Taking a Newborn's Temperature

If your baby feels warm, take the temperature with a rectal thermometer. A fever is a temperature of 100.4° Fahrenheit or above. Call your doctor immediately if the baby has a fever. Babies’ immune systems are not fully mature at this age and they need a full evaluation by a doctor when there is fever.
