These are really underrated athletes. They do all still don't get that recognition.

Complicated specialty as well. What you can gain in some disciplines (taking muscles for example), you lose in others.
so underrated! the decathletes and heptathletes do outstanding stuff and some can even compete in the individual contests
decathlon champions are considered "world greatest athlete" so how is that underrated?
The decathlon athletics are the real supermen.
It takes a lot to excel at decathlon, and Mayer truly triumphed! Brilliant athletes! The lot of them! 💪💪

I never really watched Decathlon, so when I was actively watching the world championships it really stood out to me. I loved to root for all the athletes, and seeing some excel in for example running disciplines, while others were better in high jump or throwing was super interesting. The pole valut was the most anxious one for me. I hoped that everyone could at least get one height. Great competition
By the way Mayer just get back on track running 2 monthes ago because of ankle injury, he came in Eugene without any race made in 2022, not in the best shape we've seen, his races time weren't what he does average and his shot put was really disappointing (14.98 were he throws 16m50 average in decathlon = 100pts difference )... BUT 8816 points !!! Even not in his best shape he scores over 8800pts which would have made him 9th performer in history... Hope to see him in great shape for 2024 Olympics, he can do 9000 pts more than once again for sure!

He failed his first two attempts in the starting height of pole vault, but after that he was unstoppable

In reality when we think about, the real full athletes men and women they are the ones who practice the Decathlon!
Because they are the only ones capable of practicing and chaining in just 2 days 7 Athletics events for women and 10 for men!
And the best men in these great Athletes is French! It is "La cerise sur le gâteau" for the French fan that I am. ^^

The athletes compete over 10 events (deca comes from the Greek for ten). The ten events are split over two days and are:
DAY 1: 100 metres, long jump, shot put, high jump, 400 metres
DAY 2: 110 metres hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin, 1,500 metres
Each athlete is given a score for their performance on each event and the winner is the athlete with the most points at the end of the 10 events.

His total was more than Damians winning total from Gotzis and he is the WR holder, if they're both at their best he wins so the only reason Damien was consided favourite is due to Kevin being plagued by injuries these last few years and despite that, he still wins
No Mayer's second day is insane and Warner is better at day 1 so it would have been close
Warner is spectacular but like le Page he needs a better pv. Mayer got to 8816 despite bombing hard in the shot put and running a mid 110mh, no one except Eaton has had this kind of margin for error in recent years
