This is awesome! I have a question for you guys that live in areas like this year round. I do hiking and carry an AR pistol because it's light weight. Usually have semi solid copper projectiles with tiny hollow points for rounds in the woods. How effective, if any, would these be with a bear? I'm serious. I have no clue. I know they'll rip through 1/4" steel within 50 yards so I would guess they could penetrate a bear skull and hide. But I have no data to back that up, so I thought some of you guys may know. Standard AR-15 with 10.5" hammer forged barrel. Very accurate out to 200 yards with just a red dot. I'm looking at a nursing assignment up in MT next month. Wanted to know if I should get something larger just for protection. I rarely hunt anymore but I love the outdoors. But dang my AR pistol is so comfy to carry and light. I had a 30-30 lever action but sold it back in the Spring. I also have the new S&W FPC but even with a 16" barrel, I'd think the 9mm wouldn't do it. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the video. Maybe I'll get to see some of you guys next month.

We would recommend getting yourself something larger in an AR platform such as an AR-10 in .308 with 180 grain partition bullets. For something smaller and light weight such as a handgun we suggest a 10mm, 44 mag, 454 casull, 460 s&w, 500 s&w for protection out in bear country. If not, having some sort of firearm is always needed when in the wilderness.

@@bearcountryoutdoors Thanks. I’ve also heard the 6.5 Grendel is a good round as well.
