  • In this lesson, I am going to explain the difference b/w Alif and Hamza. I also am going to explain why sometimes the tiny hamza sign is written above the Alif and other time it is written under it.

    I am a Turk living in Libya. I don't have any libyan friends here yet. That's why I'm learning classical Arabic online. but there is a lot of difference between classical arabic and libya arabic, i have a hard time speaking outside

      Yes that's true. Dialects are way different than the classical and modern standard Arabic

    Small question here.
    Sometimes we don't explicitly see the hamza our Alif, however it has fatha or Kasrah over it, so do we call it Hamza?
    Ex. In Azaab-un-Aleem which means Painful Punishement where Aleem starts with Fatha over Alif, so do we call this Alif as Hamza?
    Please explain, Jazak Allah

    • @LearnArabicwithTahir
      @LearnArabicwithTahir  4 месяца назад

      Yes brother the alif in aleem is hamza because there is a harakah (Fatha in this specific case) over it.

    Assalamu Alaikum brother. Jazakallah Khair for this video. Please next time can you explain in more detail the difference in sound between aleef and hamza? They sound the same in your video. My friend told me aleef can be elongated whereas hamza is just one haraqat. Thank you so much.

    how do we know if it is fatha or dhamma

  • @dandjinga1
    @dandjinga1 2 года назад +1

    ok thanks but how do we then know if the hamza on top means it's a fatha or damma?

    • @LearnArabicwithTahir
      @LearnArabicwithTahir  2 года назад +1

      No, you will have to decide that yourself by looking at the context. Most of the times it is fatha, but you will have to look at the grammatical rules and context to decide between fath and dhamma.

      @@LearnArabicwithTahir allright.. I mean, i'm new at learning arabic by reading/writting it. However, the thing i fear is that, as a stranger, i don't know ANY arabic word yet. So how will I be supposed to read in future the texts without fatha damma and kasra? It seems impossible, like, i have to play a game of guessing words everytimes? It seems not convenient to learn for a beginner who don't know any word..

    • @LearnArabicwithTahir
      @LearnArabicwithTahir  2 года назад

      @@dandjinga1 if you are learning how to read Arabic, then there are booklets for that purpose that have kasras, fathas, dhammas already placed on words to help you read... But if you are planning on learning and understanding Arabic, then you will have to study the Arabic Grammar and that's the only way to be able to read Arabic without the fath/ksra/dhamma... And it is easy, it is not that difficult... It just seems difficult but itsnt...you can learn Arabic in an year easily.
