  • First to Horning briefly, before Ludham.
A couple of near misses getting under the bridge..... people forget they need to duck down. Still lots of people about.
I saw online, a picnic boat got stuck under Potter Heigham bridge today. I’ve put a screenshot of it on my NEW Facebook page 😀

Thank you again for an entertaining video.
It seemed the bigger and grander the boat, the more risk people took at Ludham when going too fast!
Fair Viscount has a square hull shape which is very difficult to drive away from a wall without someone pushing off at the bow or having a bow thruster.
Also enjoyed the Cantley Video and the pictures of RUST and the new TRAIN.

Thank you so much, I’m glad you enjoyed them.
You’re right ..... the bigger the boat ....!!
Poor people on Fair Viscount. They managed in the end though. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Two methods for leaving a side-on mooring.
1, As demonstrated perfectly by the skipper of Fair Viscount. Turn the wheel to port (away from the quay), forward gear, boat proceeds, then the starboard side of the stern hits the quay, bounces the boat back to exactly where he started from. Repeat a number of times until you get away.
2, Turn the wheel fully to starboard (towards the quay), a brief burst in forward gear. (the boat will not move forward, but the stern will kick out into the river) without moving the wheel, give a short burst of reverse gear. You may have to repeat this forward and reverse without moving the wheel, until the boat is safely in the middle of the river, and well clear of the quay. Then wheel to port, move slowly forward and straighten up the wheel, cruise to the next pub and moor up again.

      Fabulous, thank you 🛥
There’s so much to learn, I think people do well considering they only have the boat a week. 😀

that fair viscount fair made me laugh trying to get iff the moorings at horning, i think it must have been his first day lol , & those guys on the top deck of those big boats had a close shave at ludham , that could have been nasty if they'd hit their heads .
