Families Matter - A Christmas Homecoming | Nazarene

As I prepared for a sermon rooted in John 1, I was captivated by the exchange between Philip and Nathanael. Philip’s declaration rings with conviction: “We have found the One Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote-Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph” (John 1:45). Yet Nathanael’s response, steeped in skepticism, echoes the doubts of many: “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” (John 1:46).
While reflecting on these verses, a question stirred within me: Who is this Nazarene? This profound inquiry became the seed of a song that emerged in my heart, inviting deeper contemplation of Jesus’ identity and mission.
The prophet Isaiah, centuries earlier, spoke of the coming Messiah with unparalleled clarity and hope. Though his words seemed to linger unfulfilled for generations, at the appointed time, God sent His Son, Jesus Christ-the One and Only Savior of the world. What appeared delayed was, in truth, perfectly orchestrated within God’s divine timeline.
Perhaps you, too, are in a season of waiting-a time when the promises of God seem distant or unrealized. Yet let this truth anchor your soul: if God has spoken it, He will surely bring it to pass. His faithfulness is unwavering, and His timing is flawless.
Do not waver in your faith. Trust in the One who is able to do immeasurably more than you can ask or imagine. The promise may tarry, but it will come to fruition, for the One who promised is eternally faithful.
