At age 72 I haven’t owned a motorcycle since I had a Yamaha 350 while in my early 20’s in central California. Well north of Seattle now and retired, I’ll soon buy a brand-new retro-classic bike, probably Kawasaki, for cruising. The bikes in this video aren’t easy to find at reasonable prices. Fun video!
When I consider that I have had two 1972 H2 750's as well as a real nice 76KH400 in my day, I feel pretty damn lucky. I grew up with the two stroke bikes, and they are awesome.
Love the white 250 S1 most, original exhaust system ... and then the blue 750 H2 with the original exhaust systems :) ... always wanted to have one, never had :(
Beautiful bikes. BUT....the kings of the smokers had to be the Ariel Arrow and Ariel Leader. You could still track their route the next day!! Kawasaki perfected 2-strokes (kind of) along with the Suzuki 550GT and the Water Buffalo. I love to see these older bikes still being cherished and ridden. Thanks!
I have a 74 H2b Denco. I went out for a Sunday morning ride with friends. Nice and steady I might add. We did 74 miles and I used just over 4 gallons of petrol 😳. Also when I was at the front, my mates had got flecks of oil on their visors and bikes. Where ever I take it people are always interested and of course, I love it even though it's got a drinking and smoking problem. 🏍💨💨💨💨
@@sammartinez4244 I use Shell Advance racing M in the autolube, which is castor/synthetic. It smells fantastic. However on short journeys, or not revving it too hard it can be a bit smokey. Thanks for the interest.
I worked for a big Kawasaki shop back in the late 70's and early 80's . On the shops side we hated these things because as a stock bike they were okay ( meant to be an inexpensive beginners bike) . But...as we Americans do we hopped them up and turned them into what we " lovingly " called them two wheeled grenades. Blown cylinders and twisted cranks were the normal repair...the owner hated these things . They would come in with rear treads burned smooth in the center and 1/4 mile times shoe polished on the rear of the seat and wanted repairs on warranty...ha ha ha . He'd practically throw them out of the shop . Ol' Hoodoo...he even had ' ass kicking cowboy " painted on his truck !
Dang. I was given an orange kawi 350 triple in grade 9 for being solid at school; I traded it for a yz125. That was 25 dirt bikes ago . 0 street bikes . But dontcha wish you could have held onto , maybe 1/3 -1/2 of the bikes you ever owned ? ( Yes,i know that bikes decay when not actually being used , but still....)
My 1st H2 came for $400 in 1988 sitting in an Oregon garage with 4,000 miles on it. Dude was scared of it and was done riding it! He'd layed it down at 50 mph due to him freezing up in fear in 2nd gear! It needed new sprockets and chain due to teeth bent over (actually pulled sideways from extreme torque!) being ridden hard by his friends. None of his friends wifes would let the guys have it because everyone heard it scream "Bloody Murder" revved up at 11,000 rpm without baffles! HA! HA! On a tight budget i welded in some VW beetle stock muffler tips because i couldnt afford $150 for new baffles. My Lord, how insane a fresh H2 engine runs when an experienced rider on wide open throttle/ open road !!
I am wanting to colab with serious Kawi H Model builder to build a custom "Frankenkawi" highly modified 6 speed,750+cc, stage 4 ported, water cooled, frame swap into older lighter GS550 with 3 disc multi piston calipers, widow making bike! except for the all new hi performance engine and expansion chambers, all other parts will be late model, used and proven effective components such as huge front disc brakes, to come up with a Hyabusa killer. After watching pro H2 drag bikes pull 8 and 9 sccond 1/4 mile passes I'm convinced this build is practical and buildable for around $10k usd. i estimate top speed around 200 mph with 200 rwhp. and very rideable for experienced rider. Imagine the available torque at rear wheel while rolling at 40 mph and dropping down a gear or 2 and nailing the throttle! First thing to mind here would be swing arm or wheelie bar addition to stay planted the front wheel!
Had a 1974 just like the dark brown one , 8000 miles sold it for nothing almost,just needed a battery.Boy was i dumb. When i callef the guy to go look at it he said,now before you come to look its a 2 stroke.I said good thats what im lookin for,he said ok the last 5 guys that came left when they saw it was a 2 stroke.Rode it about 2 blocks came back and paid him,500.00 ,that was 1985.
I had a 75 H1 was young and stupit. Crazy fast, handled like crap. Thankfully I sold it before I killed myself. Do I miss it, I do, but I'm still alive :)
My H2 wasn't fast enough, so I banged it from 75 to 120 hp. shouldn't have done it. Now a tank only lasted 60 miles. that wasn't fun anymore, so I sold it. The unlucky guy who bought it died on it. I was very sorry.
Why is it there always has to be ONE person on a four stroke bike show up at a two stroke meet? Reminds me of that one woman who cant stand that men have their own league so she has to try and join the mens team. LET PEOPLE HAVE THEIR SINGULAR INTERESTS WITHOUT JEALOUSLY TRYING TO RUIN IT FOR THEM!!!!!

I had a 250 triple in '83. Still miss it to this day. What a beautiful sound it made.

Klotz synthetic 2 stroke oil, burned really clean. You could see it in the plugs, no fouling.
