    At 3:52, I think what Adriene meant should be "Since P(tails and 6) is not equal to zero, these two events are not mutually exclusive" instead of "Since P(tails or 6) is not equal to zero,..."

    Adriene looks more confident since the economics crash course with Mr Clifford. I really enjoyed this presentation; she talks slower and is less much tense. Thank you for doing what you do, you are the reason decided to study economics!

    How does probability relate to eclectic theoretical orientation?

  • @jameshan6140
    @jameshan6140 4 года назад

    I think that when calculating the probability of P(A or B), we shouldn't calculate the probability of P(A and B) at all. So I think the formula should be like this: P(A or B) = P(A) + P(B) - 2P(A and B). That way, we can calculate the probability of only A or B occurring. The video says P(A or B) = P(A) + P(B) - P(A and B). Maybe our definition of the word 'or' is different? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

    • @MicahHenning

      The whole point of statistics and probability is to make informed decisions about uncertainty. If something is certain, you no longer need probability theory.

    If you want to know the probability of hitting a jackpot on a slotmachine, 100 games ( I know, just a number - still) is not a sufficient sampling size. Try 100.000.000 games, that is what it's usually tested with. Source: I work in the industry.

    • @fatsquirrel75
      @fatsquirrel75 6 лет назад +1

      Valimdal Flammenhand given the average person has to pay to play, I think 100 is a manageable trial. 100 million is not.
      100 plays would give you a pretty decent estimate of your odds.

    • @Victorious_Reads
      @Victorious_Reads 6 лет назад

      fatsquirrel75 100 plays are nowhere close - Most jackpots or Major wins only trigger once every 10.000 games(simplified, it has a Lot more depth than that)
      I'm only trying to explain that you can't make yourself a reasonably accurate picture of a slotgame in 100 played games - the sampling size is Way too small. You have no Way - as a normal Person - to get a decent sampling size.
