Hey Jim! I know you’re a lawyer and probably don’t want to spend anytime giving your knowledge away for free, but I think this is worth the shot of me asking. I’m 21, I used to work with my gpa since 18 at his own small business, he fixes windshields in cars by filling in the chips/cracks in with a resin. I live in South Texas where our roads are made of caliche and tar so repairs is in high demand down here so you don’t have to constantly replace them. Anyway, beginning of this year my gpa has officially handed the business to me as he had a stroke and isn’t able to work anymore. I’ve noticed tho he was NOT running things 100% properly. When I say this is a business I mean it’s a rinky dink shop, I mean we have a great customer community built now and we’re one of the highest rated in the whole town, however my grandpa only did this as extra income on top of his social security, so he just did what he had to do to work. Now that it’s in my hands, I have plans on expanding the place, but he doesn’t even remember if we have copyrighted our name, we don’t have an LLC, and he’s never had any business insurance. In fact he just finished paying off a fine I believe because he wasn’t even paying state sales tax because he didn’t even know that was a thing. Anyways, so my reasoning for this is to ask what are the steps, from 1 to finished, I would need to take to make sure I have everything proper and legal at this business that’s now mine? Like I said now I’m running it and I have plans for it, we’re pulling in anywhere from $4k-$6k a month ,this place truly has potential and I don’t want it to get ruined over legal bull crap. If you have a playlist where I should start I’d greatly appreciate the info 🙏🙏🙏
