In this Revit tutorial we're going to cover foundation plans. How to create the foundation plan view, how to model the foundation walls, how to model the footings and what information you need to show on your foundation plans.
This video is a free lesson from a paid professional Revit course. Check out hyperfinearchi... for enrollment details and more free Revit tutorials.

Thank you for explaining view range so well! 👏🏼eureka 😄
this is one of the most accurate, professional and powerful foundation plan tutorial. This is exactly what the building department expect to see arch engineer submitting.
thank you so much!
Thanks Jeremy!
Hi, thank you for the course. I've just have bought it :)
My only question is: why you don't set your view template? In my opinion that would be the most efficient way instead of using DL.
Regards from Munich
Thanks for signing up! I don’t fully understand your question. Detail Lines are used for drafting and guides, I used them to help locate my foundation walls. View Templates are for styling a view consistently. You can email me if that wasn’t what you were asking about.
@@HyperfineArchitecture Ohh sorry, right,! I actually meant Underlay, why you don't simply set Underlay?
@@karambaw that's an option, I just don't like using it! Also I don't think it works that great for trying to view levels above where you are working. It's a better option for looking below.
Would you still go with “core of the exterior” if you have the brick on walls? How would you create staggered foundation with exterior partial brick or siding?
Yes, I’d still do the same. Staggered walls can be annoying, but I usually do one wall then split it whenever the foundation jogs so I can control the top and bottom constraints separately. Could also just do edit profile and probably a few other options I’m not thinking of.
Great tutorial! I prefer using Underlay in View Properties in order to see and draw over what is upside instead of those copy/paste lines. It is faster and more accurate.
Thank you! Yeah I should get better at using underlays, I just don't like how they look! Also sometimes they don't work great when viewing levels above?
the tutorial is very goog. however I was trying to copy the outline we drew but it is not working. the control, shift and v combination is not working for me
Is there any other command i can use to copy
That one is a custom shortcut, so it will work if you use my shortcuts. You can also find this on the modify tab under Paste. Use the dropdown.
Ben, can you provide the site from where we purchased your videos?

Great Tutorial! However I have a glitch. I have brought in all of my detail lines to align my walls to in the foundation plan. When drawing my first wall.....it will not appear. First floor level set at 0' 0". TO Ftg set at -3' 9". Checked VG and walls are turned on. View range set top -3 2", Cut plane -3 6", Bottom and Depth Unlimited. Prompt says: 'Check active view parameters, visibility settings, plan regions and settings.
I would make a new level for TO Ftg. Use that to set the base constraint for the footing and to create the foundation plan. Setting cut plans at negative values can sometimes lead to problems, as you are seeing.
It's also a good idea to check all the errors Revit gives you. You might also check the phases of the project. And you can go to a 3D view or section to make sure those walls are actually there and if they are, check if they are joined to the floor above or not.
Great tutorial however I came here looking for the exact same process, but on an uneven topo surface. So if I cut a section anywhere in the foundation, my footing would show below grade and my foundation wall height would vary. Any vids available on that topic?
Thank You
I would go in an elevation view (with topo turned on) and use reference planes to mark the locations you want to step the footing and/or top of foundation wall. Then go in plan and use Split Line to split the foundation wall at the reference planes. Then just use the offset top and bottom to follow grade as you want. I don’t think I have a video of this, but the sample file that comes with the pro course has a detached garage with a stepped footing.
this is a great tutorial at all..if you pls upgrade your audio
his audio is fine lmao
