The movie is beautifull is more a story of a man who loves to make people smile and his journey. The director, writer and main actor Raj Kapoor, put some things of his own life experiences for the story of this movie

This movie is based on the life of Manusha. Human life is like a circus. The three stages of life are childhood, youth and old age.
Back when this movie was made only time anyone saw a clown with that make up, was in a circus show. A clown would be doing silly antiques, seemingly making a fool of himself. In this movie too he works for a circus troupe. Indians didn't grow up on horror movies with clown as a villain.
As for his romantic interest- it was mostly one sided crush. First one was his teacher and she was married happily already. She saw him just as a student. Last one friend zoned him when she figured out his interest in her. I don't remember what happened with second one. Theme is "show must go on". His own life is rather sad and lonely but his job is make everyone else laugh. He needs that mask.

The second one ditched him to marry a rich guy Rajendra kapoor
And the last one did not friend zone him. She was Russian and went back to Russia
@@PriyaK-cu1fz I distinctly seem to recall the Russian girl telling him that she was not interested in him romantically after what he took her to see his mom. She had to look up the dictionary to understand what he was telling his mother... It's been decades since I watched the movie though.

Mera Naam Joker was one of the first Indian films my father saw when he was a child. In those years they used to release Indian films in theaters in my country, nowadays they only release SRK's films. I hope that one day (soon) more Indian films will be released in theaters in my country again. I love that movie and Im also have fear of clowns 🤣 but no wiith the character of this movie

Whoever did the translation screwed up the plot big time...first thing, the Russian trapeze artist was his second love, and the mother does not die during the performance shown here. This song is during the clown's farewell performance which bookends a series of flashbacks.

I never understood that why people in west find clown so scary. 😂 Is it because of many characters in horror films in west are clown? Or Is it something else? Because i never seen clown as some kind of scary character. More like Funny and Tragic. But not scary.

He also worked in other production films like ANARI, CHHALIYA, DULHA DULHAN, KANHAIYA, DIL HI TO HAI, DEEWANA, AROUND THE WORLD, SAPNO KA SAUDAGAR etc. Try watching his AWARA AND SHREE 420 songs as well. His music largely composed by SHANKER JAIKISHEN.
