Did you know that while walking may not help osteoporosis in the spine, it can actually help strengthen the hips? Additionally, there are other benefits of going for walks that are good for our bones. It's not just a great form of exercise, but it can also improve balance and flexibility, which are crucial for maintaining strong and healthy bones.

Thank you! I will never stop walking! Often it is not encouraged! So many benefits as you have said.

Walk using the power walk posture. It works on lower back, femurs, butt, stomach. Also, use your arms as you walk to engage your upper back, raise heart rate, firm arms.
You can also wear a backpack with some weight in it to help strengthen your back as well as your legs and hips.
When walking, are you stomping by taking breaks with regular walking. I am doing high knee lifts and stomping the ground at different intervals as I walk. There is no telling what the neighbors think!!!😅😅😅😅

how can getting the blood flowing not be indirectly helpful?

Thanks for your response. It was just a thought as when you plant the poles you can really feel the vibration through your upper body. Maybe some research needs to be done on this. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge with such empathy.

I walk a lot because I don't drive so I'm always on foot running errands going to places I need to go , but yeah there's a lot of people on social media that say walking does not improve bone density, that we have to put impact on the bones like strength training jumping but I still think walking does have some good benefits to our bones maybe not the same as lifting weights but I don't think it's fair to say walking doesn't do anything at all for bone health right?

Walking has a variety of benefits for our bones, and I think it has an important place in what we do. We benefit from doing a bit of cross training with exercise in general. It is a good idea to incoporate some weight training into what we are doing, but regular walking is also beneficial for our bones, and our well being in general ❤

      @@sarahmapes_bonebuildersystem that's what I was thinking too
how could people say that walking does nothing for bone health and density when our bodies are designed for walking
      Along with lifting and moving
Walking is so good for our overall body how can the bones be left in all the benefits that walking does?
Even for people who are very overweight who can't do any exercises they're told to just walk and even walking alone is very beneficial for people who are just getting into fitness and who have never exercised in their life

I walk everyday and I firmly believe it’s good for me. I’ve seen so many comments that it doesn’t help bone density, so while walking I really took notice on how I was walking. My heel trikes first so to me it’s giving my bones a shock.

@@mandysmith7812 I walk every day too and I walk fast sometimes I'm carrying groceries and items that should be counted as some form of resistance training, walking does give some sort of impact on the feet especially if you walk fast with a decent step on the ground
I wouldn't depend on only walking for increasing my bone density but I think it has to provide some sort of benefit right? I know there's a lot of people and doctors on RUclips that say that walking does not increase bone density, I'm sure it doesn't by itself but it can still be part of a bone density increasing fitness routine I think

I was wondering if Nordic walking with poles would help build bone in the spine because of the impact of the poles?

    • @sarahmapes_bonebuildersystem
      @sarahmapes_bonebuildersystem  3 месяца назад +1

I don't know specifically about the poles. I am going by what I am reading in scientifc studies. Walking has many benefits and walking with poles is going to be good for your arms, hips, and legs for sure. It certainly isn't going to be bad for your spine. I am just not sure how beneficial it is for the spine as far as bone building. I wish I were more helpful with this ❤
