    After part 1, you all made it clear… changing just the shirt wasn’t enough. So this time, I called in a professional stylist to completely overhaul my “date night” style. Rachel came over to roast my closet, take me shopping, and teach me what really makes an outfit work, scientifically. But as a twist, I secretly went shopping myself the day before to create my own outfits. And our familiar panel of male and female judges had to guess whose outfits were better, mine or hers.

    I love how Tejas is so brave to put himself under a whole world of scrutiny. And everyone absolutely slams him, yet he doesn't get shut down. He shares the information with everyone because a lot of people don't know how to put together a great outfit. This just might be the true science of attractiveness.

    pro tip from a fashion student : don't take your friends word as gospel. I'm not saying they have bad taste or anything, but things like saying "you're not that guy" on the full denim fit or encouraging "simplicity" and safety are not really good pieces of advice. Fashion is an art, and the only way to master an art, is practing and experimenting. Everything also depends on what you're going for. Again that denim outfit was nowhere near as bad as it was rated, it was actually one of my overall favorites , but I can see how, viewed from a different lense, as a look for someone who isn't into more "out there" fashion, it can seem out of place. Just remember, nobody can be objectively right about your style except you.

    • @xiuwenlee5208
      @xiuwenlee5208 7 months ago +131

      Totally agree! Getting it "wrong" is a part of finding out what you really like wearing, and people getting into fashion should embrace experimentation, as you say. I know it's just the way he decided to structure the video, but in real life you should be the one with the most input on your own personal style (it's yours, after all!), and it's something so subjective, it kind of defies being judged and scored so straightforwardly. It is an entertaining video though, and I appreciate all the effort that went into it.
      (also: I disagree with some stuff the stylist said about 'dressing for your body type'; when it comes down to it, any body can and should wear any shape of thing they want to. She was probably oversimplifying for the sake of clarity, but saying short people shouldn't wear oversized clothes, for example, is very limiting and discourages creativity!! And life's too short for that!)

      Yeah, I loved that outfit, except those shoes without socks is a felony crime. 2/10, but could be a 6/10 with different shoes, and for casual wear, not a date, it could get 8/10 with different shoes.

    The results should be announced at the end, not after each guess. Since there are 6 outfits and 3 by each, it can heavily affect the guesses just by process of elimination. And by confirming a stylist outfit, you can learn her style and make better guesses after.

    I’ve worked in fashion for 20 years and I can say - don’t be boring..you have your bright personality and you are handsome man. So show it. Don’t ask opinions from people around you. With your face - don’t be afraid of color and choose what you like..not what you see on pictures in internet. Just be bold with your choices. Choose what your soul desires. Like that you can develop your personal style. Things will come together. Do what makes you happy ❤

    Rachel did a really amazing job and I loved her tips.
    Details can really make or break an outfit and the 2 different monochromatic outfits here show that perfectly. The biggest takeaway is how the women all rated Rachel's monochromatic outfit a 10 while it was a mixed bag with the guys. Women notice details and intentionality! They all noticed the textures of the fit while 2 of the guys were lost on why it was working.
    Why your attempt at monochromatic failed is not only because of the fit of the clothes itself, but it was all singular in tone and texture.
    As you learned, style is about intention. Taking all your influences, likes, dislikes, understanding of your body, and expressing that through your clothing.
    This was a great follow-up video! Excited to see where your fashion journey goes from here because it never ends. It's always evolving.

    To be fair, at 27:00 It was obvious to be the stylist only because logic dictates that because he put 2 of his at the start, It's impossible for him to put his own as the 4th one as well since because he reveals the result, They will automatically know it's the stylist for the last two (Which would ruin the voting). Thus it has to be the stylist.

    I have loved fashion since I was a kid, I commend you for putting yourself out there. And to do it INTENTIONALLY in front of your friends is crazy.
    I do think you should ignore your friends though, the way you learn is by doing so them wanting more simplistic outfits doesn’t mean the outfits weren’t good, and not to be rude but they were all dressed very similarly, none of them looked like they could have done what you did. Except for grace, she looks like she doesn’t just look at Pinterest, she joins in.

      @lissamu6537 Definitely. From what i've seen online, people in Western Europe generally have a different style compared to the US. For example, basically no one in Europe would ever leave the house in sweatpants, but it seems to be very common in the US. And in the big cities like Berlin, London or Paris, you will see all kinds outfits with interesting silhouettes.

    my problem with the judging process is that you tell the judges if the outfit was assembled by a stylist or you BEFORE they give out the actual rating of the outfit which may interfere with the points given to the outfit. if anything you should swap the order in which you ask the judges for opinions so that they first give out the points and then they guess stylist/you, although ideally you somehow do it all at once but i can see why it could be difficult.

    A monochromatic look is all dependent on the silhouette of the whole look and how it falls on your body. Your stylist did a great job! The biggest half of fashion is knowing your own body and how certain pieces fit you. Because you can’t just slap on the same great fit on a different person. It just won’t work that way

    After going shopping with my friends, I came to this conclusion that 70% of it depends on people's taste, an outfit that looks perfect to somebody may look ugly or out of style to somebody else, so don't be obsessed with what others think of it, you should like your outfit and feel comfortable in it. That's it,

    I only saw the top part of the denim outfit at first and I loved it! I was crushed when I saw the bottom, but I still think maybe a pair of white sneakers instead of the Birkenstocks could have elevated it a bit. Honestly, I didn't notice till you pointed it out and, ya, idk if it's something I would rock, I think it's fun that even the stylist is pushing the boundaries on her look in small ways. And given the results, I think it shows confidence in her own abilities. While I don't understand it, she clearly fucks with it, and that's cool. Also, neapolitan ice cream is a top 5 ice cream, and her look kinda fits that vibe for me. So, automatically 10/10.

    Tejas, before choosing clothes, consider colors that complement your skin tone. The right colors can enhance your natural features, while less flattering shades may make your skin appear dull or washed out. COLOR THEORY plays an important role in fashion, as certain tones can highlight undertones in your skin-whether warm, cool, or neutral-and create a more balanced overall look.

    • @trev1463
      @trev1463 6 months ago +2

      I love color analysis but it’s also important to understand the goals of the system a color analyst uses. Some aim for harmony with features, and others aim to compliment the skin tone and it isn’t the same thing.
      The history of color analysis is rooted in white, western features. I believe it can be applied to everyone, but it’s important to make sure your analyst is familiar with working with your skintone and is clear beauty standards they are aiming for - these can be different in different cultures!

    Hey Tejas! Great video as always man. As someone who really enjoys these discussions around fashion and who has been receiving guidance on outfits from various girl-friends over the years, I wanted to give you a couple tips. In my experience, the hard and fast rules like no black with navy etc, aren’t actually that important, as long as you’re getting the fit of the clothes right. Proportions are everything. You don’t want to drown in a shirt but you don’t want to look like you’re wearing a baby tee either. Another thing is, as cliche as it is, skinny jeans are far more difficult to style with the same variety of shirts, whereas if you have a nice pair of decently baggy jeans, in black and blue, you will be able to wear them with just about anything. I also think personally that the whole everyday shoe (sneaker) with jeans look is a little strange. Invest in some Dr. Martens maybe, I think they’d suit you. Regarding jewellery, the general rule is usually that gold compliments darker skin tones, but to be honest, seeing how that watch looked on you, I think you should definitely invest in some simple, silver jewellery. I think it’s so easy to wear gold as a dude and have it come off as a little douchey, but silver is almost always elegant and understated if the pieces are simple enough. Also, I recommend styling your outfit, pants first. Pick a nice pair of trousers, find a shirt that contrasts complements the colour of them, and then do the same with the shoes. I think many studies have been done on what the most attractive outfit for a man to wear is, according to women, and the choice is almost always a nice pair of blue jeans, a white t-shirt that fits well, and some simple black or white shoes. With the tee, experiment with buying one that drops a little closer to your waistline. That will not only make you look taller because less of your legs will be covered, but it also will avoid you ever having the dressed by your mother look that some of the outfits did (no offence, style is difficult, and most of us know much less about it than we’d like to admit). I’d love to see another video with the stylist tbh, one in which you get a little more adventurous.

      I was bummed the stylist didn’t address that. I think he is probably a deep winter and he needs more saturated colors. Minus the denim outfit, all others were too dull on him. It’s also why that gold chain ruined every look it was with. Just adjusting the color on a lot of these would have gone long way.
      Edit: the denim and monochromatic blue were more in his color.

      Here they have something easy to put on and off the mannequins, when they are in-between two dressings and they dare not leave them naked. This was the in-between stuff. Would be here in Western Europe for sure. If he wants to look Mediterranean, he's going to have to give it some harder try. None of these score well here.

    Fit one is a classic but the low crotch threw the leg to waist ratio off. 14:25 if you imagine the waist of the pants higher 3/4 of the body instead of the current 1/2 the outfit it would work. Also, if you have a smaller pant cuff and a wider waist like tejas is styling it will also throw off the ratio as your inverting the natural silhouette of the body. In terms of fabric weight is fine I actually think she just didn’t know how to articulate why this classic outfit wasn’t working.

    I hard disagree with the score of all blue outfit that you got from the mannequin. I think it looked really cool, nice silhouette, very chic. The one the stylist picked that got the first set of 10’s from the girls, I thought was boring and lacked personality. Your black tee with the chain and light washed jeans was nice, simple but still had personality. Idk, I think you need different judges. As someone who follows fashion closely for fun, I prefer a little more personality than something that looks like it came from a stitch fix box that a 50 year old man would wear.

    • @dajunkers6174
      @dajunkers6174 6 months ago

      I disagree with your opinion (no hate). For me the mannequin monochrome failed in fit, wayyyy too baggy. Also the shirt was not a good fit. I well fitting linen button down with a couple unbuttoned would have been far better as it keeps a sophisticated look while being airy. The monochrome by the stylist is objectively a good outfit because of fit and texture. It had two textures linen and cotton, as opposed to Tejas 1 texture of linen in his monochrome, and it looked put together. Tejas mannequin outfit aligns more with style trends than timeless style. Look at Daniel Craig’s James Bond, simple yet clean outfits result in praise by tons of people all because of good fit, better fabrics, and attention to texture.

    • @Elgrandsanto
      @Elgrandsanto 6 months ago

      @dajunkers6174I agree that it is a clean and timeless look, however that’s what puts me off of it. Like I said, lack of personality. Feels very safe and just lacks the substance that makes it go from a good outfit to a great one. All personal preference but I think a look like that only really works for someone a lot older than tejas.

    It was obvious which outfits were styled by who and I feel like it really influenced the ratings.
    For example, I was quite surprised by the hate for fit 1, bc I actually liked it! And in my opinion, it leaned into that "european summer" style mentioned in the video.
    And opposite to a lot of people.. I'm not the biggest fan of fit 3, idk if it's the pants or what. The color really suits you (like the shirt from fit 5), so as separate pieces - they’re great. But as a whole outfit... not for me lol
