Fifa 2001 was the first game I installed and played on our new Pentium 4 PC, in 2001 The gameplay and graphics were impressive then, and I see it still holds pretty well today.
I was lucky to have what was considered a decent gaming PC around this time in my teens. Nothing super fancy but my dad always made sure we had a good graphics card that absolutely put consoles like the Playstation to shame in graphics. I was the envy of my friends when they came round to my house for a FIFA session. I was big into modding the game with full premier league kits, grass textures and real boots. Miss those days
I remember being very impressed when I played it back in 01. Even today it holds up unlike most games made in that time period. It feels really smooth and the pixels are also much smoother than what we were used to back then. For me it's the best looking Fifa game until Fifa 09 or so.
The nostalgia. The menu sound effects brought me back. EDIT: Also: "Yorke...Beckham...Yorke...Beckham...Yo-...etc" Also2: The somewhat bitcrushed commentary feels kind of appropriate as well XD (Or maybe RUclips is doing that?)
This Fifa game is what made me interested and invested in football in the first place. I remember as a small six-year-old kid I actually hated football for reasons I now don't really know but my dad bought me this game. Maybe he wanted me to start to like football. however, I didn't play it until maybe a year later but when I did...I was sold football became my everything and it has remained as such. many FIFA games came and went but I always went back to this one, one big reason because of the nostalgia but one other reason to also remind myself how my love for football grew.
Yeah, I think the problem is that after almost 30 years they have run out innovation. It happens with many games though. They should have probably stopped at the beginning of 2000 and starting a new series from scratch.
Had one of those old compilation disks of Game Demos back in the day. This was on one of them. As a kid I loved just diving at other players and tripping them up. lmfao

I am surprised how this game looks. I never played FIFA 2001, I only played 98 and then 2004 when I was a kid

FIFA2002 is the most exciting game I have ever played. I have also played FIFA99, 2000 and 2001.

There was a clitch , if u go one on one on the keeper and u walk to the corner . Easy score lol
Graphics wise it still gives most mobile games a run for their money. However the ball has a mind of its own and that's the most off putting part.

I doubt so. I use old machines to play these games. However, sometimes those games still run on modern PC, you have just to try.
I could get the game running on Windows 10, but whenever I start a match it crashes after a few seconds.

We played with a real Windows XP machine. There are chances it can run on a modern Windows with some compatibility mode.
