 6000 casts an hour. Multiply 6k by whatever experience you get for splashing, and that's the xp an hour you will get.
For curse spells, there currently isn't a weapon that will let you auto cast curses, so you do need to manually click that one. It offers a higher xp/hr mark, but at the cost of much higher click intensity, versus the 25 minute afk time you can have with the autocasting method.

Does this only work with this specific set up
No, the set up I am showing is what I found to be the best set up. If you don't have ring of recoil, the scarab will eventually kill you, or you will need some way to handle the incoming damage. To make the Ring of Suffering work more effectively, I use high range defense armor to lower the ranged accuracy of the scarab, and a Regeneration Bracelet (paired with my hitpoints cape of accomplishment) to overcome the damage that would happen. The scarab also has trouble finding you with this layout, so you have a long period of time where it can't attack you, and when it does it kills itself, and after it dies you just regenerate the health. The only hard requirements are Beneath Cursed Sands, and the ability to splash a spell, if you don't splash, boulders will fall.

Still working but the scarab does manage to start attacking you eventually (was after 2 hours for me) - easiest way to deal with it is just take an item off and kill it quick then you’re good to go again

just set it to resizable mode, you can hold alt and drag your inventory. no plugin.

@@traderwiz you need to use your Fkeys that you have binded to the spellbook and then use mousekeys for clicking. you then just alternate the fkey and mousekeys. It's a little difficult, but once you get your rhythm its very simple.
@@traderwiz What I ended up doing for like 6 hours is spamming between shift (key remapping set f6 to shift) and left click twice per tick. Just get into a good cycle of shift,leftclickshiftleftclick with stun hovered over the pillar. Before you change shift to your f6 key, set the left click action of the pillar to walk here. When you get situated, you can't get hit by boulders anymore, because the manual cast action isn't altered.

It's still working. You need to have the negative magic accuracy to splash, so -64 or lower. Otherwise, you will always hit and spawn the incorrect choice boulder.

If that's your aim, sure.
However, that's still 5 tick. This is a 1 tick method, meaning you cast spells many times quicker. Perfect for getting rid of some of your more useless mind runes
How much xp is it for the other fire spells? I'm an ironman with 75 mage so might use fire strike or above.

Take the base cast xp and multiply by 6000 to grt xp/hr

Yeah but you still can do it anyway as long as the scarab doesn't get to you, though there is one problem - you will get logged out after like 5mins or something by doing this so it seems you need to do the spacebar method like you would in NMZ (press enter, put something heavy on your spacebar and leave it like that so that the game would register as you doing some sort of action).
Edit: nvm, it still logs me out after ~5mins ;d Guess the only option is to check the game every 4-5mins before it logs you out.
It has not been changed as of right now. I replicated it exactly as I showed in the video just now. There's no pots in the best case room.
@@DantesLimbo There were pots or other crap which don't let you walk behind the pillar every run I tried but you still can splash on the side of it and if you are lucky the scarab doesn't go to your room for a long time.
The main problem for me is that it just logs me out due to "inactivity" after ~4-5mins so I have to click once every 5 mins or so to not get logged out. I get 250k xp/hr with fire wave, though it sucks your blood runes dry so damn quick ;d
@@GTRaijin Can't remember which plugin but you can change that to 25min
The plugin to increase it to 25 minutes is "Logout Timer", and it only works on PC Runelite and not base client or mobile. They might have other means I'm unaware of.

Looks like it just got hot fixed within the last few hours, had 2 accounts splashing and left and re-entered on one of the accounts and it says "This device won't fuction yet". got 99 on the other account and then left and re-entered to see if it affected both accounts and it did.
You need to finish all the puzzles to be able to hit em. Just tried again. First time i only completed 3 and got the message "This device won't fuction yet". Tried one time to complete all 4 puzzles so the light shows on them. And it worked.

@@roanvangorp7848 The room with obelisks must be on the north side and in the second puzzle room. Only there will the safespot spawn. Even with the safespot, the scarab can eventually find you and start attacking you, you can just kill it with melee attack and it will respawn and you will have afk time again.
I think they patched just tried it... every time I hit a pillar a boulder would come down no matter where im standing

Do you have -64 or lower magic bonus with your equipment on? You need to splash on the target, which with magic means you cast the spell, but the effect doesn't actually take place. In game, you can type ::wiki Splashing. That will bring up a page more about what is happening mechanically here. I would link the wiki to you, but youtube doesn't deem that a safe link. If you have -64 accuracy, and your staff is on autocast, and you still have to click repeatedly, there might be another issue at hand.
