  • You don't need port forwards or DHCP reservations. You don't need UPNP.
One quick change to the outbound NAT rule and you'll have it working perfectly (and with multiple Xboxes or PlayStations too).

This is what literally stopped me from using pfsense. I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to get 3 Playstations and 1 Xbox to have open nat/type 2... Caused all sorts of joining issues.. I'm glad someone finally figured it out..

Omg…..thank you thank you. Ring central would not make calls on mobile phone and WiFi. Also teams was not able to make outgoing calls and join meetings.
Been struggling with this for weeks!!

I'm a novice with 50s to 100s of hours of playing with my first opnsense box, this video!!!! F!ing BEST! Much love my friend
As a hobby level I'm really enjoying the networking journey, but this saved me from so many hours more of experimentation on why I could not get PSN running smoothly. Thank you so much

I work in IT and I have been spending all day to try to understand that. Outbound didn't even pass to mind. Thanks

This strangely fixed an issue where I could not send text messages from my phone when on my home network behind opnSense with IPV6. Are there any downsides or security risks of doing this?

If you have multiple VLANS, I assume you'd set the source to any?

This doesn’t seem to work for me. Everything on the network seems to get unstable and only certain websites will resolve. Any advice?

Ahh, could be a bunch of things. If you are resolving some IPv4 hosts but not all, I'd probably lean towards MTU. If your prior NAT settings worked when set to 'auto', try using 'Hybrid'. Just like the firewall rules, they work on a top down 'first match' list and if something on your network doesn't like your manual rules, it may proceed down to the auto rules next. It could be a double NAT problem with IPv4. I can see the dest port rewrites being necessary if your OPNsense is behind another NAT device.

@@AdamThorn1 I think my issue ended up being DNS but honestly, I did too many things unscientifically so I can say it actually DOES seem to be working for me.
