Best video ever made, seriously. Almost like Tactical Hive, Coch who was a seal did a video on how he runs some of his rifles. And they were all to how he liked it not just because the military told him too. Just found this guy and I’m subscribing.
The Tango down vertical grip has a slot for a surefire pressure pad if you want a secure grip mounted switch. The dual switch on back then lets you do both, however the smaller button isn't as easy to press.
I still run an old Gen1 Noveske with the SWS/Noveske quad rail and I moved the front flip up aft a few spots and run a Surefire X300T on the top rail in front of the front sight. It doesnt block much field of view and theres no barrel shadow except down (its a 16" with a short for these days 9" middie rail). And I can easily actuate it with my thumb from either side with a C Clamp-ish type grip.
As a southpaw, I choose to run my lights on the right side of my guns so that when I sling the weapon down, it creates a bit of a stand-off between my leg and the suppressor
This is also why it's good for righties to run theirs on the left. Plus with an offset or surefire pro mount that puts the light at a 45 where you can just use the button on the light with no tape switch. It's obviously the best way for a right handed person. Do it however you want but there is a best way to do this from an ergonomic perspective.

Exactly! Whatever works for you is what’s best. There is no standard when it comes to mounting accessories. It’s all individual preference due to the weapon operators experience.
What gets me is with all the focus on lumens is that the flashlight design never changes. Why not a ring light that fits around the barrel, eliminates the side shadow. Itcs a novel idea but I'd still like to see it :)
That's a cool idea, I think. Unless there would be a heat problem from the barrel or perhaps a larger hand guard to accommodate the lighting mechanism.
If a light mounted directly to a barrel ever touched anything else while using it, there would be a similar effect as resting the barrel on something when shooting, throws the accuracy off.
Absolutely depends how you're using it. With an IR laser I run mine 90° on the left side because it allows me to deliberately activate the laser or light independently. If I have a pressure switch, it goes on the right side high as the shadow from the can is now where my support arm is anyway so I don't lose anything. Right handed shooter here
45 offset on the right side with a tail switch mounted on top for most of my rifles. On my PCC there’s limited real estate so I have a WML on the left for a modified C clamp.
I prefer lights on the right side unless running a suppressor. If I have a suppressor I use the light to be a buffer between my leg and a hot suppressor when the rifle is slinged up
JARP, I am actually going to agree with you on this one. The first light mounts on especially carbine 7 inch handguard guns were either underneath or on the support hand side. It only was moved to the strong side because the M4 RAS is limited with lights,IR/laser modules and pressure pads. The benefit to having it on the support side is you won't use your light to stop door jambs and barricades from attacking you. I sheared off a rather expensive Arisaka mount by not being cognizant of where my light was as I cornered a cinder block wall in Gunsite's shoot house. Flop... As with most things. Things get standardized. Then becomes law. And the Parrots... Will Parrot. On my FSB guns I run a light off of that. No wires. No pressure pads. And I have to make a physical effort to use the light. And you'll actually be surprised if it were to go sideways in this country how little you'd actually use that light. Especially in the Infantry/Minuteman sense. And don't act surprised if you were to step off in Indian country with a SOP to back the cap off and tape the cap as to not lose it. No ND's!!! Even with light caps like the 100 Concepts. ND's can be seen under NV and thermal.
I like my light on the right, no switch on the shotguns, switch on the AR and PCC. I'm considering moving the switch on the pcc to the left side so i can grip the fore grip and hit the switch with my thumb.
I just bought a WML and was looking for videos about positioning, and this popped up. Not only is this a great video about light positions, it's probably the best gun-related video that I've seen on RUclips. There is just too much gatekeeping in the gun community. We need to stick together and get as much support as we can get right now, and telling people that they aren't allowed to do what works best for THEM isn't helping. Keep up the great videos!
Whatever works for you is what works. There is no right answer. Some ppl think vertical grips are stupid. I personally dont like the trend of mounting buis onto unstable free float rails that can flex (i like it mounted to the stable gas block, railed), but whatever works for you works for you.
My favorite is 12 oclock. It shines light wherever the optic can point and the shadow is down, It doesn't require any extra mount or switches, you can press the button easily using the C clamp grip you use when shooting. taking up a little bit of the red dot view is a non factor

@@MikeyJ223 just dropped video on the paint. Well a new video on painting. Ask the question in the new painting one. I’ll have your answer on the light by then. Haha
the correct answer is: there is no correct answer I mount my lights differently depending on the type of light and the space on the rail. I try to favor the right side of the gun (im right handed) so that the light is less likely to snag on my gear and the light inevitably leaves a shadow on a suppressed weapon, so I cant the weapon to the left so the shadow casts towards the floor and I can see everything from the ground up (if that makes sense? hard to put into words for me lol)

2:25 Oh I've never seen a light set up like that, that's pretty cool. Not a fan of pressure pads in general and prefer switches, so this is nice to learn.
I like my guns set up how I want them set up…..I had co workers that only put lights at the 6 o’clock on their rifles and they had good reason 1. It’s I. The same place as their pistol light 2. When they are negotiating corners their light was in line with the bore . I did not like that configuration on my rifle and chose what made sense to me and we left each other alone on our decisions. It’s your boat and your harbor drive it as long and fast as you want.
4:01 Excellent point. I shot a pistol match recently with a dude who shoots right handed, so obviously ran his pistol mags on his left hip, but with rounds facing back. I had never seen it like that before and asked him to demo a reload for me with his mags set up the way he had them. I still don’t understand how his reload worked (😂) but it did, and dude could shoot so…to each their own.
It's not something to be dogmatic about. Generally if I can do it I prefer to have the light opposite the side the rifle lays on my body when slung. But I have some lights mounted on the opposite side because of how it just went together. A lot of my rifles I have a unity mod button on the top of the M1913 that I can get when shooting lefty (I'm a lefty) and then the tailcap switch I can hit when shooting off handed or if a righty wants to shoot my guns. I try to make them work best for me, but still be serviceable off handed.
Nothing wrong with having the pressure pad on the left. I recommend using the light on the left side if you are running a suppressor so if you let it hang with the sling the light hits your leg not the hot suppressor
Haha. Tell 'em!! Guns are so customizable, that's why we have rail slots all over each side.... a man telling another man to put his light on a different side is just embarrassing.
I had a guy in a FB group argue that my light and magnifier were on the wrong side and after I explained how I used to run it on the side he said was “right” and that it didn’t end up working for me I couldn’t activate my light quick and my magnifier would get bumped into doors so I switched them yeah he still wanted to die on that hill and it was just the most pointless argument there really is no true way to run your gear everyone’s gotta find what works for them and run that
I like mounting my light backwards facing back at me on the top rail so when I actuate it while aiming down sights it blinds the piss out of me.

2:25 Oh I've never seen a light set up like that, that's pretty cool. Not a fan of pressure pads in general and prefer switches, so this is nice to learn.
I love this response!
Just subbed, lol, this video was great
Thanks for the sub!
Hilarious sir. Thoroughly enjoyed the retort.
Glad you enjoyed it

"Keep typing Fudd" 😂😂😂. By the way where did you get the poncho liner jacket?
That’s what I want to know too!

Damn. I will at least try mounting it on the “wrong side” It might be better than the left side.
If I run my light on the left side, it gets in the way and cant get a good purchase on the rifle. He must be wrong handed... I mean, left-handed.
Heck, just articulating your reasons as to why you do it a particular way should be good enough. There will always be naysayers, though!
You ain't wrong. Just where you get to it. Depends on the setup.
There’s no wrong way to eat a Reese’s. Or mount a weapon light…unless the lens is facing you.
First time watching your channel and will be back! Subbed

I appreciate that

@ 😂😂😂 I’m just glad I could contribute something of intelligent substance to the convo brother!
Nothing wrong with having the pressure pad on the left. I recommend using the light on the left side if you are running a suppressor so if you let it hang with the sling the light hits your leg not the hot suppressor
You really want to tweak his noodle...mount that Inforce light out front on the top rail.
@@Frogbuddy naw will occlude my optic
Haha. Tell 'em!! Guns are so customizable, that's why we have rail slots all over each side.... a man telling another man to put his light on a different side is just embarrassing.
Subbed, by the wway. Hoorah
Dude bit off more than he could chew.. erbody knows you dont argue with officer grunt
Yes I was a commissioned officer in Infantry but now a Warrant for Aviation
I had a guy in a FB group argue that my light and magnifier were on the wrong side and after I explained how I used to run it on the side he said was “right” and that it didn’t end up working for me I couldn’t activate my light quick and my magnifier would get bumped into doors so I switched them yeah he still wanted to die on that hill and it was just the most pointless argument there really is no true way to run your gear everyone’s gotta find what works for them and run that
Definitely needed this today. Hahaha.
I love it! Can't stand these armchair critics.
Yeah i feel that man, they are my guns & ill run them how i like. If you dont like it sucks for you lmfao!
Tell'em why you mad sun🤣🤣🤣
